I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Aha! Found it! Yup, I won't be doing that. Grin

bessie26 · 28/02/2011 15:28

I guess where ever Mrs Fly Lady lives it's warmer than it is here today! I will only ever consider shampooing a carpet in the height of summer!

I've done my home blessing which included vacuuming the ceiling & skirting boards in the living room for stage one of my detailed cleaning. I vacuumed under all the sofa cushions last week, & won't be moving any heavy furniture, so it looks like I'll be cleaning cat snot off the windows & sorting out the bookcase next...

Sewing costumes for school things sounds like a nightmare - I would struggle to even think of anything let alone make it!

carrots I'm also ridiculously pleased at myself for managing to get the house under control so I don't have to panic when someone's coming round!

Carrotsandcelery · 28/02/2011 16:05

Yay for Maltesers! Grin

SharonGless · 28/02/2011 20:41

I am loving the Maltesers ladies however am not deserving of any today as not done any flying other than usual routine and a load of washing.

Have had the dreaded book day letters today from both school and nursery. How the hell am I supposed to throw something together without buying something! DS is going to be Captain Hook (we have pirate costumes) and am going to persuade DD that she loves Snow White as she got a dress for Xmas that she has never worn! Obviously not their favourite characters but the only costumes we have in the house.

We do have a Vax that we periodically use on the cream Hmm carpets that we inherited

Dosey · 28/02/2011 21:56

Hi ya its been my usual Monday just about getting through the routines. It's nursery rhyme day tomorrow so have managed to through together a twinkle little star outfit. No sewing involved just lots of stickers which I hope stay on all day! Where is it mentioning about shampooing. I will be giving this a miss x

Carrotsandcelery · 28/02/2011 22:29

I actually like making the costumes [nutjob emoticon] but I prefer a little more warning if they want the dcs to get creative.

My ds also seems to have to do a mini talk on his chosen book - obviously we will get that the weekend we have had to be away and then had visitors.

I spend half my life bored out of my tiny little mind and the other half running around like a whirlwind. Grin
Sharon I think routines and washing definitely qualify you for Maltesers Wink
My friend (who is a self confessed OCD) actually commented on the immaculate status of the house when she visited today - how chuffed am I?
I still have to shine my sink and look out ds's underwear for tomorrow but life has, in general, improved!

Carrotsandcelery · 01/03/2011 20:28

Evening everyone! I hope you have all had good days. I have done only the very basics today as I have been in costume sewing mode for my available time today.

What has everyone else done today?

bessie26 · 01/03/2011 21:37

Hi, I've been at work so have done next-to-nothing cleaning wise. I haven't even sewn up the hems on DD's PJs yet!

sorry it's a little off-topic, but carrots you asked a while back about not showing your real name when following on the blogs? Well i just followed another blog & it asked me to log in (I used my google mail account), and then to give my name - which I said was "bessie26" - didn't you get that option?

Carrotsandcelery · 01/03/2011 22:28

I shall have a go bessie. I am so tired I want to cry though so I may not be up to it. I will report back shortly. [yawning bleary eyed emoticon]

bessie26 · 01/03/2011 23:09

Go to bed NOW carrots!!

Carrotsandcelery · 02/03/2011 12:26

I went to bed bessie Grin but was up at 5am again Sad and still feel rank Sad Sad
I have just done the shopping and realised I forgot to clean the fridge out first so it is all sitting in bags in the kitchen until I summon the motivation to wipe it down.
On a plus note I did replenish the Malteser stock that dh had eradicated last night. Grin
bessie any alternatives for the chives in your pasta primavera recipe? Would it not work without it? I couldn't get any in our local supermarket today.
I need to get back to it today as I did very little yesterday.
Today's mission is here Yesterday's mission is there too if, like me, you didn't get to it yesterday.

Wednesday's daily focus

Have a great day everyone - I will be awarding Maltesers for the best motivation at the end of the day Grin

bessie26 · 02/03/2011 17:38

No idea about a chive replacement, I'm sure it would work fine without them. I've only made it once & I used dried chives as I had some in the cupboard.

I don't think I'm going to be awarded any maltesers today, I've been at work all day, have just collected DD from nursery & am out at an aqua-natal class this evening. DH is at the supermarket now so you have reminded me I need to wipe out the fridge.

I thought of something else it would be good to add to our routines, checking tyre pressures! I know it's not really cleaning but I thought I might add it to my zone 1 list so I get reminded to check them every month (guess who had a puncture yesterday & was very embarrassed by how low all the other tyres were?!Blush)

Carrotsandcelery · 02/03/2011 19:14

Oh no bessie where were you when you got the puncture? Did you manage to change it yourself? I live in dread of having to do it on my own. A knight in shining armour has always appeared to save me so far - or failing that my dad!!
Tyre pressure in zone 1 is a great idea - infact we should add checking the oil to that as well.
I don't think I have earned any Maltesers myself today. I have done the supermarket, cleaned the fridge, cleaned the kitchen worktops and emptied the dishwasher - that is all. I haven't even done my wash yet today. I need to get cracking!

Dosey · 02/03/2011 20:29

Bessie hope you are feeling better after the puncture. I think that in itself deserves maltesers. I would have the whole box if I were you!!! So far this week I have only managed my daily routines but I will make a start on my cleaning list tomorrow. I really need to think about doing something in the garden. My lawn is like a massive mud slide. I am no Charlie Dimmock (even without a bra) when it comes to the garden

bessie26 · 02/03/2011 21:16

Puncture was fine - I'd been to see the midwife & noticed the tyre looked flat when I walked back to the car - went to the petrol station to pump it up & noticed the HUGE screw in it so just popped round the corner to the tyre place. All very easy, just a bit of a PITA.

I've changed tyres before, but I think I would have just called the AA out to do it if needed as I'm not sure a lady in my condition should be wrestling with tyres!

Don't know where you are dosey but I never start doing anything in the garden until Easter at the earliest!

carrots how come you're so tired? Hope you get an early night tonight.

I've done a load of washing tonight, off now to make my porridge & shine the sink before a soak in the bath Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 02/03/2011 21:29

bessie - I forgot about the bump! Blush I seriously doubt changing tyres would have been a good idea - and so far you are definitely winning today's Malteser offering!

Dosey I am trying to pretend the garden (and garage - yikes!) are not there!

Carrotsandcelery · 03/03/2011 18:07

bessie we just tried your pasta primavera and it was very tasty. I have commented on your blog and stolen and adapted it for my blog. I hope that is ok!

Evening all! I hope everyone has had a good day. I have done basic routines today and a declutter of the kitchen after World Book Day costume making mayhem.

Today's mission

Today's daily focus

Carrotsandcelery · 03/03/2011 18:11

I did do some errands today as I had to hunt down chives and get animal food for the furry ones.

Our entrance is also being kept fairly tidy by everyone - once a place is tidy everyone seems to be more inclined to keep on top of it. It could do with a whizz round though and it does currently contain 3 scooters which may well be there until next winter as the dcs are using them every day while it is nice.

I feel I am slacking this week though after a great start on Monday. I think I overdid it and put myself off. Wink I am out tomorrow morning too so progress will be limited. I might have a babysitter tomorrow night though so that will motivate me to do the basic routines.

Dosey · 03/03/2011 21:07

Managed to get my hour blessing done today but I must say keeping on top of my daily routines means that I can skip through the some of the daily missions. I am going to work through the cleaning list in the morning when dds are at school and playgroup. I have started running on a night and am too knackered like to relax afterwards so dont get much done.

bessie26 · 03/03/2011 21:28

Envy at dosey going running

It's definitely true that once somewhere is clean it seems to keep clean. DH & I are much better at keeping the kitchen worktops clear these days - the power of the shiny sink spreads around the room! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 03/03/2011 21:35

dosey's message is blank on my page Hmm Mumsnet is saving me from this running malarky by censoring the post!

Longtalljosie · 04/03/2011 11:58

Hi there everyone.

Friday's mission - in my case that would be everything, then...

No focus to link to yet - what else are we meant to do on Fridays?

bessie26 · 04/03/2011 12:14

Clear the rubbish out of the car/handbag?

Longtalljosie · 04/03/2011 13:07

Oh yeah...

Well, my mission was the kitchen venetian blind and the dirt lurking on the windowframe behind it. The dishcloth is now in the dishwasher - yeurch!

Am actually quite motivated to do more but my back twinged and it's in charge at the moment so am back on the sofa feeling a little frustrated - but I know it's for the best!

Also frustrating - it's a brilliant drying day outside but the washing line is in the shed and lifting it out would be a stupid thing to do. Will get DH to do it at the weekend...

bessie26 · 04/03/2011 19:14

Ugh, I have to clean the kitchen blind too long but I need DH to take it off the wall for me as it would mean balancing precariously over the sink!
I emptied the dishwasher, did a load of laundry, made & cleared up lunch, vacuumed downstairs, napped, made tea, abandoned mess in kitchen & am currently watching DD play in the bath. DH is out tonight so I'm going to have to wash & tidy up by myself Sad Am hoping for an early night tonight as am still knackered despite my nap but need to order some stuff online & will no doubt end up spending too much time on MN!
Hope your day & evening are more exciting than mine!!
