Welcome one and all!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on February 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Hello all,

So much to catch up with! Hope all are well and recovering from various ailments. Oh, and getting ready for school tomoroow

I did everything I set out to do yesterday though it wasn't much. And I still need to hoover. DD1 seemed much better yesterday but is feeling rough again today. I am force-feeding her water and cranberry juice . DD2 very cheerful and has almost finished her homework. Just got to make 'layered dessert' out of craft materials and then she's done. She says. I will be checking.....

Menu planned and then changed it due to finding 'reduced' duck when I shopped. So we have got roast dinner tonight And the curry and naan bread tomorrow.

DH has accused me of having become obsessed with washing up. I don't care. Keeping the sink clean and on top of the washing up makes a huge difference so I will continue happily with it. He can do it if he wants to

Off to make lemon cake - will be back later with slices for all

optimisticmumma · 21/02/2010 15:49

Afternoon all!
Just popping in to say 'hi' and to catch up on all your news while were away!

We had a lovely, restful time but I'm now panicking bigtime as I don't really feel ready for school tomorrow! (I am always like this before a new term and I've been teaching for around 20 years!!).

Still, I've only got DD and DH to get out with me on time tomorrow as DS1 is still away and DS2 has an inset day...

wish me luck with my planning and lessons....

See you all tomorrow...

MiniMarmite · 21/02/2010 20:12

Bye for now DEM, hope all goes well for you. Come back and see us when you are ready x.

DWM Thanks for supporting us all over the last few months. I think I said that I would be happy to take over in March if you wanted a break. I still am but I know I haven't been a good role model recently so if you/someone else are keen to continue then that's fine too.

I just need to work out/be told how to post links the night before as morning MN is not possible for me (probably because I roll out of bed at the last possible moment

Had a lovely day today. Forgot that my SIL said she might be dropping by...thank goodness for my cleaning spurt yesterday!

Off to make brownies

x

MiniMarmite · 21/02/2010 20:13

Good luck OM

EllieAnne · 21/02/2010 20:14

missed you by hours DEM, but just incase you do see this, enjoy your break, see you when you're back.

My smiling for two hours ended up as smiling for four hours feetheart so think I deserve a **ing medal!

We played that head game today ellip! We play it quite a lot but today dh seemed to go to another level of head-ness, must be something in the air this weekend

Hi teamcullen that's a good idea about printing daily routines off instead of the journal, not as easy to ignore loose

Morning routine done - yay!
Two more loads of washing - Done
hoover, sweep and mop downstairs - hoovered but no mopping
Proper bathroom clean x2 - done
Cook early roast - done
Make sandwiches, cakes - done
Last minute dash checking house is mil friendly - done
Smile for two hours - done and then some!
Check uniform/homework/lunch money
Evening routine

Need to add: to do list for tomorrow

Still enjoying the shiny sink and have also been accused of over-doing the washing up missbennett , never happy are they?!

Night all

MrsDinky · 21/02/2010 20:32

Evening all,

Quiet day here today, walk into town/park this morning then just mooching around playing at home this afternoon, nice.

Cheese challenge still going well, nearly killed me watching everyone sprinkling grated cheese on their pasta and tomato sauce yesterday, but I resisted.

Easing ourselves back into school, DD is back at pre-school, DS has an inset day, a rare chance for me to spend a day on my own with him, so probably won't do much flying. I did however promise myself that next time master bedroom was the weeks zone I would do a really thorough hoover (move all the under bed storage, pull out all the units etc, tops of wardrobes). Last did this 6 months ago and it to my surprise only took about an hour, so want to try again this week.

MissB - lemon cake sounds yummy, hope DD is getting better.

EllieA - you're doing well! My sink never stays shiny for more than 5 mins due to hard water, much to my irritation, but at least it isn't all tea-stained like it used to be . I give my bath and basin taps a quick polish every morning which cheers me up every time I go in the bathroom.

OM - good luck tomorrow

TeamC - your morning routine doesn't sound too dissimlar to mine! How old are your DCs? My top tip is to put everyone's clothes out the night before, including shoes, also to line up in the hall all book bags, PE kits etc, and (esp if still snowing) make sure all gloves, hats etc are to hand. Also any letters for school etc in book bags the night before. Someone on here (Pluto was it you) started putting out all the breakfast cereals, bowls etc the night before and found that helped too.

DWM - hope your leg makes a speedy recovery

MMango - hope the slash and burn season isn't too long and the wind blows it in the other direction

EllieP - I bought them new "grown-up" towels especially for the badge sewing (tip from another mum at DCs swimming lesson) so they can use them for years hopefully).

MiniM good luck with the propsed job change

Waves to SC, PA, MrsG, Feetheart, PMPY, and everyone else.

Cheese challenge still going well, nearly killed me watching everyone sprinkling grated cheese on their pasta and tomato sauce yesterday, but I resisted.

droitwichmummy · 22/02/2010 06:44

Good morning! Quiet weekend on the thread - hope you were having some time with your families as well as doing lesson plans

Monday so its Home Blitzing Hour (yes I know its actually 70 minutes and it takes me longer than this anyway and I have only a 3 bed semi!) DH has said he will vaccuum this morning (bet he doesn't) and its bin day so that's 2 parts done already

Babystep is about control journals amd as this is a short month I'm giving you this babystep as well which is much better

Into the bedroom for the mission. Thankfully I did the weekly one yesterday and have kept on top of the daily one since last time we dod this.

MM thanks for the offer - may take you up on it! If you would like a practice, I am away Wednesday/Thursday this week. I can post on Wednesday at sone unearthly hour like last week but won't be able to do Thursday. Fancy a go?

Have a good day everyone!

Hello all. Haven't caught up properly with the thread yet but hope everyone who is feeling ill is recovering ..

So sorry to have been out of touch. Had lovely but extremely busy half term. Managed to clear out one room of basement too and kept up with routines so feeling pretty positive about Flying atm.

This week is going to be even more busy but should be back next week properly and very willing to help out posting links then or in March or at a future date. Just let me know.

MissBennett sorry to hear your dd1 has been so unwell and to hear that she was feeling ill again yesterday - hope things are improving a bit - poor you and her!

StillCounting · 22/02/2010 13:23

Meant to say - hope your mum feels better soon too Ellie

StillCounting · 22/02/2010 13:30

BODY CLUTTER STEP FOR WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY 22ND FEBRUARY:

(Please ignore if you are not watching your weight)

Keep a low calorie/low fat snack in your handbag (PositiveAttitude)

And try and maintain previous week's tips:

  • number 1, drink between 1 and 2 litres of water a day
  • number 2, eat five portions of fruit and veg a day
  • number 3, write down what you eat, how much and how often
  • number 4, walk as much as you can during the day (10,000 steps is a good target to aim for) and remember to lay out your walking clothes the night before!
  • number 5, eat only at defined meal and snack times (3 meals and 2 healthy snacks ideal) and don't pick in between. Remember "Kitchen pickers wear big knickers"!!
  • number 6, cut out alcohol completely or restrict to x nights per week
droitwichmummy · 22/02/2010 18:49

Good evening - where is everyone today? I seem to remember things going a bit quiet at the end of January as well...

Thanks to MM for offering to take over the thread. I was debating carrying on but I think I will take you up on the offer. Think I am getting too distracted by the PC and not doing enough flying IYSWIM I will still be here to help out whenever it is needed and I know SC has helped me and will carry on with you.

I have 9 things I need to do tonight
unload/reload airer done
unload/reload DW
ironing/put washing away
bath DS (& me but not at the same time!)
print off booking for train tickets
cook mince for lasagne and cottage pie (already defrosted)
mend DS T-shirt
let down legs of DS school trousers (4 pairs!)
note for school/afterschool club about pick ups this week and football
get DS's PE kit together
Can't count - that's 10 things; better get on!

OP posts:
MiniMarmite · 22/02/2010 19:07

Evening All

DWM - I will take over on next month and also happy to fill in on Thurs. Ellie are you happy to be back up? I don't think I am going anywhere in March but possibly in April. Can someone remind me how to link to the right place for the morning when posting the night before please?

Thanks SC x

Been at work today so off to sort DS's milk and tidy the kitchen.

PositiveAttitude · 22/02/2010 19:29

Evening all,

Sorry I have not been around, been a little busy in RL and also obsessed by another thread! - absolutely nothing to do with flying!

Ellie - Totally with you on the cats licking noises. Isnt it disgusting?

DEM - hope it goes ok when you are off again.

SC - Manic waves

Miss B - Hope your DD is feeling better today.

And a huge Hello to everyone else!

Not done a lot here as been at work all day. I ahve made a stand this morning with DD4 who is hopelessly slow and makes me late for work every day. She is supposed to walk to school, but she is so slow that i tend to end up taking her, so that she is not late, but that then means that I am late, instead! So, new term, new rule. She walks and tough if she is in trouble for being late! [hard mother emoticon] Well, it worked this morning. She was on time and so was I, so a good start.

DH has been the latest to be struck down with the lurgy. He is not the "man flu" type of person, more like the "Nothing wrong with me ...sniff" type, so quite surprised that he has been very unwell. DD2 is not improving after 4 days on AB for tonsillitis and now cannot open her mouth to talk , and cannot swallow fluid and makes a huge amount of fuss swallowing her saliva, so I will do my caring mum impression tomorrow and take her abck to the Dr yet again! (3 times in 10 years, then 3 times in 2 weeks!!!!)

Sorry for boring post, just wanted to say Hi to you all, will try to catch up tomorrow.

droitwichmummy · 22/02/2010 19:32

Thank you mm I'll see if I can do a simple guide for you a bit later

DS is in the bath so quick check
unload/reload airer done
unload/reload DW done
ironing/put washing away done
bath DS (& me but not at the same time!)
print off booking for train tickets done
cook mince for lasagne and cottage pie (already defrosted)
mend DS T-shirt
let down legs of DS school trousers (4 pairs!)
note for school/afterschool club about pick ups this week and football done
get DS's PE kit together

Not bad start - just need to keep momentum going

OP posts:
teamcullen · 22/02/2010 19:50

So last night and this morning went without a hitch and we arrived at school nice and early. MrsDinky DD is 13, DS1 is 11 and DS2 is 7. DD had an inset day so she was off today. I havent done her a list, she is enjoying taking the Mick out of my Flying and I dont think a set of jobs will fair too well, so Im just asking her to do things as I go.

The boys are happy with their little lists, they have been laminated so they can tick off when each job is done and wipe it off ready for the next day. And I can write extras on the bottom if I need to

I Havent done much tonight because I had to go out and pick DS1 up from a football match. But as my bedroom is seriously in need of doing I will do todays mission if nothing else before my bedtime routine.

I hope your DS had a good time at Beavers MrsD DS1 has gone right through to scouts now and DS2 in soon moving up to cubs. They both really love it. reminder to teamcullen sew badges on DSs beavers/scouts uniform DS2 at camp this weekend!!!

optimisticmumma · 22/02/2010 20:52

Evening everyone! Thanks for all your good luck messages! I was just stressing out as it was the first day back and no Head in so I knew I had to be organised as I had extra stuff to do (assembly for example and a meeting with a Governor!!) I didn't actually get to the loo or have a cup of anything until 12.00!!!!Oh well! It was a good day...

As far as flying is concerned:
DW umloaded, loaded, unloaded
WM on
Dryer - had to clean the filter! -now on and working properly.
Supper - Fish and chips
Tescos - essential supplies only

Will catch up with the zone and missions on Weds I think, when I'm at home.

I'm very excited as DS1 is home tomorrow and I have had no contact with him for ten days which doesn't sound a lot but has been incredibly hard. So used to text I suppose! He is going straight to school and I have no idea if he remembers how he is getting home with all his luggage! He will be totally exhausted so a quick meal and then hitting the sack I should think!

Teamcullen - I have 3 teenagers and they all take the out of flying too but it's amazing how they get sucked in. Eg you leave their fresh bedding on their bed with a brief instruction and it gets done! If you keep it up it does become a routine for them. I do insist mine keep their rooms tidyish. Their pocket money is dependent on it! Also they hate the idea of me clearing through their stuff so ...easy!

Hi to mrsd, PA, SC, DWM, MM, Elliep, Elliea and everyone else i've inevitably missed!

large glass of white is calling....

missbennett · 22/02/2010 20:58

Just did my post and realised I hadn't logged in so it went

Waves to all. Teamcullen like you I popped in a couple of times but no time to post! Very impressed with your lists and routines by the way

DWM I will miss your links but hope you'll still be around to chat?

MM thank you for taking over - I would be lost without this - it really keeps me on track and I love catching up with everyone.

WE had snow this morning so I walked to the station instead of taking the car so had a nice relaxed trip and could be patient and listen to everyone else's tales of road hell!

DD1 not gone to school but seems much better tonight
DD2 very cheery and seemed glad to be back at school - got a clap from her class for being able to recite the alphabet backwards (her own invented half term challenge!)

I have:
-morning routine completed
-dough for naan bread - done before work
-been to work and come home (and did loads today - hooray
-made curry for tea - Tesco light tikka marsala jar of sauce which DD2 said was 'lush' - she is a very fussy veggie but ate all of it!
-finished naan - lovely
-dusted and hoovered
-made soup for tomorrow
-load of washing - just finished

So not too bad! Just enjoying slice of lemon cake - 'tis lovely and improves with keeping. Only a small slice so can't do too much damage and I did walk the mile to the station this morning

Better go and pick up DD2 now - might do mission later and see you all tomorrow

pushmepullyou · 22/02/2010 21:19

Evening all

Just a quick flutter by to say hi! Haven't done much today as just got back from work and put grumpy cold ridden toddler to bed.

teamcullen wow that is quite a list. You put me to shame

Yay to MM for taking over next week . I promise to have a go one of these days but am a bit about my ability to stay organised enough to post early for a whole month.

Hi to SC, ellie, SC, OM, DWM and PA (which thread was it by the way? ) as well as everyone else I've missed.

Hopefully back a bit more tomorrow for a day of much cleaning

feetheart · 22/02/2010 21:58

Slightly odd but busy day so going to keep it short and go to bed as tomorrow promises to be more of the same and I'm all bunged up and sniffy!!

DD's birthday (how on earth can my baby be 7 ?) AND we had snow all day - how exciting can one day be?

Today I did:
School run in snow with v excited DD and v grumpy DS (he does NOT like the cold )
Morning routine
2 mins Hotspot
Cleaned bathroom floor
Mission though didn't take long as still v tidy from my Mum's visit
Repaired DD's cake where kittens had had a go at the icing
Watched Toy Story 2 with DS
Made spaghetti and salmon for dinner - DD's favourite
Made bagels for tomorrow for DH's birthday breakfast
Wrapped presents for DH

Sorry I haven't caught up with much, germs and birthdays interfering!

droitwichmummy · 22/02/2010 22:03

missb I'll be chatting a whole lot more!

unload/reload airer done
unload/reload DW done
ironing/put washing away done
bath DS one(& me but not at the same time!)- think I'll have a quick shower instead
print off booking for train tickets done
cook mince for lasagne and cottage pie (already defrosted) no might get done
mend DS T-shirt done
let down legs of DS school trousers (4 pairs!) started unpicked but re-sewing will have to wait until tomorrow
note for school/afterschool club about pick ups this week and football done
get DS's PE kit together done

That will do - going for shower. Might cook that mince in the morning if I get up in time

OP posts:
MrsDinky · 22/02/2010 22:35

Well, DS loved Beavers, phew. I can see Mondays are going to pretty full-on from now forwards but never mind. DCs crashed out pretty quickly! The hall is just a bombsite of bags, leotards, books, lunchboxes, aargh. Usually this all goes away as soon as we get in from school, not time on Mondays now, plus DCs grazed on biscuits all the way through the evening, note to self "could do better".

Happy birthday and get well soon to all the relevant people!

See you tomorrow.

ps on the bodyclutter front, I have joined a gym, induction is tomorrow

droitwichmummy · 23/02/2010 06:47

Good morning!

MrsD good luck at the gym today. I used to love going but just can't fit it in/afford it these days

Anway - Tuesdays are Plan and Play days!

Babystep is about routines and I'm going to post this one as well

The mission is about tackling that pile of clothes in your bedroom. I don't have one thanks to flying so I will finish doing DS's school trousers instead

Great Olympic Challenge today - you need to try on EVERY skirt and dress you own to see if you will ever wear it again

Off to wake DS - see you later

OP posts:
teamcullen · 23/02/2010 07:27

Good morning all.

Happy birthday miss/Mr Feetheart pushmepullme My list isnt that bad because its split up through the day and some things on it are just prompts rather that jobs. DSs have to do their own lists, hopefully one day they will remember to wash their faces without the promise of a treat.

Today Im going to do yesterday and today's missions. Starting with filling the washing machine with the pile of dirty clothes in my bedroom, then I will sort out my chest of drawers.

Tonight I am going to sew badges on uniforms and give laptop a break so if I dont sign back in later Ill be busy sewing. Hmm where is the sewing box
