Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.
There is an app that you can customise to suit your schedule and home that I highly recommend.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
  • Saturday: family fun day
  • Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notification.

Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

Hard to believe it's December already. Living room hotspots duly put out. This is the first Christmas in ages that I've felt even vaguely organised.

Sorry you have to go back to work tomorrow Hazel

Hope you managed that mountain of laundry eventually Character

Not quite - still only 27th November!! Don't wish this month away any quicker! I'm really behind with preparations for Christmas this year...

DitzyDaffodils · 28/11/2023 00:07

Haha true, Jakie and welcome to the thread

HungryHazelEyes · 28/11/2023 04:57

Froggie I do love my fairy lights 😍 once I have my living room decorated the rest of the way ie the tree up, I'll post some more pics. I do love the term reset as far as tidying up a room. I may have to steal that one!

Lists help me too character especially ta das when it feels like I haven't done much.

Ditzy you scared me for a minute 😱 but it's not December yet!

@mum2jakie welcome to the thread 👋
I'm behind with a couple things for Christmas, but most gifts are sorted now. I make truffles & caramels for Christmas (started selling them a few years ago to people I know, but not selling any this year). I have only made one batch of caramel so far, I've normally done far more! I do have one order I accepted for a very special person, and even that isn't anywhere near done!

So on that thought of December, is there anyone who can volunteer to run the thread? I can do it if needed, but I have a feeling I may be more absent than present in December!

Tuesday is plan & play day.
Tuesday's mission is to clear your living room of anything that doesn't belong. Only spend 15 minutes on this. (Although imo I feel like flylady skips over that you actually need to put them away where they belong) so don't just toss them in another room to move about next week 🤣

Building work completion has been moved to Easter. And the job is yet again much bigger than thought <sobs>

Only Christmas prep i have is presents and making sure everyone gets to the right place. Teen has his advent calendar already. I have bets he forgets it again this year Grin I have made myself one with things that i have bought anyway. Some washi tape (wrapped individually), some stitch markers, blocking pins, darning needles, etc. The teen has numbered it so i have no idea what i am getting on what day. I need something to help me feel the season this year. I am totally not feeling it. And it is totally not safe to have my normal advent candle.

Over the last week I have:
batch cooked
sorted the freezer
filled 2 skips
written my most of my Christmas cards.

Slept in today. not great but was really needed. But now i need to get going. Making today errand day because i need to run errands today.
Drop in prescription request
post office run
Figure out what is for tea
figure out what length of material is needed for a circle skirt. I need to do the maths on my circumferences. And who said you would never use 2 pie r in real life <sigh>
head into town for shop errands
Consider when can fit in a banking run.

I should move. My joints are angry at me today.

HungryHazelEyes · 28/11/2023 16:11

hills Easter?!?!?!😱 that's awful! I noticed filling up 2 skips is on your list, is that building work related?

Well today DD & her BF are coming for their Thanksgiving dinner. They will show up early enough that they can help me cook 😍

Last night I made the brine for the turkey, it has been in it overnight. I will be getting the smoker started in about an hour. It'll be interesting how it goes today, it's so cold outside I'm worried it won't be able to regulate.
So far today I have taken DS to school, made a list of what needs to be done today (food wise) & I'm currently drinking my 2nd cup of coffee.

The restoration company called DH this morning: to let him know they'll be here today to demo carpet! 🤣😆🤣 ummmmm, no. Today is the worst day possible for that! We were told Wednesday. He didn't like that answer as they'll need to be here early tomorrow morning (I doubt DD & BF will be happy about that, but oh well!).

So after dinner tonight, we will need to empty the living room, and possibly downstairs rooms so this can all be done. I might call in sick tomorrow 😆 not really, I don't want to be here!

hills I forgot to mention, I love your advent calendar idea, and to have DS number it is brilliant!

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/11/2023 21:43

Yes, apparently the tip doesn't take plaster board, fibre glass etc so skip was the best way to dispose of that and rubble.

I only got the prescription and the post office run done. I will be honest the further days has killed my ability to function right now.

mum2jakie · 28/11/2023 22:26

@DitzyDaffodils @HungryHazelEyes
Thanks for welcome. I am a thread lurker - using thread for motivation and inspiration - but the premature December celebration led me to post!

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/11/2023 22:47

You are more than welcome to join the chatter and post more regularly. Nice to meet you @mum2jakie

EversoDisorganised · 28/11/2023 23:07

Hi all, sorry for being AWOL most of the month, I have been lurking a bit and trying to keep up. Happy to take over for December if needed.

JewelleryCat · 29/11/2023 18:25

Yes, I’m AWOL too, sorry. I can only keep up with the basics at the moment so no real big decluttering. Maybe next year for that

HungryHazelEyes · 29/11/2023 19:24

ED thank you for volunteering for next month, I'm just not going to be able to!

Sorry for lack of links for today. Yesterday was crazy! We got the living room emptied last night, for them to call and cancel on us this morning, when they found out last night 🤬 to say I'm pissed off is an understatement!

DitzyDaffodils · 30/11/2023 02:03

Aaargh! Hazel that sucks. I hate when people do that

I've had an unproductive day too. Must get back on it tomorrow

HungryHazelEyes · 30/11/2023 06:08

Thursday is errand day.
It's also the last day in the living room. Have a detailed vacuuming session. Try to get under the furniture, but do not hurt yourself in the process. If you can't get underneath, get as close as you can. Use the tools on your vacuum to help you.

If you're interested, Wednesday's mission was to spend 5 minutes dusting your decorations.

YesTaDas:
🍪 worked all day
🍪 paid for dinner & show (local high school fundraiser)
🍪 baked chocolate chip blondies for potluck at work today
🍪 handwashed remaining dishes from 2nd Thanksgiving dinner
🍪 scrubbed countertops
🍪 went to bed late.. again!

I just can't seem to get to bed at a decent hour lately! I might have to start taking my shower before DS, instead of after he goes to bed.
I'm going to have to try it as I'm not functioning fully on less than 6 hours of sleep every night 😴

I have been down and out with a mirgraine today but have managed to delete 2500 emails. People are fed, dishwasher is on. And I am working my way through password changes for everything.

So i am going to call it a success, even though i have spent most of the day not being able to see through my eyes and feeling like crap/sleeping.

TheMainCharacter · 01/12/2023 13:50

Hi everyone sorry I’ve been rubbish this week. Had what I thought was a migraine at the beginning of the week (headache, nausea, funny vision, off balance) but it’s lasted the whole week just without the headache after the first couple of days. So unsure if it’s a virus. But hard to read and post with my funny vision so haven’t been online much.

We have most of our Christmas decorations up now, we were going to do it at the weekend but dp has to work all weekend and had Wednesday off so he got it all out and got most of it up then and I’ve just done a couple of bits since.

@HungryHazelEyes sounds like your house is coming along well, glad you had a good thanksgiving

Feel better soon @HillsBesideTheSea

Thanks for the new thread @EversoDisorganised , will move over there now, only just seen it and have already typed all of this 🤣
