Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.
There is an app that you can customise to suit your schedule and home that I highly recommend.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
  • Saturday: family fun day
  • Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notification.

Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

@cosypompoms re podcasts, I use bbc sounds, librivox, apple podcasts, and archived podcasts on websites. Escape Pod is a favourite.

Mostly true crime as long as they’ve got the bad guy, hard sci-fi and speculative fiction rather than fantasy, Scott Sigler and other horror, history.

cosypompoms · 12/11/2023 14:15

@Scourgify I used to love true crime but now it scares me! I've been listening to factual things about health and I absolutely love Just one thing by dr micheal Mosley

HungryHazelEyes · 12/11/2023 16:17

sunny the colour is growing on me, although I'm still planning on painting the tile white again. Passports need to be renewed here too, other than mine! I also need to start some Christmas cards and goodies to send back home.
Scourgify an additional door makes more sense! I'm assuming this area would be the entrance to the house? I think it would work really well, have benches to put shoes on, shoe storage contained, hooks for coats and keys. Correct me if I'm wrong!
THAT how the heck are you?! I have been wondering how things are going for you, it's been a while. 💐
hills lungs not working is not good! I hope the bed rest helps

Tada
👍 ironing for the week
👍 watched the parade on tv as dd2 said she didn't feel well enough to go out (still suffering with a cough after 2 weeks )
👍 dd2 wrote a few Xmas cards
👍 looked at what I have bought already and sorted out into bags ready for wrapping
👍 dd2 wrote an 'ideas' list for Santa
👍 oh made a lovely Sunday roast dinner
👍 dd2 and ds homework
👍 all showered
👍updated the weeks calendar and double checked childcare with Grandma
👍 wrote my Xmas card list
👍 checked what I needed for December 1st (advent calendar's and I got the kids an Xmas book each last year , I didn't think much of it again until I overheard ds and dd1 talking about looking forward to getting a new Christmas book so I think it's the start of a new tradition!)

The downstairs is a mess from the days getting things done but I really cba to do anymore 😩!! I'll regret it in the morning if I don't so just a 10 minute blitz and whatever doesn't get done can wait .

I have started early with the Xmas cards and any handmade gifts this year @HungryHazelEyes - last year was absolutely crazy ! I want to

relax and enjoy the festive season this year ! I find it bizarre that your decorator painted the tiles , I'm happy that you're getting used to the colour of the walls .

@Scourgify and @partypompoms , I listen to the Monday night review crime podcast and also the diary of a ceo .

I feel for you @Bornlazy , I also have raynauds although it tends to be my feet that are effected not so much my hands . Well done for persevering and getting the freezer sorted !

Oh @HillsBesideTheSea I do hope you feel better soon!

How are you @THATissoooFETCH ?

Aw brilliant @HouseorHome ! It's so good to have something you enjoy doing and to look forward to each week !

HungryHazelEyes · 12/11/2023 22:00

born fed and alive is a reasonable day around here!
sunny the tile was already painted previously, which I'm glad about. The original tile was like a pink speckled tile, absolutely hideous!

JewelleryCat · 12/11/2023 22:15

I vacuumed today but that’s about it because I wanted Sunday to be a relaxing day for me

HungryHazelEyes · 13/11/2023 04:06

Jewellery that is okay! Sunday is renew your spirit day (which I forgot to say earlier) and relaxing falls under that for sure!

Ta Das:
🍷 took 2 loads of split wood to other people's houses for them to burn for heat (unloaded from the trailer & attacked nearly for them)
🍷 handwashed dishes
🍷 rotated DW

Not much flying done today. DH had a friend over to help split the wood. His wife and kids came too, one helped, the others were in the house with me (and I really didn't want to entertain today 🙄). DH doesn't understand. They're nice people, just not my people (and I feel awful putting that here! 😞)

Monday marks the beginning of a new zone, zone 3. The bathroom and one extra room.
Monday is also home bleugh day. Change bedding, empty bins, quick vacuum around the house.
Monday's mission is to check supplies in the bathroom and add to the shopping list whatever is needed.

I can safely say that I am not feeling it today. And unfortunately I have to ignore the bed rest thing. However, I have started the day gently.

ta da
🍄find link for a tension rod that is going to stay put
🍄sort out links for those asking for ideas for me for christmas - apparently this year we are going with kitchen tools Halloween Hmm I guess this is adulthood when what you really really want is a doohicky to make making flat bread/batch cooking more easy Halloween Blush
🍄 declutter some wish list bookmarks - either have, link broken, or case of huh? why was that saved
🍄 sort a must get done list
🍄 deal with poorly ds - he needs to stop coughing up his lungs he sounds utterly miserable bless him
🍄 2 loads of washing done
🍄 fancy ass hair and makeup because passport photos needed
🍄 unload and reload DW
🍄 do a fridge assessment - what to go, what needs to be cleaned, what needs to go on the shopping list
🍄 Make a shopping list for today - shops, towns shops in, what from what. Consider the plan of action to minimise the back and forths, and mileage.
🍄 Wash up the grill pans that were left soaking overnight.
🍄 Set the slow cooker to soak.
🍄 Try to figure out where the Christmas cards are.
🍄 Try to figure out where the paperwork that need to get to people (this is a list of about 6 different sets <sigh>)
🍄 Try to figure out why i still have a baby bath - i think it was saved for wool washing/dying.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/11/2023 08:20

Yeah I know, you can say it. That list does not look like it is taking it easy. In my defense a good chunk was sat on arse activity or basic life stuff...

1 responsible grown up to go please!

SingToTheSky · 13/11/2023 08:32

Morning everyone

Saturday
🪜LOL
🪜paid dance fees
🪜hung up LOL
🪜uni work
🪜put Cagletini to bed

Sunday
👖washed jeans
👖hung up jeans
👖lots of uni work

Ugh. Monday. Not in the zone at all. Got way too much to do this week!

po3.1
❗️Breakfast, meds, caffeine
❗️Groom Cagbunny, clip her nails and change her litter tray
❗️Shower and hair wash

I have 57 minutes to do the above, wish me luck 🤣

Bornlazy · 13/11/2023 09:01

Good Luck Sing 😀

Hills I'm sure you know your limits but do try to take it easy until you are better 🛌

I managed another three cupboards in the kitchen yesterday so I'm delighted with that. I feel I want to keep going in the kitchen but that's not the way is it? I'm still very new to this 🙈

DitzyDaffodils · 13/11/2023 16:09

Blooming heck Hills! Take it easy and I hope you recover soon

House I'd love to play an instrument but no time, space or money for it. Well jel

Does he go into the utility often and does he ever go away for work Scourgify? I'd just start with the changes one at a time if he does and not mention it to him. Willing to bet it takes him months to notice at which point you can truthfully say it's always like that. Or at worst that it's been that way for ages and clearly didn't bother him since he didn't even notice. Hard to argue with that

Born the zone changes every week but overall it's better to do something than do nothing. If changing zones is going to upset the momentum you're better off sticking with the kitchen. Although there's an argument to be had for stopping doing something at the point when you still want to do more, as a way of maintaining enthusiasm and preventing boredom

I didn't sleep at all last night so I'm going to have a real lazy day. The home blessings is already done so just a little decluttering to do

cosypompoms · 13/11/2023 16:52

@Searchingforsunnydays that's quite a Christmas based list you've done. Wow it's impressive. I think there's a Christmas prep section on flylady isn't there.

I'll try out those podcasts too. Thanks for the tips.

@HillsBesideTheSea passport photos make me shudder. I can't believe that how I look

Home bleurgh day is tomorrow for me as I run a toddler group today and that's quite enough for me in one day really.

✅ toddler group
✅ lunch with friend.
✅ hoovered upstairs
✅ lol

Bornlazy · 13/11/2023 18:53

Thanks Ditzy I continued in the kitchen for another two cupboards and then left it there. I still have more to do but I am in danger of sickening myself so you are right.

TaDas
🧽 Stripped and washed my bed and DS1's bed
🧽 Made my bed with the freshly washed bedding
🧽 Cleaned two cupboards in kitchen
🧽 Hoovered stairs
🧽 Swept hard floors downstairs
🧽 Lol x2
🧽 Aldi shop and unpacked
🧽 Scrubbed bathroom and cleaned under the sink
🧽 Made dinner

That's it I'm doing no more. I won't do much tomorrow as I'm working so today was double work.

TheMainCharacter · 13/11/2023 20:39

@HungryHazelEyes I’m so glad you clarified it was bathroom and one extra room, I looked at the list of rooms on the app and felt very overwhelmed!

I’ve had a bit of an unproductive day today. Ds was up in the night a couple of times with his cough then we all got up a bit late. Ds stayed off school today and I also had a haircut scheduled first thing so didn’t do my usual power hour before heading out to my job. Just seemed to throw me all day not having had that blast through first thing (I only work 10-12.15 ffs 🙄)and I ended up with 40 minutes to try and get stuff done before the school run and then I was really inefficient and things kept going wrong like I put the duvet in the cover the wrong way round and it didn’t fit properly so had to do it again and I was knocking stuff over as I dusted.

Anyway, on the positive side I have achieved
Morning routine
haircut
LOL x2
work
Stripped and remade my bed
Dusted and vacuumed bedrooms x3 (badly but better than nothing)
quick stop in supermarket
school run
dinner
activity run x2
cleaned bath
had bath (&shaved legs)

about to have a quick tidy up then that’s me done

TheMainCharacter · 13/11/2023 20:41

Oh I didn’t abandon poorly ds while I worked! Dp worked from home this morning!

HungryHazelEyes · 14/11/2023 03:42

pompoms your are right, there is a holiday section on the website. I just had a look on the app and there's nothing there about it.
https://www.flylady.net/d/br/2015/10/20/holiday-cruising-missions-on-google/ this is the best I could come up with. It used to be easier to navigate and read before the upgrade to the website, but it may still come in handy. Remember flylady is US based and Thanksgiving is next Thursday 😱 (the mini freak out is for me, because I don't think I'm ready for it yet!)

character I had to edit my post 3 times before I got everything on there that I needed to post 🤦‍♀️ yes, there is one extra room, a spare bedroom, laundry room etc. Anything you choose that needs attention. Hopefully tomorrow (Tuesday) will be better for you, as far as being productive.

hills that is a long list, even though I do notice that most of it can be done sitting down. My wish list is something I need to work on too!

Ditzy did you manage to get your rest?

Ugh, I'm glad my day is over. Work was super busy, almost not worth being off on Friday!
No ta das at home. A matter of everyone fed no one dead here! Although I did manage to help DH find his clothes & shoes he was looking for 😇. The joys of having the house tore apart and lots of things in totes.
I'm due to talk to the restoration company tomorrow morning. I'm going to need all the luck I can get!

Tuesdays mission is to clean and shine your bathroom sink. Scrub it clean and finish with window cleaner to shine it up, just like your kitchen sink.
Tuesday is also plan & play day. This month's focus is meal planning, so plan your meals, any parties or meet ups etc.

Soooo, I dislocated my knee in my sleep. Apparently I am that old <sigh>

Pompoms i hate hate hate having my picture generally. I don't there are really any pictures of me in the last 10years. But urgh passport and drivers licence pictures are the worst.

I will admit that yesterday i admitted defeat and just bought a box of Christmas Cards because i have no idea how i can access the boxes of Christmas stuff in the chaos. And for a whole £2 for 40 decent cards it seemed like the easiest option.

I am going with a I need to get done list because apparent from wash the jumper ds needs this morning, I am not up and going yet. My phone and I have very different opinions to what "alarm turned off means". My phone thinks i need an intervention and to go right ahead with an alarm Halloween Angry

☕Wash up the food grade buckets that hold the dried beans/flour etc)
unload/reload/run DW
☕ wash pots from last night
☕ fold some washing
☕ Passport application - online
☕ write christmas cards - oversea deadlines are fast approaching and whilst the post office says it can be a smidge closer to Christmas, it has been learnt that doing so may mean that the recipient gets mid to end of January/feb <shrug>
☕ figure out wtaf is for tea
☕ sort out what is needed for tomo's evening meeting
☕tape my knee cap back in the right place and elevate above hip for fluid drainage (No i am not going to the hospital or doc. Popped knees are normal, have happened regularly to me since i was a child, and this is protocol for me. rest of y'all get your butts to a&e if you dislocate a knee. You're gonna want the good pain killers.)

There is probably loads more to be added to the list but I am still BC (before coffee) and the brain no worky

Hope you all have as productive days as you would like

CherryogDog · 14/11/2023 09:00

Morning everyone, just popping in to say hi.
I was so sure November was going to be the month that I kept step with the FlyLady routines but maybe December will be my month 🙃
All I've managed is to keep on top of LOLs, (not put it away and wearing it off the racks) and washing the big pots and pans.
I've been very tired and a bit down for some reason.
Hopefully when I'm back on par it won't be too bad as I've done a lot of decluttering over the last few months.
Went to the dentist yesterday because I thought I'd lost a filling only to be told the tooth was broken and had to come out.
I've not read through all the posts, just a quick skim.
Hope everyone is keeping well and flying high!

TheMainCharacter · 14/11/2023 17:52

Oh no @HillsBesideTheSea , sounds painful!

Today
Morning routine
school run
cleaned shower room inc tidying drawers
work
cleaned bathroom
mopped all hard floors
bought a Christmas present
school run
cooked dinner

House has been extra dusty this week which is annoying as it was all given a good clean last week. No idea why some weeks it’s dustier than others!

cosypompoms · 14/11/2023 20:38

@CherryogDog sorry to hear you are low. Does anything help you?

I've had a full day cleaning at home. I've started to love Tuesdays as the house looks great and I love being at home.

✅ cleaned whole house top to bottom.
✅ planned next weeks meals and did shopping list for tomorrow.
✅ rotated kids toys
✅ lol
✅ hula hooping
✅ tutored for an hour
✅ craft with toddler...started on Christmas cards.

Searchingforsunnydays · 14/11/2023 21:40

Just popping in to say this week so far is a sh**show , no flying done apart from the very basics ! I knew it was going to be a tough week time wise so just trying to look after myself to get through it without beating myself up about what hasn't been done !

I will hopefully be back with a tada list soon 🤪

DitzyDaffodils · 15/11/2023 02:24

Yes thanks hazel all fine now and had a productive day gardening, shopping and tidying up
