Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.
There is an app that you can customise to suit your schedule and home that I highly recommend.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
  • Saturday: family fun day
  • Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notification.

Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

Oh no hills & Cherry both of those ailments sound painful!
character could the extra dust be from wind? Has it been windy there?
pompoms I love my Tuesdays off too!
sunny just do what you can but don't overdo it.
Ditzy that sounds like a good day to me!

Ta Das:
🍁 LOLs x4, including sheets and towels
🍁 took dogs to groomer
🍁 meeting with restoration company, it went well!
🍁 vacuumed main floor (even though the vacuum is broken - I can't get it to stand back up, but DH can!)
🍁 bleached both bathrooms
🍁 shined both bathroom sinks
🍁 cleaned mirrors and glass doors
🍁 bleached kitchen after raw chicken juices leaked when cooking dinner 🙄
🍁 removed my nail polish and applied clear polish instead

I bought new nail polishes today, I'll try those, I bought a couple to coats as well, too see if maybe mine is just too old as they keep going clumpy looking.

I reread my last sentence, it's definitely bedtime! I also don't have the edit button 🤔 it should say I bought a couple top coats today, one shiny, one matte.

Anyway, Wednesday is anti-procrastination day.
Wednesday's mission is to shine our bath & shower, just like our sinks.

I think there's a limited time window to edit Hazel

Ta-da's:

✴️Morning routine ⏰
✴️Swept leaves in the garden this morning 🍂🍃
✴️I'd got up earlier than I wanted because I thought I had a parcel arriving. Closer inspection of the text and googling the company lead to the realisation it was a scam text trying to make me click the web link. I've spent all day tired for nothing 😤
✴️Thought about doing some decluttering this afternoon but ended up just reading my novel instead 📚

HungryHazelEyes · 15/11/2023 19:45

Ah! That makes sense Ditzy especially considering some of the threads and posters on mn. Those scam texts are awful, and only going to get worse closer to Christmas.
pompoms your still doing so well with your hula hoop!

Thursday is errand day.
Today's mission is to head to the other room. For flylady, she says it's the laundry area. Spend just 15 minutes in your laundry area to tidy it up. Put away stray hangers, wipe the washer and dryer down

I never click the link Hazel I always go into my email for the tracking number then Google the company's website to input it. Takes longer but I don't want to risk being scammed

I'm feeling stressed out today and have got nothing useful done. Christmas feels overwhelming this year for some reason. I'm not hosting so I don't really know why

HungryHazelEyes · 16/11/2023 19:56

Oh no Ditzy would it help you to make a list or 2? Get it out of your head so you don't feel overwhelmed?
It's definitely worth taking a couple minutes to check on your package with the actual tracking #. Half the time I haven't even ordered anything so ignore the text anyway!

I've been flying on the routines only. Got a cleaner last few weeks to take care of Home Bleugh, and she scratched my piano last week 😩😩 So annoyed.

Now I have 3 weeks until the move to do some deep cleaning and get rid of few bits of clutter we accumulated over past 8 months. It's mainly children's clothes and few bathroom things which will need to go. Fingers crossed this will be the last move for quite some time.

HungryHazelEyes · 17/11/2023 05:48

Oh Elf it's awful when something is damaged needlessly. I'm finding that other people coming into our home to work on it, do not treat it with the same care and respect that we do. It's depressing. Can your piano be salvaged/ scratch be taken out or disguised?

It was very quiet on the thread today, I hope everyone is okay?

Ta Das:
🦊 work (full 10 hour day as usual)
🦊 got a bank cheque printed and taken over to the restoration company so work can resume (did that on my lunch break)
🦊 moved 10,000 boxes of LVP flooring from the carport into the house (my back sure feels like it was that many anyway)
🦊 dismantled huge desk to clear the floor in the basement, ready for new carpet
🦊 rearranged the furnace room a bit (it has my decorations in there also). I really need more plastic totes in there, and proper shelving!
🦊 wiped countertops down quickly after dinner
🦊 took a bath with Epsom salts to ease my back (it helped a little but it still hurts!)

Friday is clean out your car & purse day. It is also date night.
Friday's mission is to fight the cold & flu season by wiping down door handles, light switches, remote controls, phones etc, try to use antibacterial wipes or spray. Do this in 15 minute bursts. Take a break and finish it up!

That's quite a lot of lifting and carrying Hazel. Sending ibuprofen and a heat pack.
It sounds like your house is coming along nicely, so hopefully you won't need to put up with workmen in your living space for much longer.

Our local one and only piano man would hopefully be able to fix the scratch, worse case scenario may need to change the whole panel if it doesn't come out. It's yet another thing to do. Needless to say, that cleaner is not coming back.

HungryHazelEyes · 17/11/2023 15:16

Elf I do not blame you for getting rid of the cleaner! Hopefully the scratch will be gone without replacing the panel, that sounds expensive!

DitzyDaffodils · 17/11/2023 16:30

I'm ok thanks Hazel, I got a few things done last night in the end. It's going to come down to the decluttering I think. I realized I've got a lot of things hanging around bought because I thought it was a nice idea, something I'd like to do when I get a moment. I'm beginning to think they belong to a fantasy life though. Either I need to work out how and put the effort in to make it happen or accept things are how they are and I'm never going to use them. Either way they'll get used up, I just need to do something and stop procrastinating. I suppose realising there's a problem is the first step to solving it.

cosypompoms · 18/11/2023 07:09

Morning everyone, happy weekend.

We have to visit friends today as they've moved house. I really would like H to go alone but I'll have to show my face and be nice.

I think I'll run round and do the handles today with the antibac. Also want to do the hula hooping so I don't miss a day. @HungryHazelEyes I'm in my third month of it now and as it's only 15 mins I feel I can fit it in.
I've also been listening about intermittent fasting and have been doing that the last 3 months too. Basically I don't snack after our evening meal and I eat at breakfast the next day and I've lost loads of weight. Except this week when I put 200g on. But over 6kg overall so very pleased.

HungryHazelEyes · 18/11/2023 16:30

pompoms I hope that you get to enjoy your friends company. Although I know how it is when you have to socialize when you don't want to.
I'm still impressed that you can hula hoop for 15 minutes!

Today is Saturday, so no missions. It's family fun day.
In this house DH & DS will be going to play air soft this afternoon, so I will have the house to myself. I want to start making some of my goodies, ready for Christmas (caramels & truffles) so I plan on doing a little bit of that today. I work my 2nd job tomorrow.

Last night DH & his friend installed the skirting boards in our bedroom, ready for carpet on Tuesday! I'm actually going to work my Tuesday as Thanksgiving is Thursday and we'll be closed Friday as well. Working Tuesday means I don't have to use any of my vacation time, and gets me and the dogs out of the house while their destroying the flooring in the house!
Things are moving along again at the house, surprising what a little money can motivate them to do!

Ta Das:
🍬 made caramels for Christmas (1st batch of many)
🍬 painted my nails
🍬 LOLs x2
🍬 had dinner out with ILs
🍬 watched the 5th Harry Potter movie

It's been awfully quiet on here today, hopefully that means you've all been having lots of fun!

Sunday is renew your spirit day.

I, however, have to work my 2nd job, followed by the exciting grocery shopping 🙄 DH will be coming with me though, which could be good, or it could end up bad (he puts random stuff in the trolley so it ends up more expensive than if he didn't come!).

I hope everyone is well 🍒👋

Morning everyone ,

Thanks for you kind words during the week - unfortunately it will be the same this week but it should be the last week that I work extra hours so hopefully I will be back with it soon . Most routines have been followed and I've been clearing hotspots when I have a few minutes spare . Todays plan is to spend some time on the bathroom and get ready for the week. I also need to do a few things for Christmas, such as dd2 writing a few more cards and preparing for dec 1 ( all advent calendars have been bought , I just need to wrap the Christmas books and find the refillable Calendar) I'm out all weekend next weekend so need to be fully prepared 🙈

CherryogDog · 19/11/2023 10:04

Morning everyone, I'm slowly making my way out of the naughty/sick corner.
Last week is one I'm glad to see the back of.
I've been a bit down for a while, no particular reason. On Monday I went to the dentist, thought I'd lost a filling, but turned out the tooth had broken and needed to come out.
I'm completely terrified of the dentist, I had a really bad experience as a child (found out recently that he was nicknamed the butcher) so I'd taken some diazapam and as always the after affects mean I randomly burst out crying.
I saw a new dentist at the practice who was absolutely brilliant, numbed my gums with gel before the injection (why have I never been offered this before?) and it was all over in a few minutes.
Then on Wednesday I had to have Cherrydog senior pts, I knew that the day was coming soon, but it was like she had sudden onset dementia overnight.
I got to spend the day cuddling with her, but I'll never get to stroke her soft little face again and I feel so broken.
Cherrydog junior is lost without her, we had 5 dogs at one time but they were very bonded.
Anyway, on Friday night managed to drop a tin of baked beans and the trajectory and spatter of them was huge! I got the complete arse at that point and stomped off to bed.
And by the morning they were stuck rock hard to every surface.
So yesterday I scrubbed my kitchen from top to bottom, DP helped do the kick boards, I bought lunch from the corner shop and we had takeaway for dinner so it stayed clean 😆.
I do mop when I can be bothered, but the corners and edges get neglected so it felt good to get them clean.
Sorry for the long post, and for not keeping up with everyone's news, I'll catch up soon 🌺

HungryHazelEyes · 19/11/2023 15:25

sunny you have done well, especially considering how busy you are!

Cherry 💐 I am so, so sorry you've had such a hard and trying week. Making that decision is so hard and not one that you made lightly.
Dried on beans is awful as well, I'm glad your DP helped you clean that up. I also don't blame you for not cooking to avoid making a mess again, I would probably do the same!

OP posts:
cosypompoms · 19/11/2023 19:07

@HungryHazelEyes thanks for that I'm thrilled with the weight loss. It's not exactly effortless but it's not dreadful and it feels sustainable rather than a diet. I'm not snacking between meals and I'm not eating after the evening meal. I'm definitely viewing it as a lifestyle thing so am listening to podcasts about intermittent fasting to keep on track.

@CherryogDog so sorry about losing your dog. It's all absolutely awful and meals sis wonder why we have them.

H and I have had a row basically over him being a grumpy arse because he's hungry. It's getting a bit of a weekend habit and I'm sick of it. I don't go round biting peoples heads off as I haven't had lunch. Grow up! So I've renewed my spirit with wine whilst cooking. I love cooking with a glass of red or two!

DitzyDaffodils · 19/11/2023 19:40

Congrats on the weightloss Pompoms. Sorry H has been such a PITA. They definitely do need to grow up, all the men like this, it's so awful to be on the receiving end of it

RIP cherrydog senior 💐. And given the week you've had, I'm sorry I laughed at your beans

You've done well keeping up with routines Sunny

I hope the shopping trip works out ok Hazel

I've been slowly plodding along with the decluttering and keeping up with routines

DomesticElf · 19/11/2023 21:19

Pompoms I am doing intermittent fasting too, as well as limiting carbs, reducing portions, and generally cleaning up my diet. So far I've lost 8kg over past 11 ish weeks. I am slowly regaining my shape.

Cherry 💐

Hazel what are you doing for Thanksgiving?

We went for a weekend away into local wilderness. It was lovely to do some hiking, even with two small children in tow. My diet wheels have truly came off today when I stuffed my face with a venison burger (with chips) for lunch and a full plate of pasta for dinner. Back on it again tomorrow.

Also cranking up a notch my flying from tomorrow onwards as well.
