I have these brother max pots for small portions of food for DD2. They have a special poppy-out bit in the bottom (technical term) so you can push the frozen cubes of food into ziplock bags

redlac · 08/01/2012 22:12

I think you might be right carrots

I'm a cheapskate and use old take away plastic containers and the really cheap take away like ones from tesco (on the shelves next to foil, sandwich bags, etc)

Scout19075 · 08/01/2012 22:22

I love plastic containers and have a variety. I also use plastic packaging like ice cream containers, bites containers (like the Gu tubs), cream cheese, etc. That's part of my problem -- I packrat that kind of thing. But I've been brutal this week and have been chucking plastic containers, yogurt pots, paper towel tubes, etc into the recycling left right and center. When I get around to making some of the toys/games for TS I will save them again.

MrScout is getting a frosty reception. I'm partially to blame as well and can admit it but I'm not going to tell him that yet. He often says stuff about ironing but he takes an hour to do one shirt not very well and gets in my way when I'm trying to do other stuff. Just easier if I do it (and get it done in five minutes).

Done:
Dishes including slow cooker
Recycling from kitchen out
Nappies out
Flatten boxes in car (along with unfitting ironing board cover to be returned)
Ironing

Still to do before bed:
Kitchen trash out (though may just leave it by the front door so MrScout has to do it in the morning)
Write out Monday to do list
Bedtime routine

Eggrules · 08/01/2012 22:25

I have zip lock bags for liquid but think the takeaway boxes stack better in the freezer and are a good portion size.

Very tired so off to bed, night all.

carrotsandcelery · 09/01/2012 06:59

Morning all!

This is far too early to be up playing Moshi Monsters with ds's models.

carrotsandcelery · 09/01/2012 07:01

I am dressed to shoes, as are the dcs.

Bags packed, lunches packed, link book mostly written...

Have a good morning everyone. I will be back late morning when I get back.

Back to work and school for us today :( I'm having a quick cuppa before getting dd up. Her school uniform and bag are all out and packed. DH off to work with a grumble and live had a crappy nights sleep - luckily no bosses seem to be back this week so I can ease myself in gently

Hopefully my flying motivation will still be here by the end of the week - I might need some prodding with sticks

bessie26 · 09/01/2012 08:12

Morning all!

Sorry for all of you who had a bad night sleepwise.
You have my sympathy!

I think we may have cracked it here as DD is starting to have more and more nights of sleeping all night, which is great news for me! I am starting to feel more "normal" again.Smile

Have done so far: Breakfast, get dressed, DS to school, one load of washing on and have made beds.

To do:
fill in nursery forms
wash up
stock check food in kitchen
small shopping list
"What's for dinner"
charge up phone
check bank account Shock
update calender
Check Fly website and see what else I should be doing.

liveinazoo · 09/01/2012 10:38

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 11:00

I like your story Zoo Grin

I have made no progress yet as my DM and "stepdad" came to visit so I have been sitting chatting for the last hour. SD commented how tidy the living room looked! I was Shock as there was still Lego bricks strewn across the floor and various other toys (although not as many as last time they came). Wink

I feel an early lunch brewing as I am feeling peckish!

liveinazoo · 09/01/2012 11:10

sounds like a good plan!(also starving.soups cooking)
dp sheepishly just gave me a "present" from his mum(she hates me)....
how clean is your house book(he told her im cleaning up the place.not sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult!
just had a t break and a big purple one bar(reduced to 10p in my local sainsboWink)
bath clean and bathroom sink
may have a look and see anything useful in the book.will report back with any tips i find!

Eggrules · 09/01/2012 12:08

toothache for me and cold for Dh meant a rubbish night sleep for us both. Sounds like others had similar nights.

My big news is that the ironing backlog is no more.

Going to empty DW, tidy kitchen and sort dinner. I am off work today and so may have lunch and then watch a film.

Eggrules · 09/01/2012 12:13

I am still confused.

What is a 5 minute room rescue?
How is this different from a 2 minute hotspot (done twice a day)
15 mins zone de cluttering
Morning and night time routine

I haven't even started swish and swipe. Is the house tidier because I am doing housework all day?

Scout19075 · 09/01/2012 12:35

I'm having a pause Toddler's just gone down for his nap so I'm having some peace to eat my lunch and play on -- look at stuff on the internet.

I was going to ask what's the difference between 15 minute zone decluttering and the 27 Fling Thing? Surely if you're decluttering you're flinging?

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 12:55

Hi all, I have to be honest, I'm not sure myself.

Hopefully Carrots or Bessie can help when they come back.

I am going to attempt a link (However I am a Techno-dinosaur and not sure if I will do this right) Blush

Please don't shout if I get it wrong!

www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/fly-faq/

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 12:57

YAY! Right this link takes you to frequently asked questions so hopefully this might help.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 13:01

Egg I think a hotspot is like a pile of newspapers or pile of paperwork, somewhere where things get dumped on a daily basis.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 13:11

I have been trying this (Flylady) on and off since August last year and there is still bits I don't quite get.
I don't want to put you off cause flylady does work! You just have to sort of adjust it a bit to fit in with your life.
And don't feel too worried if you don't manage to get everything done, there is always tomorrow! Smile

I think Bessie and Carrots have done it before so they will know more about it.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 13:24

Just to let you know Toffeewhirl has explained it quite well on the flyers thread - look for her round up on the latest page.

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 09/01/2012 13:26

(Page 30) "New years resolution" thread.

right I really must get orf here now!

Scout19075 · 09/01/2012 13:34

In just the past week I have found parts of my kitchen/dining room I had forgotten existed. I have found the fling thing and a timer (for declutter) makes things more manageable. Must admit to combining the fling and declutter and even if I hit 15 minutes won't stop until I have (minimum) 15 things in recycling and (minimum) 15 things in the bin. Today I went a bit nuts in the diningroom/kitchen (since the zone is kitchen). Am thinking of doing a 15 minutes/fling in the living room today, too, but only if I get the other jobs on my list done. I'm afraid if I start doubling up zones/rooms too much I'll burn out, though, and I'm determined to see this through.

Toddler and I are going to go to toddler indoor-outdoor-run-around group this afternoon (drop in group and starts at 2). On the way there we'll stop at the tip to drop off the recycling -- glass, cardboard boxes and some general stuff since my curbside bin is nearly full. Shock Our bins are collected fortnightly, alternating weeks. It's a bit of a pain, really, but definitely doable in a normal cycle. However I have not been normal the last week! I have a HUGE pile of papery stuff to go out and just need to rejig things in the bin to fit it all in (and "hide" from MrScout as, you know, that empty envelope is special!).
