Clearing the cobwebs to make everything sparkle - Flylady style

Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.
There is an app that you can customise to suit your schedule and home that I highly recommend.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

• Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
• Tuesday: plan & play
• Wednesday: anti-procrastination
• Thursday: errand day
• Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
• Saturday: family fun day
• Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

• LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
• DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
• LMS: lose/lost my shit
• DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notification.

All I've managed is to keep up with LOLs, still wearing off the rack and shoving clean clothes into baskets instead of putting them away.
My dining room has become the dumping room yet again but I've earmarked tomorrow to sort it out.
Also on my ToDo list is to tidy all my pot plants, pruning etc, while the weather is dry.

Cherry I have to put my clean clothes away too, they are currently in a basket as well. My excuse is Tuesdays I play catch up usually and I worked Tuesday this week, so it's thrown my whole schedule off! Are you feeling better now?

Ditzy thankfully house over here are generally built with a built in closet/ wardrobe.

I'm falling at thread leader this week! I'm so sorry 😞 it's been a very busy week.
The master bedroom now has carpet and we've moved back in there. We also have light now as the electrician installed it yesterday.
The closet/ workout/ fire room now has flooring, it's beautiful 😍
The spare bedroom also has flooring, which is good because DD and her BF will be staying with us next Tuesday night.
The kitchen and dining room also got done yesterday, and really shows that I need to change my kitchen colour. It's been painted, but needs to be changed to a cream. I would say white, but that might be too harsh for that room. I'll paint it, but it's going to have to be next year as I'm too busy before then.

Every room had to be completely emptied out so we've been moving stuff every night after work. I'm tired and grateful for being on a 4 day weekend!
It's Thanksgiving today and there's lots of cooking, eating and drinking to do. Although I do have to start my day with wiping everything down and clearing surfaces in the kitchen as there's dust everywhere 🙄 I got up earlier than I planned, thank you Coco 😞 but only by 30 minutes. Oh, and it's currently snowing here - the first snowfall of the season and we're supposed to be getting 6-10 inches over today and tonight! We'll see.

Thursday is errand day (impossible here today as everything is closed, other than grocery stores for a few hours this morning).
Apparently yesterday's mission was to tidy up the bedside tables, today its the dresser. Get rid of anything that doesn't belong on there (put it in its home or get rid). Place something pretty on top of your dresser. Put your perfumes on a pretty tray and toss what you don't use anymore.

🦃 cooked/ baked and prepped lots - pumpkin pie, creamy butter pecan pie, whipped cream, got ham in slow cooker, veggies & bacon prepped, yams prepped, rolls prepped. DS & DH helped.
🦃 cleaned up as we went 😇

Friday's mission is to strip your bed and remake it, even if it takes a little bit of time, it's worth it!

Here it's the morning after Thanksgiving. I ended up drinking too much sherry (I threw up! I haven't done that in years and don't plan to do it again 🤦‍♀️)
I have been fairly productive though and feeling much better this morning.

Ta Das so far: (almost 10:30am)

❄️ drank my first cup of coffee for the day

We have a tonne of snow! It's still snowing currently, but a light snow. DH is clearing our driveway with the snow blower, DS is shoveling.
Normally the day after Thanksgiving I put the Christmas tree up, but since the carpet is getting replaced next week, I'll have to wait 😪
I do plan on bringing some of my decorations out though this weekend!

Oh wow, look at the snow ❄️ looks amazing and like a winter wonderland on the branches

Totally fallen off the thread. Work and uni have been busy and my motivation for anything home related is at an all time low 🙄

Last night we went to the next town to watch the Christmas lights get turned on by Santa. It was freezing, but worth it. Now it feels like Christmas time! 🎄
This morning we are going back over there, they do a breakfast with Santa, you bring a toy, you get breakfast. We will look at the trees and decorations that have been donated, that money goes to the local hospital and air ambulance.
I will head over with DS and MIL, DH will stay behind and help his dad attach the plough to his four wheeler.

When we get home I'm going to start putting some of my decorations up, mostly lights. I can't put my tree up until the carpet is installed, hopefully that'll be Wednesday 🤞

Saturday is family fun day. What are you all up to?

My family fun was finishing a series (The Good Place) with DS 😁 we have similar humour so there are a few we watch just us two.

I completely stalled in terms of productivity though! Also just realised I’d meant to go to a coffee morning today and totally forgot! Oops. Oh well there will be others.

We ended up spending most of the day at ILs. There was a lot of snow to be plowed. Then they thought of friends who are older than them who haven't been able to leave their house since Thursday (they came to Thanksgiving dinner). DH ended up plowing their driveway also, along with 2 more of their neighbours!
When we finally got home I got some Christmas lights up (not the tree yet as I have to wait until the carpet is replaced). I also had DS bake more rolls for dinner and warmed up the leftovers.
ILs came to dinner, bringing SIL with them and a good time was had by all. Until we lost internet (there was an outage). So we put on How The Grinch Stole Christmas until they left.

I did manage to wash and dry the bathroom towels, twice, as they smelt the first time (they sat in the washer a little too long). As well and rotated the DW.

I have to go grocery shopping today, mainly for food for Tuesday, as DD & her BF are coming for a 2nd Thanksgiving dinner! I have nowhere to put anything though as we have leftovers from Thursday still!

Some of the lights we put up yesterday. DH wanted to make a Christmas tree 🎄 in the window! My view currently whilst drinking my coffee, it's bliss 😊

I'm so worn out I slept all day! Trying to catch up on the chores now. I've done all my Christmas shopping and feel happier now I'm organised, I'm normally more last minute than this.

The snow is beautiful hills but my God, it was freezing today! Right now my phone says it's -1°f (-18°c), the cold is awful! (It's almost 9pm here)

Ditzy I think DH wanted to do that last year too, but I said no. I'm glad I agreed to try it this year, it looks really good!
Sorry you ended up sleeping all day. I'm actually more prepared this year than usual and have most people already bought for! The down side is, if I see something I know someone will love, it'll be hard not to buy that as well!

🥶 stained wood to build another shelf (was cut to size a few years ago, but only just built today!)
🥶 helped DH build and mount that shelf also. It has hooks on the bottom of it for our stockings, but the shelf will stay up year round
🥶 ordered the secret Santa gift for work
🥶 watched the final Harry Potter movie

I guess I thought I did more today, it's been a lovely long 4 day weekend, I don't want it to end!

This week we are starting on zone 5, the living room.
Monday's mission is to put out the hotspots in your living room, to get ready to put decorations up. Only spend 15 minutes on this today (if you need more time, take a break after 15 minutes & go at it again later).
Monday is also the day for the home bleugh. Change the bedding, empty the bins, quick vacuum in the middle of the floor, dust, clean mirrors, mop floor. I don't think it's realistic for most of us to accomplish this all in one hour, but this can be all spread out throughout the week.

I'm back to work tomorrow, hopefully feeling refreshed and ready. Realistically I'm dreading it!

Yesterday DH entertained the kids and I managed to plough through some jobs making me feel a bit more enthusiastic for the week ahead re. Housework!
