I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Hello I'm a flyer of old but have well and truly lapsed, hope I can join?
I also struggle because of my long days(leave home at 7.15 am, get back about 7.30pm, so not sure how much I can do but will try!!
I started yesterday-cleaned my sink!!

bellabelly · 02/01/2011 15:53

Hello all, I need to join this thread as house is a MESS! I have just been cleaning my sink. Am going to do one other thing today (not sure what yet) and start properly tomorrow.

WannabeNigella · 02/01/2011 16:43

Ok, have got dressed and done hair and put make-up on.

Shined sink.

Have also -
moved all the rubbish out of garage, hoovered, wiped down all worksurfaces, put all Christmas decs away.

Will I be able to keep the motivation up though?

I think we should all be very pleased with ourselves, especially as it is a Sunday!

SharonGless · 02/01/2011 17:09

Shined my sink last night but failed on second babystep. However I have only got two more days of holidays before am back into the mayhem of reality so am letting myself off that.
I have done the Xmas decs and really cleaned the lounge. Not decluttered it yet but it is clean at least!I have done my spreadsheets of xmas cards and presents for this year so all sorted on that front.

Tomorrow project is the children's bedrooms to put away the toys and declutter their wardrobes.

CointreauVersial · 02/01/2011 17:17

Hello all.

I've been very productive, and am sitting at my pc with a shining fly-lady halo!

Shined the sink yesterday, and dh did the one in the utility room too, as we had a drinks party at lunchtime, so it was filled with ice and bottles! After everyone left, I tidied away all the food, loaded the dishwasher (twice) and cleaned the sink for a second time.

Then, this morning I got up and dressed (no make-up, as I haven't left the house), did breakfast, took down all the Christmas Decs and the tree, and packed it neatly into two boxes for the loft. I have also hoovered the living room and wiped down all the surfaces. Next job is to make a start on sorting the loft, as dh has just put some shelves up in there (it's a big loft....).

I know what she means by getting dressed completely - I am completely useless until I have got dressed and put in my contacts, or glasses, and can waste a whole day if I don't get a good start.

It will be interesting to see if this can be kept up once I go back to work on Tuesday....

DietDiva · 02/01/2011 17:41

Hi everyone, can I join in? This is just what i'm looking for to get me motivated into sorting out my house but never know where to start.

Do I just check thread everyday to find out task for the day?

noeyedear · 02/01/2011 17:44

Hi, I need to join too- house looking respectable, but will soon, as usual, descend into a tip! Baby No 2 due in March. Need to take advantage of the 'nesting' stage, without just stomping around in a huff moaning about how much stuff we have and get on with it! What do we do? Join the site as well as look on this thread? I tried before but need motivation!

SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 02/01/2011 18:25

Complete failure today! Wasn't feeling 100% and have spent most of the day sat watching films! i have fixed washing machine blockage and cooked chicken casserole though!
I might aim for Tuesday when children are all back at school!

Amber789 · 02/01/2011 18:30

I have downloaded the Home Routines app that Guacamohohohole mentioned on the first page. It's great - thanks!

twinterror · 02/01/2011 18:58

sink is shined and has been maintained for 2 days despite cake baking etc, have decluttered kitchen and bedroom and made to do list for 2011 divided into sections:

section1: things for jan and feb that need to be done on a specific date e.g ring friend its her birthday

section 2: things for jan/feb that have a deadline e.g purchase bday present by x date

section 3: other things I want to get done in Jan

section 4 is a table divided by sections: garden, house etc with everything else I want to get done

I am aiming to (mend the shredder) and do 5 bits of shredding and one bit of paperwork sorting a day.

have made list of everything in fridge/freezer now doing menu to use it up

feel I am in control for 2011 - bring it on!

aPixieInMyCaramelLatte · 02/01/2011 19:42

twinterror That sounds great.

I made dp sit down on Saturday and sort through all the paperwork and got rid of a black bin bag full of stuff that we need to shred.

I'm liking your 2011 list though.

Yesterday Dp sat at the computer and did a spreadsheet of all his debts that still need to be paid off (previous marriage) and how and when we can pay them. H egave us a rather generous amount of time and it came to 6yrs but I reckon we'll be clear of them in 3/4yrs.

Sink isn't going to get shined tonight as I'm bleaching all my dishcloths over night so it will be done first thing in the morning.

I think tomorrow's babystep is just to carry on doing what we've already been doing so it'll give a few people chance to catch up.

I'm usually up around 6am with the baby so if no-one is up before me I'll link into babysteps 1, 2 & 3.

detachandtrustyourself · 02/01/2011 20:10

Shined sink, full of pots again. Put lipgloss on. (didn't last long). Cleaned toilet. Done a wash and dry. Sticking with these each day for now, so I can keep it up. Good ideas posters about shredding/sorting paperwork. Might wait till dcs at school. Or maybe do a few sheets a day until then. Did not properly get dressed. (I still think when buying clothes "could I sleep in this" and get away with wearing next day.)Going to do pots again now. It is good to have support and encouragement of others on here to get motivated.

farming4 · 02/01/2011 20:38

Sitting here with a sink that for the first time in months is not full of dishes! I'm feeling rather proud of myself - 2 washes through, 2 kitchen cupboards de-junked and cleaned, the big pile of magazines in the corner now in the re-cycling box and the downstairs bathroom scrubbed to within an inch of its life. Having a well deserved glass of wine now. Love the Flylady comment how it didn't get in a mess in 1 day so it won't be fixed in 1 day (or something to that effect!)

Guacamole · 02/01/2011 20:42

I cleaned out and sorted out the dreaded cupboard under the stairs but I was in my pjs, the flylady would definitely NOT approve, but I did shower and get dressed afterwards. DH and I have just taken down the Xmas decorations. And I shall shine my sink after Miss Marple.
My house feels naked without the Xmas tree!

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2011 21:00

Evening all.
I haven't shined my sink yet, but will do. I'm not going to finish the washing up though, just move it aside for the morning.

I noticed omeone eaarlier mentioned the home blesing hour for tomorrow. You obviously can all do whatever you like in terms of housework, but just be careful not to take on too much right now and crash and burn.
The babysteps are just that, babysteps and work to establish a set routine by doing one thing at a time.
In a ec, I will link babystep 3.

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2011 21:02

babystep 3
For tomorrow

Guacamole · 02/01/2011 21:06

Ooohhh tomorrow is easy too, good! DHs last day of leave don't want to be lots of housework... Getting dressed and shining my sink will do me just fine!

Carrotsandcelery · 02/01/2011 22:15

Sink shined but no longer dressed and in day shoes - pjs rock!

Unwind · 03/01/2011 07:57

Good morning - am dressed to shoes, with shiny sink and have just spent 15 minutes clearing the accumulated junk off a chest of drawers in my bedroom.

I want to copy twinterror's list for 2011 but feel scared, and I need more time than I will have today. I really want to sit down with DH and figure out what we want to get done by the end of 2011.

WannabeNigella · 03/01/2011 08:06

Wow Unwind, you're being good so early in the day. I'm not dressed yet as DH didn't get in till early hours from work so had to sneak down with dc. Am lazily sitting in chair browsing mumsnet!

SilveryMoon · 03/01/2011 08:10

Me to Wannabe Grin
I'm debating whether to take the dc's to the kids club cinema showing.
95p per ticket. The film is The Princess and The Frog.

SilveryMoon · 03/01/2011 08:12

Just had another look at the website and gonna leave today and go on saturday when they are showing the last Shrek

sparklyjewlz · 03/01/2011 08:32

What's today's baby step?

SilveryMoon · 03/01/2011 08:35

Hi sparkly I linked it last night, it's just to do what we've already done. So get dressed to shoes and shine your sink

SilveryMoon · 03/01/2011 08:35
