dyls childcare is such a pian isnt it...hope you find a good solution

MC Not sure about sleeping in cars, but I do know that several of the staff where I work ( in Beighton) couldn't get home last night and had to sleep in spare beds on the empty ward! Glad I never made it in now!

funtime Hi

wendy oh I do feel for you...hang in there !

well, DH has valliantly made it to local supermarket and make with essential supplies (torches, matches, milk, bread, wine etc LOL)
and older dc are out building igloo, whilst littlies are on second re-run of polar express!
I'm not convinced anyone will be going anywhere tomorrow either Hmm
and the concert dd1 and 2 were meant to be i at the arena on Friday has been cancelled...seems the whole world is grinding to a halt!

may need some creative ideas for days entetainment of 6 dc tomorrow...
and of course the house - which I had returned to almost neatness and order at the weekend is now totally trashed again...sigh..
oh, and I have been eating rubbish and doing NO excerise so reckon I may have put on several pounds...sigh...

Right...off to face more chaos...

Home early to pick-up DS, can't have Mum slipping on ice. Wish we had some fun snow not just this cold boring ice and pretend snow!
OFM It sound like you need that nanny now.
A friend has a nanny for her three boys, she even sent her to the Maths workshop. Oh! for someone else to do H/W with DS and leave me with the fun bits! Decided to calm down with the worry over Ds's school work!
How about making a shanty town in a room with a table. various parts of the room can be various tents. I did this when my Mum left me with my brothers & sister (and mates I think) when she got home from work she went nuts as I used clean, ironed linen for the tents and every pot & cutlery in the kitchen. But we were totally occupied all day!
dyls Childminders were never an option for me as they were never flexible or go beyond 6pm. Nanny share maybe? Or share child care with a friend?
dyls & MC I know I should be studying for something but keep putting it off!
swan Love joining-in with fete and Fair stuff. Got a big thank you for my Chilli & stallholding on Saturday but it takes up sooo much time!
Ops! must dash

Makingchanges · 01/12/2010 15:31

OFM thats where I am and I'm not surprised they got stuck - no one was able to go anywhere.

I went to garage today across the drive and the snow was way over me wellies.

Struggled to keep DD occupied - she is grouchy fromlack of sleep due to cold and mardy cos I won't let her play outside- and now its really snowing hard again.

On the upside have eaten chocolate birthday cake so not all bad but very little work done.

Going to have a good couple of hours before tea and then have a tidy when DD goes to bed - although I'm sure it'll be as bad tomorrow as not sure we could get anywhere again tomorrow.

swanriver · 01/12/2010 16:43

Nutty what food was served at your school fete in addition to your chilli? PTA splinter group want to offer hot food in playground of the stewy soupy kind, any ideas? Someone is bringing in pasta bakes, but anything else?

swanriver · 01/12/2010 16:47

Am now perversely wishing children were here snowed in all day and all activities were cancelled! Just went to piano with ds [no fingers by the time we got there, only icicles Shock and later have to go to Beavers, soo not looking forward to it.

House complete chaos, children for moment watching telly, but will have to supervise homework in a moment Sad surrounded by bags and boxes. Did go on some errands though! And gas meter changed. Have to assemble supper too..

Nuttybear · 01/12/2010 17:46

Swan Sorry no this was the church Christmas Fair. I go along as an associate member! Much bigger team of helpers (More men and women with grown up children, no children to help) We all had to make Jamie's Chilli con carne. No other choice. Which didn't go down well with my guest child! A lot of room for complaining but because everyone was very Cof E no one moaned that they got smaller helpings than the first lot and no rice. I wouldn't get involved if I were you.
Right boys at Gymnastics. House a tip!
Will do the following before they get back and forgo my swim!
clothes in dryer
W/M reload
Blitz house
clean cooker hob
make beds
wash kitchen floor
sew beaver badges and more tags on various bit of hat gloves and scarves!
See ya tommorow! Day away from paid job not away from WORK! Smile

OverflowingMum · 01/12/2010 18:55

Oh lord above, cabin fever may have peaked!
All children shriekin hysterically and chasing DH around the house in pusuit of an aero bar...and I do belive snowballs have been brough inside Shock
Now seems though that the inevitable tears have followed , and DH now attempting to calm them all down for bed Hmm
so obvioulsy am hiding in the bedros, trying to ignore until wailing becomes too loud Hmm
Ok, now seems there has been an injury too and dh is advising ice from the freezer for dd1 fingers...should I go and investigate...well no crying yet...

Luckily I have opened the bottle of emergency wine that DH brought home from the supermarket!!

Oh and have just been emailed by boss to say that permenant jobs are being advertised this week Grin so now have to decide whether to go for 3 day job or 4 day job...complicated...will consider when things calmer...

OverflowingMum · 01/12/2010 18:56

bedros???? BEDROOM!

funtimewincies · 01/12/2010 19:18

I'll swap you some haribos for a glass of emergency wine OFM. Dh is dealing with an overtired ds1 after I had to leave the room for all our safety! And relax...

Glad they found the leak swan.

On the plus side, I've completed today's list for the first time in yonks Grin.

The final stats were...
Make beds and general tidy done
Unloaded and loaded dishwasher done
Unloaded and loaded the dishwasher for a 2nd time done
Load of washing done and on radiators done
Washed towels and put into drier done
Make leek and potato soup for lunch done
Clean downstairs loo done
Hoover downstairs done
Make bird feeders with ds1 done
Make tea done

Dh says he'll clear up after tea (hurrah!) after putting the boys to bed. Lovely hubby (although I suspect that he might be after my haribos Wink).

scattyspice · 01/12/2010 19:30

Hi all.

Am on day 7 of snow chaos up here. Our school are fantastic for staying open (most other local schools are shut) and letting them play outside (field covered in snowmen Grin).
Chaos at work. Yesterday they lost a patient! The ambulance taking him home (after being in hosp with a stroke) got stuck in the snow, the patient convinced them to let him out saying he lived round the corner. When he'd trudged off into the snow the amb men realised he lived miles away. Luckily the police found him wandering around in a blizzard totally lost Shock.

swan happily snow means no beavers/rainbows/cheercats Smile.
nutty LOL at alien costume!
wendy I feel for you now.
dyl MC I have nothing but admiration for mums who study!
Hi everyone else Smile.

wendyhappysmile · 01/12/2010 19:35

Hi all
No news!
DH sent home from work early which was a bonus and aided the tedium.
Off for a bath.
You are wonderful for all your support [hugs] don't care if it's in the spirit of MN or not!

poncey I always worry about going in the loft when I am the only adult here...then again I possibly am neurotic!

scatty Shock at lost paient...glad they found him safe and sound. And well done to DC school...I literally couldn't get dc to school even if it was open!

OK...some peace has descended...littlies in bed...am going too soon.
Have now eaten white toast and mince pie Shock what is wrong with me???think that snow, cabin fever and hormones combined are not suiting me well!

school closed here, DH just going to work, don't know he'll be sent home today.

Phantom contractions all night again. As soon as I laid down, they came back, when I got up and walked around, they disappeared - but they were too painful to sleep! GRR

Supposed to be at midwife at 1, we'll see, sure it's going to be imminent!

dylsmum1998 · 02/12/2010 11:28

oh well I tried we went to the local shops for bread and milk and they have none and not sure when tehy can get any as the weathers is so bad. So will need to be creative with breakfasts for next few days I think.

Wendy sending for you

House is fairly clean and tidy so not much to do. So sitting on internet wasting time Xmas Hmm sure i should be doing something else though.
