I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? carrots my sink is matt black too, but I figured I'd just give it a really good clean first off (when I get home, am staying with family atm) and then just work on keeping the watermarks & limescale under control...

I'm new at all this, but I think you are supposed to clean it before you goto bed ( as then it's all nice for you first thing in the morning) but I reckon you can do it whenever suits you best.

SharonGless · 01/01/2011 23:16

Bugger had better go and shine my sink then and get rid of all the collection of shite around it. OK will see you in morning for the second babystep

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 23:18

Sharon Don't worry about clearing the shit around the sink. leave all that, just clean the sink.
Thi sis a baystep, just do as instructed, the rest falls in later Wink Do not do more than needed.

SharonGless · 01/01/2011 23:36

Ok sink shined after I moved the dishes left on the draining board. I love coming down to see sink all clear - off to bed now. Can I declutter tomorrow then as well as my babysteps?

Carrotsandcelery · 01/01/2011 23:42

Ok sink rescrubbed and taps reshined. Need to find the hand cream now!

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2011 01:21

Sharon, you can do whatever you like! The babysteps are in place to ensure we make a start without getting overwhelmed.
She does have loads of stuff on the flylady website, including ways to do little and often to get ontop of big jobs.
With the babysteps, we start slow but it does pick up.
I am a few days ahead as I restarted last week but am going to wait for everyone else so we are all at the same stage.

Morning all
Babystep2

How did getting up to a nice shiny sink feel?
My sink and draining board was covered in cat paw-prints (we have 2 cats)

zulubump · 02/01/2011 09:01

Morning all! I shined my sink last might despite the feeling that I couldn't be bothered and what's the point etc. Was very nice to come down to it that way this morning! Am about to go dress and do make-up. I've got no house shoes tho, only slippers. Not about to go and buy a pair especially!

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2011 09:36

I do think she has a point when she says we behave differently to when we are wearing our shoes to our slippers though.
Even if I put on a pair of flip-flops I feel alot less slobbish.

I'm not doing make-up today. Whilst I am on school holidays (I am a TA) I like to give my face a break Smile

Today is my designated clean clothes day so I have to catch up with the ironing and get all the non-iron clothes (socks, pants etc) put away and out of the airing cupboard.

Normally, sunday would also be cooking day, but I haven't defrosted any meat so will cook the weeks dinners tomorrow and then I am all set to return to work on tuesday.
(we get home late so I have home-made frozen meals I send to the CM for the kids)

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 02/01/2011 10:21

Morning everyone!
I've seen the FLY threads but been to scared to jump in when everyone is much further into it so this seems perfect!

Can I join in?

DH is away so I'm thinking if I get in to a routine before he comes home it should be much easier to stick to it when he's back!

I've got friends coming to stay for a few days so I really need to get on with things before they get here this afternoon.
So... I'm off to shine my sink and get dressed Blush... it was going to be a lazy Sunday morning but that wouldn't be a very good start would it!? Grin

Oh, and Happy New Year everyone!

Carrotsandcelery · 02/01/2011 11:07

Morning everyone. I am dressed and have even put on make up and jewellery but only because we are going to the pantomime. I don't usually wear make up unless I am going out at night. I am afraid I won't be wearing make up every day. I will wash and properly dry my hair every morning though if that is an acceptable alternative.
Is this all I have to do today apart from shining my sink tonight? It is lovely this morning to start the day with a clean sink Grin

APixieInMyMulledWine · 02/01/2011 11:22

Well, it was lovely walking in to a nice shiny sink this morning.

I have had a shower and put clean 'house' clothes on and trainers which has obviously worked coz I've already taken the bins out and put more bags for charity shop in the car.

I've brushed my hair and tied it back but haven't had a chance to dry it or put make-up on yet.

I will get there, promise. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 02/01/2011 11:24

Well done Pixie - we are off to a flying start!

Dosey · 02/01/2011 11:25

Hi, I am jumping on board too. Despite drinking too much wine last night, I polished my sink before I went to bed and got up this morning and got straight dressed, hair and make up done. This gave us time to take the dog for a run in the woods and do some painting stuff with dds. Usually I will be smooching around in my pjs all morning. A good start!!! Is everybody shining their sinks everytime they wash up, If so I am going to end up with a pile of wet tea towels.

Happy flying everybody lets all keep up the good work x

Carrotsandcelery · 02/01/2011 11:34

Good question about the shining every time Dosey. I just did the breakfast dishes and have left them to drain but wondered if that was "cheating".

MyDingaling · 02/01/2011 11:39

Morning all.
Happy new year!
I am starting today after a lazy hungover day yesterday.
I have made a good start. Cleaned and sorted out 2 kitchen units, going to try to do another one today.
I haven't shined my sink because it is full of dishes so this will be my next job.

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2011 11:42

Dosey I 'shine' my sink with the window cleaner before I go to bed, but dry it off after every use.
I have one tea towel hanging up for cups and plates etc and one draped on the window ledge for drying the sink.

Sounds like everyone has done loads this morning!
I'm not being so energetic. We have just been to Tesco and now we are having lunch. The dc's are watching Toy Story, so I will start the ironing in a bit

APixieInMyMulledWine · 02/01/2011 12:14

Right done hair and put a bit of mascara on. Not gonna do the whole make-up thing as I'm not going anywhere today. I managed to do it by strapping the baby to my back in the sling and the way he's being today he's most likely going to be there a while so I'm also gonna lose weight in the process. Grin

Sinks- well I wipe over it and dry it every time I use it but I'm only going to properly shining it last thing at night I think.

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 02/01/2011 13:12

Right, so I shined the sink seen as though I didn't start yesterday. Then went upstairs, showered, dressed, make up, then made our bed and DSs. Went back into the bathroom and wiped that down while it was still wet from the steam.
Finally bagged up the pile of old clothes that has been on my bedroom floor for I don't know how long!
Put away the mountain of clothes that I'd managed to get upstairs but not actually put away for the last week.... Hmm

Just going to sit down and have a brew and some lunch with DS now and wait for my friends to arrive!

Should really run a cloth over this windowsill too while I'm on a roll...

Sounds like everyone's having a good, productive day!

Unwind · 02/01/2011 13:41

I shined my sink last night, and this morning dressed to shoes, did hair and applied moisturiser, as per the bare minimum. Then I noticed myself in the mirror, and how tired I look, and went back and applied a small bit of make up. Even though I don't intend to see anyone today, feeling a bit more presentable does help morale!

I have been pondering the mess that is my finances and decided to do the flylady version of that too. The first two "missions" are spending 15 min gathering together bills statements etc, and then 15 minutes clearing a desk (finance version of shiny sink).

Amber789 · 02/01/2011 14:08

Hi everyone Smile

I've been lurking for a while, but now have decided to join in, if I may.
My sink is nice and shiny and the family are putting dirty dishes straight into the dishwasher instead of leaving them in the sink!

I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the house just as sorted.

Happy new year to you all.

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 02/01/2011 14:11

I have to admit, the bit I'm dreading is sorting the paperwork pile, or piles, if I'm honest... definitely my 'hot spots'.

I usually put makeup on, even if I'm not going anywhere, makes me feel better.
Not always a full face, but at least a bit of foundation and a couple of swipes of mascara!

itshappenedagain · 02/01/2011 15:01

hello ladies..can i join too. am on another thread trying to start routines. even bought the sink reflections book which i read of an evening.
did shining of sink last night and i am up and dressed to house shoes everyday anyway.
have to admit though feels better to know im not the only one who felt overwhelmed!

verylazy i puit lots of paperwork under my stairs before christmas my task for wednesday is to buy a shredder and file to sort and keep it all in, although i have one file from last year, its very full and battered.

MickyLee · 02/01/2011 15:44

I managed to take all the xmas decs down today and box them, with a big printed label detailing the contents (very flylady) Just got to take the tree itself down now.
Kept my sink all shiney
But didn't dress first thing, I am doing workout dvds mid-mornings, so left that until just before lunch once I had had a shower etc.

Tomorrow is Home Blessing Hour. We spend an hour every Monday making our homes look nicer (as much as we would for a guest coming round, not detailed cleaning)
Shall be having a tidy, dusting and cleaning the floors then.

Hope everyone is getting on ok :)
