Welcome one and all!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on February 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Just re-done the maths and I have missed 10 years! Oh no, I am old!!!!!
Now realise I was probably watching BP with a nephew at the time! AND dd1 was 2, dd2 was 1!!!!!!!!!

Right need a sit down to get over the fact that I really am old!!!

Oh well, there you all were thinking i must have been a muma at the age of 14 or something!!

QueenofDreams · 25/02/2010 17:05

Hehe, won't tell you ladies how old I was in 93
Wasn't in the uk at the time, so wouldn't have a clue about BP - have never watched it
Today's list:
Washing up done
Shine sink done
15 minutes in bedroom done
I also threw in clearing the kitchen counters, as I can't stand it when they're messy.

Might also throw in a load of laundry (God knows there's enough to do )

MiniMarmite · 25/02/2010 18:44

Lol PA hope you have recovered!

PositiveAttitude · 25/02/2010 19:00

MM - I dont think i will ever recover. A zimmer frame is on order and a large vino for the embarrassment I have yet again caused myself!

I wish I had done the maths before I had posted and exacerbated by my job being very "maths" orientated!

elliepac · 25/02/2010 19:36

Evening all,

to join the blue peter debate i was in mid-teens in 93 and waaaaay too cool to watch Blue Peter or at least \i thought i was, looking back am not so sure .

PA lol! I always do that when doing guess the year on the radio station, am always three or four years out because i think i was 16 when this song was out when i was actually 20! Drink some wine...doesn't red help the ageing process .

qod a fine start . Am so jealous of you having a lie in, what's one of those?

mrsd and swan my dh's junk is all around the house, he is a terrible hoarder plus a messy bugger so that equals chaos! Although am liking your style mrsd

List looked like this:-

morning routine completelydoneevenbed
washingdone
dinner takeawayordered
schoolwork cba
evening routine nearlydone
mission and 15 mins declutter cba.

Where is sc, anyone 'seen' her....

Have a good evening everyone!

droitwichmummy · 25/02/2010 20:38

Hello! Made it back from Greenwich in one piece - never been there before and it was lovely, really 'villagey' (I know that's not a word but you know what I mean). Thinking of taking DS sometime to see Royal Observatory and the National Maritime Museum - anyone been? Think I need to go back to my lovely hotel

Anyway - I turn my back for 2 days and you are:
talking about John Noakes' bottom
making Tracey Island (I was
PA is chasing men with a broom
QOD turns up (welcome back was it you who might want the CHAOS link?)
McDreamy joins us (welcome to the madhouse )
and SC vanishes !
Its a good job I came back when I did

Washing is on here, DS is showered (he's just decided he likes them), trying to get him to bed, my case has been emptied (DS helped), might get some ironing done before bed.

See you all in the morning

MrsDinky · 25/02/2010 21:05

Managed 4 more lots of washing plus hoovered the whole house, so pretty good going today, also booked IOW campsite for the summer (finally). PA - it's this one campsite

Re DHs and their mess, reminds me of when I was a student and sharing a flat with another girl and two blokes, who considered housework to be women's work. The blokes cleared off for two weeks holiday leaving the kitchen full of washing up, my friend and I promptly shoved it all in a box, put it on the worst offender's bed and moved out without leaving a forwarding address.

Welcome back to the madhouse DWM, Greenwich is lovely isn't it, I've only been once but like you was so surprised how villagey it was.

DH wants the computer, so I'm off now, see you all tomorrow.

optimisticmumma · 25/02/2010 21:30

LOL PA - you gave me a fright with your maths!! My DS1 was 1 in 1993 and I am 30 years older than him! Why was I watching Blue Peter??? Think I must have been mixing up my presenters! It's senility I know...
Today was a funny old day. It's been raining so hard the best laid plans had to be relaid!

Anyway I did:
morning routine
hoover downstairs
rescue kitchen
cleaned other loos and tried unblocking one.
Did a very halfhearted shop in tesco's which was very silly as I will probably have to go again.
had a family night in to catchup with an indian takeaway
took car to garage
took DS1 for driving practice

So, not bad really - just doesn't feel much!!

Tomorrow i need my motivation back! Please kick butt if I don't mention school assessmnent and master bedrooms.

Thanks all and well done minim on your efficient posting.

Nightx

MiniMarmite · 25/02/2010 22:06

Evening All

Welcome back DWM. If it is ok with you I will start a March thread tomorrow so we call all mark our places for Monday.

We still don't have a name though so I'm looking for suggestions. I only seem to be able to think of titles with March Madness in (I wonder why ).

droitwichmummy · 25/02/2010 22:10

Marching towards Spring has already been taken by the slatterns so that's no good - how about Fledgling Flyers - Mad as March Hares?

OP posts:
missbennett · 25/02/2010 22:54

Evening all! Waving to all!
Wow, the conversation moves along when you miss a day! Sounds like everyone has been busy!
Well, I'm back from my travels! dwm your accomodations looks more plush than mine - mine was simple but wholesome and actually very nice. PA I'm not a Quaker but we were in their conference centre for our training event - and it was really very good - excellent food but, MrsD I failed with the cheese - splendid cheeseboard with every meal so I was very tempted but I just had a little instead of pudding!
OK, I'll 'fess up - In 1993 I turned 28 and became a mother for the first time. So John Noakes's bottom was a highlight of my teenage years and possibly the rudest thing I'd ever seen on TV at that stage! How sad was I?
MrsD I hope your birthday improved and you had a good day and the sickenss is now better.
PA how is your DD today? Hopefully on the mend? Did you really make chilli and lemon meringue pie as a composite dish? Sounds interesting!
swan I too live in dread of being locked out in my nightie going to the bin first thing!
Hello to queenofdreams and mcdreamy
Well done mm and thank you for the links today.
I've done no flying today apart from routine this evening - no missions all week . I will try and catch up tomorrow and over the weekend - it's been a bit manic here this week.
dwm mad as march hares sounds highly appropriate

droitwichmummy · 26/02/2010 06:43

Good morning!

Today's babystep is one of the more wholesome variety
the mission though is a last whizz through the master bedroom before we move on to the living room next week
The Olympic missions sound fun - I dare you to post a video of yourself skating around with a feather duster!
If you don't fancy that there is always the clearing out your old make up mission and/or the workout

There's a new Riley's Challenge for the DC today as well:
Today it is time to dust! Go ask a parent for a feather duster or
whatever they like you to use to dust with and dust your dresser,
nightstands and desks! Dusting is a lot like petting a cat or dog.
You just pet the furniture with a feather duster or dust rag. Move
from side to side and from front to back.

See you later!

feetheart · 26/02/2010 06:57

OM - think you and I must be about the same age but you obviously started this child-rearing lark at a much more sensible age. I am aiming for the Oldest-Mum-at-the-School-Gates medal when DS starts Reception in Sept Nearly got it when DD started over 2 years ago but was pipped at the post (though her DD was her 7th)

Still feeling grotty here, and think I have conjunctivitis to add to the mix Keeping up with routines but little else.
Have good w/e everyone, I will be back and, hopefully, raring to go on Monday.

PositiveAttitude · 26/02/2010 07:17

Good Morning everyone!

I think the thread name that DWM has suggested is probably very appropriate!

MrsD - Dont know that campsite, but it looks good.

DWM - Looks like a lovely hotel.

MissB - Sorry about being nosey about your "Quakerism". No, it was NOT Chilli and Lemon pie. I am very conservative with my cooking. It was chilli con carne for main with Lemon meringue pie for dessert! I once ate chilli chocolate and have never recovered. WHy, Why, Why oh Why ruin chocolate by adding chilli. I was eating mints for hours afterwards and will NEVER repeat the experience!

DD2 was slightly better yesterday and I had a very positive discussion with her school about what will happen now, which was a total shock and breath of fresh air after the rubbish I had from DD3s school when I made the same phone call 20 months ago!

Just had a quick scroll and it appears we have "lost quite a few people this month: Tbelle Lbelle In1981 fruitstick HAG Neenook PMPY Tibni and more recently, MrsGok and SC. (and I am sure there are some i have missed. I hope some will jump back in next week.

Real treat tonight, out to a friends for a meal and sociable evening, so no cooking for me!

Not going to do a list today, just try to do a few bits and pieces to keep me ticking over.

Off to start the sandwich marathon for starters. See you all later!

optimisticmumma · 26/02/2010 08:27

Morning all!
Welcome home MissB - glad you had an interesting time!
Feetheart - you may be the oldest at the school gates but someone has to be - I'm sure you are the most glamorous{sp?) . What I enjoyed about starting secondary is that I went to be one of the youngest again! So you've got that to look forward too!
PA - glad you cleared up that recipe and glad school are being good. Is it a different school then??(being nosy)

Right, today:

ASSESSMENTS
Banking
Lunch with friend (am in danger of forgetting)
Mammoth master bed to catch up on the week!

That will do for now!

See you all later - have a good day everyone

optimisticmumma · 26/02/2010 08:30

I meant the DC starting secondary...

swanriver · 26/02/2010 08:48

Droitwich I live in London but I've never even been to Greenwich
must make an effort to see The Observatory with dcs

Well went to pub last night after school meeting, and house has suffered, in fact house has a hangover
Managed to wash up all dishes-dumped-stacked neatly in sink by dh when I staggered in

mobile has disappeared
as has my brain

so far I dc to school with dad
and two malingering still, so need to cancel physio for ds1 and vet for cat

LIST for today
clean washing pile sort
put away clean dishes, unload dw
still need to rescue playroom - resembles opening scene from Wall-e
finish Aztec homework and sentences homework and communion homework and not mix them all together

missbennett · 26/02/2010 08:50

So and so post just disappeared randomly

Morning all!

Not being nosy at all pa - I think it's interesting finding out about people. GLad school being more helpful this time and I also agree about chocolate. It should be just that. Chocolate. And preferably Cadbury's. Or Thornton's. Or .......

Age is a matter of relativity, I think. For example, DH is 15 years older than me, so I'm always VERY young in comparison Not usually an issue though he wasn't very pleased to hear DD2 telling a friend (obvously in competetive mode) 'Well, my dad's older than yours!'

Today I am going to:
-routines
-hang up washing Dh did yesterday (half a job's a start I suppose?)
-wash kitchen floor as DH seemed to think it would be a good idea to throw coffee all over it so now it's sticky
-ring school attendance officer - DD2 poorly again - nothing serious but part of her Asperger's is that she takes ages to get over being ill - 3 or 4 days where most folk might need 1, 2 at most. So ehr attendance is rubbish and I keep getting letters.....so time to talk. Wish me luck!
-menu plan
-shop

Bedroom will have to wait for next time
om enjoy your lunch and pa your meal with friends.
A good day to everyone else too!

swanriver · 26/02/2010 09:01

Miss Bennett yes dh is older than me too, he bought a SuperTramp Album when I was away for halfterm, and it hit me that his musical taste was from a different era, even if only 5 years earlier. By the time I was 14 it was already things like the Police. I don't usually think of him as a dfferent age from me - just more dog-eared

swanriver · 26/02/2010 09:02

why are my asterisks so temperamental, sometimes they embolden, sometimes they just sparkle

MrsDinky · 26/02/2010 09:23

Morning all,

We have lost a few people haven't we, hope you all reappear soon.

So for today

Row with DS along the lines of "Please put your shoes on now", "blank", I am a short tempered Mum in the mornings, so this escalted rapidly, repeat for teeth brushing, jumper, coat, aargh. - Done, and made up at the school gate
DW - done
Washing - sod it, have done 8 loads in last 2 days = day off
Ironing
Swish and swipe - done
Bedroom - did dressing table yesterday, going to pull all the under bed storage out and wipe dust off lids, and hoover that bit of floor.
Buy local paper, apparently DCs are pictured in there doing half term activities
Go to friend's for coffe
Pay bills, go shopping for odds and sods

Feetheart - conjunctivitis . I've only had it once, found flushing it with cooled boiled salt water helped a lot.

PA - that campsite is new but has very good reviews on UK campsite. I was wondering about the chilli and lemon meringue combo too. Love lemon meringue, ummm.

SR asterisks only work if you leave no spaces in the words, ie MrsDinky - good, Mrs Dinky - no good

Age - I am pretty sure I am the oldest mum in DSs year (Yr 1) . But my DH is a toyboy, albeit only by a few months.

swanriver · 26/02/2010 10:42

ohhh, that's what was wrong.

StillCounting · 26/02/2010 15:07

Hello everyone
Hope you are all OK.

Sorry to be absent since Sunday. Real life proving to be a bit challenging at the moment on various fronts - have fallen off Flying wagon for past 4 days too - but hoping to get back on track this weekend. House not looking too terrible in the circs.

Still haven't had time to read the thread and catch up with all you lovely fledglings but just wanted to say "hi" and "bye" and back soon!!

What's all this about John Noakes's bottom????

Waves to everyone and flaps wings madly!!!!
