I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Grin

Sink shined! De-cluttered and cleaned my counters too :)

farming4 · 01/01/2011 19:00

May I join too please? SAHM with 4 dc under 8 so house is a bomb site. Up for anything which can help me keep on top of things instead of just sitting looking at it all crying into my coffee :o

APixieInMyMulledWine · 01/01/2011 19:03

I have done a HUGE de-clutter today.

Bags for charity shop- 5
Bags for tip- 2

More to do tomorrow. Grin

I had a "we'll keep it just in case" problem going on but no more. No more 'Just in Cases' it's all going.

Dinner dishes will be done after my cup of tea and the sink will then be shined.

Anyone know what happens tomorrow or is it the same?

Fruitpastels · 01/01/2011 19:34

I would like to join please?! I have 2 DS' 5 yrs and 13 months. I work from home 3 days a week. I'm a tidy person at heart, but with small DC I find it hard to keep on top of things. I have shined my sink this evening and it's lovely to see it gleaming Grin

WannabeNigella · 01/01/2011 19:34

Day 2 is get fully dressed and do your hair and make up! Hee hee, oh and shine your sink again.

Guacamole · 01/01/2011 19:47

Okay I'm in... I have to admit I've always found this a bit baffling, shining my sink? I always wipe down my sink and worktops before I go to bed, and tomorrow is get dressed and shine my sink again? I always get dressed?
But hey ho, I'm up for trying it out.
How will we be distinguishable from the experienced 'flyers'.

Unwind · 01/01/2011 19:51

It is a gradual start - you are obviously already half way there Guacamole Grin

Eventually it is a full on routine and it really works. Starting slowly lets the habits build up, and each new step does not seem so onerous.

WannabeNigella · 01/01/2011 19:54

Just got Home Routine app and I LOVE it!

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 20:06

Just shined my sink so am now sitting with a glass of wine.
How about whoever is up and on-line first posts the links for each days step?

Guacamole · 01/01/2011 20:39

I too have just shined my sink, I might have got a bit carried away. I've Cillit Bang'ed it to within an inch of it's life and I've chucked a load of bicarb, white vinegar and boiling water down the plug hole. I have to say it's VERY shiny. I'll not be so thorough in the future but I thought I'd start off well. Grin

Guacamole · 01/01/2011 20:41

The app is a good one isn't it? I'm forever messing about customising it!

Fruitpastels · 01/01/2011 20:51

Sounds good to me Silvery.

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 21:51

Guacamole That sounds fab. There won't ever be a need to be that thorough again. You have now got it hygenically clean, and as long as you give it a wipe after use and dry it off, spray the glass cleaner on it at the end of the day, it will continue to sparkle.

MummyNoLuck · 01/01/2011 22:34

I could do with de-cluttering and getting my house generally clean, motivation is the key, and I just dont have it. It says shine your sink so you see your face in it every morning..my sink is white...so errr dont think I'll be seeing no smiley faces Envy
Ive just got the home routine app though, so its a start

APixieInMyMulledWine · 01/01/2011 22:37

Oooo Make Up Eh? Ain't done my make-up for ages.

Might not get it done until 8pm due to my 15week old boob monster but I'll try.

See, seems so simple and I'm already worrying if I can do it. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 01/01/2011 22:53

Evening everyone. I am struggling at the first hurdle. My sink is dark, dark grey, almost black and matte so I can't shine it. I am hoping that giving it a really thorough scrub and polishing the tap will count as a "shine" in this case?
Very pleased that I have done it despite having 10 people round for a three course meal, drinks and after drinks nibbles!

SharonGless · 01/01/2011 23:00

Only just seen this thread - can I join you please. Work shifts but gone back full time now and am really struggling to keep on top of everything. Would love to have a cleaner but failing that can I fly with you

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 23:00

Carrots Sounds like you've done a good job. I think as long as you get into the habit of wiping it down and drying it off so there are no water marks, then it counts

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 23:01

Welcome Sharon
There is a link a little bit up the thread for our fist task today.

SproutsMakeTortoiseFart · 01/01/2011 23:02

I was on the original FLY threads too (Tortoise) but have lapsed badly and i need to get back into it. | didn't get into the routines properly last time so maybe something i can work on. Smile
Will start by shining sink tomorrow. Smile

Carrotsandcelery · 01/01/2011 23:03

Do I do the sink last thing at night or do I just have to do it once every day whenever I get the chance?

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 23:06

The idea is to shile your sink before you go to bed so that you are greeted in the morning by a nice clean sink.
However, like anything else, you have to tweak a few things to fit in with yourself and what you and your family can manage.
If it suits you better to do it at lunchtime or in the morning, do it then, just get it done and do it routinely.

Carrotsandcelery · 01/01/2011 23:08

Hmmmm! Might get up and do it again then...

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 01/01/2011 23:08

Heyo Tort., I was on the threads with you Wink

I haven't done my sink yet Blush , going to do it in a min. I think you are supposed to have it at least looking the same last thing at night so you wake up to a nice clean, shiny sink (rather than a heap of dirty dishes ConfusedBlush)

Might pop out and treat myself to some house slippers tomorrow Grin since it's dress to shoes...?

ASLD I don't likw wearing my shoes indoors.
We are in a flat and have hard wood floors, so don't want to piss of my downstairs neighbour.
In the winter I wear slippers and in the summer, flip-flops
