I did it yonks ago (origional threads Wink) , have drunk alot of tea slipped since then and really want to start it again as it really seemed to work for me :) I am going to blitz as much as I can before the 1st (tree/decs away tonight etc.) so I am starting as much as I can with a clean sheet :) Anyone a lapsed flyer (or whatever we call ourselves) or wants to be a domestic goddess (Hmm) as of the 1st? Morning everyone! What have all of you got planned today?
I stupidly hoovered downstairs this morning before taking the dcs to school, then walked the dog in the muddy woods. Despite a thorough rub down with a towel he is still filthy. Luckily he is also tired so hopefully will go and groom himself and then have a sleep.
I have been awake all night. I just couldn't sleep at all. I will have to keep busy today or I will fade fast.
Luckily it is HOME BLESSING today for those who are free to do it.
Today's mission is here Kelly's mission

this week we are on zone 4

I like this one. Things are still in relative order so hopefully I can complete this one and can continue decluttering too.

I have already hoovered and stripped the bed so that is a decent start. Grin

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2011 12:46

Home Blessing is done and this week's detailed cleaning is done although I think I do the home blessing wrong as I seem to do a detailed clean of both bathrooms along with it. I don't suppose there is any harm in that if I have time though is there.
Doing the bedroom was easy as it was still "straight" from the last rotation. All I had to do was tidy the bedside tables and move the little pile of ds outgrown clothes to a bag for the car to pass to a friend on Wednesday.
Now I need to give myself a boot to get myself moving and make use of the head start and try to finish the detailed cleaning of the kitchen which I am still trying to do Blush deep cleaning every cupboard and drawer.
If anyone has an extra boot available please send it my way. Grin

bessie26 · 21/02/2011 13:18

for carrots!

DD & I have been out this morning to get her some new shoes. Just cleared up from lunch & am putting my feet up for 5 mins before I start the home blessing.
I also made a start on the deep clean of the bedroom yesterday. I had to vacuum upstairs anyway, so I made sure I did the cobwebs & skirting boards while I was at it. And I changed the bedsheets.
I've got to finish the meal planner & grocery list this afternoon too, but that will have to wait until after I've cleaned the floors & made myself a cup-of-tea. Am choosing to ignore the huge pile of laundry that needs sorting in the hope that DH might do it later!

bessie26 · 21/02/2011 18:03

carrots I don't think there's any problem adding the bathrooms to your home blessing, it's YOUR routine after all!

I got most of my home blessing done & finished the grocery list ready for when DH gets home. Just need to empty all the bins tonight, and declutter the tops of the dresser etc in the bedroom so I can clean them!

Carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2011 19:09

Well done bessie - the cleaning list if much less intimidating this week.

I took the much needed boot (thank you) and cleaned out 3 more drawers and 2 more cupboards in the kitchen, so it has been a busy but productive day.

I have done a menu plan for the next 3 weeks as well. I am going to try your pasta primavera bessie.

I have tried to follow your blog but it put my own name rather than my blogger name on it so I had to remove my name again. Do you know how to make it my blogger name like you have? Is your email address your blogger name too?

What has everyone else been doing?

dylsmum1998 · 21/02/2011 19:50

evening all. Have just had a busy day in uni. I'm actualy getting quite good at mental maths. I even told the rest of class how to do a question earlier first time I have been able to do that.

have only been in half hour, just sat having salad for tea.before I consider doing the hoovering.

Just organised childcare so that I can join the girls on a weekend to Brighton in March. SOOOOO excited Smile

Carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2011 20:05

Well done on the Mental Maths dylsmum - I have always said that the best teachers are the ones who have had to work at something a bit themselves: they can see the babysteps to understanding it, rather than it just being obvious. Grin

A child free weekend with the girls in Brighton in March sounds fab.

Sounds like a good day! Grin

bessie26 · 21/02/2011 22:40

A weekend away dyls? that sounds fabulous!! and well done at the maths! I used to be good at maths (not the mental stuff tho, I always had to write it down) but I think that knowledge has been replaced by nursery rhymes & AK recipes!

carrots no idea about how I got it to use my blogger name rather than my real name I'm afraid, it just magically worked!

Surely you can't have many more kitchen cupboards/drawers left to declutter now? You'll have to get back in the study again soon!! Grin

dylsmum1998 · 21/02/2011 23:07

Blush sorry my last post looks rather self obsessed Blush I was very excited about my weekend away, I have never had a weekend away before.

You have all been very busy. I need to try some of you recipes carrots and bessie, they look fab.

bessie26 · 22/02/2011 09:13

hehehe, nothing wrong with being proud of your achievements dyls!! Grin

I'm making the thai tofu curry right now as we have SIL coming round for dinner tonight. I always get a bit nervous making tofu dishes for carnivores as most of them have already decided they don't like tofu without ever trying it, but DH told me to make it, so I'll tell her to blame her brother if she doesn't like it!

I have a day off work today, but it's already filled with chores & appointments, so doubt I will get much further ahead with my missions Sad

Longtalljosie · 22/02/2011 11:29

Hello again, can I rejoin you? I did my first (very slow) house blessing yesterday. The backache I mentioned a few pages ago turned out to be a ruptured disc Shock

I'm in lots of pain but am drugged up to the eyeballs and am being encouraged to get moving again, so I'm attempting to flutter if not full-blown flying... it's been really depressing watching all my good work vanish in the last month but hopefully I can get back there again.

It's a bit annoying we're on zone 4 as there are other areas that need it far more but perhaps that's useful when I'm going at a slow pace...

Longtalljosie · 22/02/2011 11:30

Not my first house blessing obviously, my first in three weeks or so I meant Blush

bessie26 · 22/02/2011 12:21

Hi long welcome back! A ruptured disc sounds awful, but I have no real idea what it means. Will it fix itself (given enough time & physio) or do you have to have something done to it? What kind of movements are you allowed to do? I'm assuming you won't be clearing out under the bed & turning the mattress?!

I've just got back from our local 2nd hand baby shop - I now own a baby sling, so will have no excuses for not doing the vacuuming occasionally! Speaking of which, has anyone heard from noeye lately?

Curlybrunette · 22/02/2011 13:05

Hi everyone,

I had the most insanely busy last week (12 meals out and a weekend away all within 7 days - don't ask!) so wasn't around much so needless to say I did the absolute bare minimum flying last week. My house looks awful, not so much unclean but just really cluttered with toys all over the place and paperwork stuff that needs sorting etc, just like my house did before I started flying. It's amazing how it's affected me having such a messy house again, really have suffered from CHAOS!

I've done about 3 hours tidying and sorting this morning, is half term for us this week and the boys were great and playing together while I was busy, and when I get off MN I'll do a bit more. That's without mention my OU assignment that I'm only a third of the way through that has to be done by tomorrow Confused

Busy times!!!

Hope you are all ok, sorry haven't had chance to read back much to see how you all are/have been up to

x

Longtalljosie · 22/02/2011 13:13

Thanks bessie, it should fix itself within 4-6 weeks but we've already had 4 and no sign of improvement. Basically the discs in your back are hard on the outside but full of gel, if there is a crack in the disc the gel leaks out and can irritate the nerves in the spine. This can either cause backache or pain where the nerve in question is going, in this case down my leg...

It's not pleasant. I'm being referred to a consultant but hopefully I can avoid surgery, don't fancy that at all. Part of the reason I didn't have an epidural when having DD is the thought of a needle in my spine scares the hell out of me, let alone having an operation on it!

Carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2011 13:30

long - good to see you have returned to us. Your back problem sounds hideous. Take it slow and steady. I hope it eases off soon Sad

bessie how did the tofu go down with the SIL. I have never used it but have to say, since reading your blog, I have been considering it. I had a bad experience with it in Singapore and have been scared to touch it ever since...I was last in Singapore in 1996 so it has left a lasting impression! Shock

I have just counted and I have 25 cupboards and drawers in my kitchen bessie, 3 of them full height, so it is a massive job, especially since it hasn't had a full declutter since everything was hurriedly shoved into in a panic 4 years ago. I am nearly there though. I have 2 deep drawers and one normal sized cupboard to go and I will be finished it (apart from what is on top of the units!!)

Curly sounds like you have been living the high life Grin Sorry you are coming back to earth with a bit of bump! Sad You will get there again in no time though. I would concentrate on the OU work today and then do the cleaning. Mind you it always amazed me as a student how clean our flat was when I had an essay due! Wink

Carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2011 14:06

Kelly's Mission for Tuesday

Dosey · 22/02/2011 18:16

hi everybody, well this morning I did my routines and cleaned under the bed, that felt like a load lifted because everytime I walked upstairs I would see the mess under there. Now its all gone. I love todays mission because I dont have a pile of clothes to sort out. I am off work this week and its so much easier fitting a mission or doing jobs in the cleaning zone. We have been to the seaside today, we took the dog for a run on the beach and we had fish and chips and ice cream. I was freezing but we had a lovely day. It certainly blew the cobwebs away!!!!

Hope we are all well.

Longtalljosie · 22/02/2011 18:20

Yeah, I did this. The problem is the pile of clothes in question is DH's. And I couldn't initially put them in the drawer because it was full of shit random stuff like scart leads, old copies of Men's Health and European plug adaptors. Have put all this aforementioned clutter in a box for him to inspect this evening. I will doubtless be told it's all vital, even the notepad with the logo for his last company but two.

He's such a hoarder!

dylsmum1998 · 22/02/2011 22:55

Long that sounds very painful! hope it sorts itself out

Carrots- you kitchen sounds huge, well done on getting therough all the cupboards

Curly hope you got the essay done.

I really need to do todays mission, but I went to my aunts for dinner tonight and only got back half hour ago, so i will do it in the morning instead, as I only have to go in for the afternoon tomorrow.

I'm just waiting for secret diary of a call girl to come on the + channel then I am off to bed.

dylsmum1998 · 23/02/2011 08:13

morning all.
this mornng I am going to tackle the ironing. I havenn't done any for over a week so its a little bit desperate. Managed to sort a few bits this mornng. The one benefit of the childen staying at their dds for the past few days is, there isn't any housework as such to do.

Although it needs doing, not sure if I will manage to do Kellys mission this morning. Here it is for those who want it misssion

Longtalljosie · 23/02/2011 08:34

Hmm - I think that mission could go one of two ways. It's equally possible that next time you're looking for shoes to match your outfit, you'll realise you've just thrown them away!

Curlybrunette · 23/02/2011 08:34

Morning!
Thanks dylsmum I did get the essay finished at 1am this morning. I am feeling pretty tired but have no sympathy for myself, I knew the assignment was coming up and didn't do the work!

I did get lots done yesterday and my house is much more uncluttered then it was. Like you dylsmum my ironing pile is a bit scary so I may do that tonight.

BTW carrots 25 cupboards. Oh my word!

Have a good day everyone.

Carrotsandcelery · 23/02/2011 09:34

Morning all!

Glad the essay is out of the way Curly.

Long I have the same problem with dh's pile of clothes. In our case it all hangs on a hook on the back of our bedroom door. It has got to the stage I can't properly open the door because his pile is so layered. Not sure what the solution is though. Confused

I did the ironing yesterday but also did a huge pile of washing yesterday so there is more on the pulley to iron today. Let us know if anyone finds anything worth watching on tv while we all stand and iron. Wink

I am not throwing any shoes away! I hardly have any in the first place! Dh has more than me and he hardly has any either! Sorry Kelly, no can do!

I am feeling sorry for myself as my first job today is to go to the nurse for a smear - yuk! Sad I will visibly cheer up by the time that is over and may have to compensate myself with a wee bag of Maltesers on the way home Grin

Enjoy the ironing everyone!

dylsmum1998 · 23/02/2011 10:59

Longtall that is my take on the mission too, I might tidy them up later but doubt I'll throw them away.

Curly glad the essay is out of the way

I have finished my ironing- 2 hours it has taken Shock still done now

I am so cross, I ordered some maerial to make ds's curtains 4m it said in the description comes in one continuous length. It has turned up 3.5 m and a 0.5m peice Angry. Have emailed the seller, bet they take days to answer. Not happy at all.

I now have to go to uni with the hump! Going to hoover first then I'm off.

have good days all
