Hi all
Only been awol since Wednesday OFM - DD off school with a virus so no computer time!

No baby yet

OP posts:
Nuttybear · 26/11/2010 14:51

Wendy Yes but.... Hope DD is okay and you don't catch it. On the other hand you might think it's a poo and the baby pops out! was that disgusting sorry Blush
Right Chill on the Hob and bubbling nicely. I've had to use a Jamie receipe but I prefer Paul Merrett's version in Economy Gastronomy. I want the programme back because they were good cooks but daft as a brush about money Ha! ha! Right off to make beds & get Ds's swimming stuff.

OverflowingMum · 26/11/2010 17:18

awww wendy only since Weds...I've lost track of days, but we were clearly all thinking of you.
Hope dd is recovered. How are you ? Are you fed up or doing OK? Still thinking of you

well, school rang me for the SECOND day in a row at 2.35 to collect dd3 as she said she didn't feel well Hmm
so by the time I get there it was 3.00 and they finish at 3.15 any way Hmm and of course dd3 was seemingly totally fine...Hmm
DD4 then cried all the way home because she had had to come out of class early (they had taken them all out of class so I could take them home)
Not too impressed....surely she could have waited 30 mins, especially as she wasn't really actually ill Hmm

anyway, have hoovered stairs and landing...new hoover seems good Grin

easy freezer tea tonight...dc now watching new dvd
Am going to blitz the littlies and then the girls rooms tomorrow...

not much else planned...

DS1 off bag packing with the scouts at morrisons ...lucky boy! but will raise money for his camps (phew!)

right...off to deal with slightly crazy dc...Hmm

swanriver · 26/11/2010 17:26

Sooo freezing here, down South.
Managed to get dd to her Friday singing lesson through serious planning. Filled car with calorific snacks, drinks, turned heating on. Went straight from school in car instead of walking which is our usual method, and managed to drag those reluctant brothers along without too much mutiny. Ds2 had two screaming fits, and ds1 nearly got run over at one stage, but I did it, and feel like a grownup (!) to have got home in one piece and have deposited children safely in front of telly Grin

Now just need to fix the car radio and get myself a watch Angry had to steal kitchen clock in desperation.

Hi Wendy hope all is cosy and not too dull! And dd is over her virus nearly. Well done her for having it now not in two days.

swanriver · 26/11/2010 17:32

I wish the Scouts would come to Morrisons and pack my bags, although I don't think ds1 would be much help Hmm We had the Cadets once.

OFM do you think they were being ultra scrupulous because of the bumped head incident?? But, it's nice that dd4 is so enjoying school though - Friday afternoon at our school used to be Golden Time when they just did lovely things.

now need to go and be organised again!

SatinShoes · 26/11/2010 17:35

Aw Wendy. It wont be long now.

I am the house of nits at the moment (first time ever). Found them on DD2 this morning so have conditioned and combed (found 4). Feeling guilty as DD1 is on a sleepover tonight although I didnt see anything this morning when I did her hair for school.

Checked my own hair with comb and found nothing. DH cant see anything either. Plan to treat both DDs with Full Marks tomorrow I think to zap them.

Have managed to tidy & hoover downstairs while DH looked after DD2. Lovely.

Well done on after school organisation.

satin nits...yuk. Have thankfully not struck here for a while....famous last words...Hmm

have ordered a sledge, and restocked everyone's wellies in readiness LOL Now just need some snow Hmm

am going to make quick last minute christmas cake at wk/end...and mince pies I think...and maybe christmas biccies...

then must go to the gym...or run...or do something other than sit here eating rubbishHmm

funtimewincies · 26/11/2010 19:23

Weyhey, snow this afternoon and ds1 (and his friend who was round to play) very excited Grin.

Not much done today apart from general tidying, a supermarket shop and some tomato soup made. I knew that time spent roasting and freezing the summer tomato glut was well spent, despite dh doing Hmm at lot!

Labour grenades to Wendy.

Makingchanges · 27/11/2010 09:59

Morning all

Wendy I thought i would come back here to baby news. Hope virus has cleared up.

OFM my DD was everso excited at snow this morning - but thought it meant that Santa was coming tonight Grin - I'm not too happy as its DD birthday party this afternoon and worried people won't come through the snow.

Having a lesson planning day today and then dd's party this afternoon - having it at local playcentre as have beentoo busy with school to be able to sort it so cheating instead Blush

Hope everyone well

swanriver · 27/11/2010 10:34

Dropoff and pickup heaven today!
Dcs' music concert slightly clashing with dd softplay outing/overlapping with football/followed by sudden request for dd to go bowling with second batch of friends, and ds still determined to get to HPotter [could possibly combine with bowling?] Poncey you are good at that sort of thing, I am not.

Radio 3 playing to pretend I am in a better world.

no snow here.
MC party will be lovely and stressfree, have fun.
OFM good to concentrate one's efforts on one room, makes one feel much less desperate..and then sometimes I manage a second...
Ds still needs pjs (he did last year too Blush others have so many handme downs that I can't justify.

swanriver · 27/11/2010 10:49

I can't believe announcer just said in eager tones re: some music "How could this music just disappear for 300 years" 17th sonatas Confused So obscure is Radio 3.
Possibly they were rushing around in 17th century too, probably wasn't as quiet as we think without telly/cars/planes.

must GO OUT, see you Sunday.

wendyhappysmile · 27/11/2010 11:09

Thanks for all your good wishes girls! Still pregnant!
Thankfully DD's virus is not of the stomach variety, Nutty but just a cough and temperature etc. She seems a bit better today. She deteriorates at about 4 pm every day and is really ill then! Think she uses up all her energy!

DH has taken FIL and DS to a train show ... I'm not even dressed. Xmas songs are on for DD ... already! Well I guess it's nearly December! Got the Xmas craft box down for this afternoon, although I may try to offload children to inlaws just for an hour and get DH to take me out! We have snow here for the first time, but not lots.

I've missed something - who is Poncey?!

Hope this baby comes today! Now officially past the due date - first time in three pregnancies!

OP posts:
OverflowingMum · 27/11/2010 13:03

Hi all Busy bees!

Have had crazy few days with snow chaos etc.

Thurs - spent 20mins stuck in a traffic jam, 10mins from home! Gave up ans had a day off Smile. Dragged the kids home from school on sledges Grin.
Fri got to work by bus/metro/bus. Went to friends Mums funeral Sad. DS announced that he had put his name down for lantern parade Hmm so spent a freezing hour hanging around/shuffling along/hanging around local high street (while Ds complained he was cold and bored Angry. Fri night DS and dh went to basket ball game (ds won tickets at school Smile).
Today we have masses of snow. I have stinking cold. Plumber has fitted dishwasher so have clean and sparkling kitchen Grin. We have trudged through the snow to school fair. DH is now making a snowman in the garden with DC.

Hope those who have snow are enjoying it Smile.

Good luck wendy!!

Nuttybear · 27/11/2010 16:32

Nuttybear · 27/11/2010 20:58

OFM Wow! When are you going to find time to make the cake!
DH out at Rugby. Family friend (8 year old) spent the day with us while his Mum was away and dad & brother went to Fulham football seems to have a virus, had a slight temp and a bit shaky. Dad came to collect him agreed with me then discussed how he had to go out in the cold in the morning to wach his brother watch football because the match was important!!!! Told him to get on the phone to other parent's to take eldest to football and not drag, sick youngest to football! MEN!
Almost offered to have him around but I have plans!
Off to do some sewing now!

morning all

poncey hope head is OK today!

wendy hope you're ok

nutty no idea when I'll get cake done , probably round about February at this rate LOL

ok...list update to keep dwindling enthusiasm going:

Done:
Up, dressed, breakfasted
sorted dds underwear drawers
sorted dds pyjama drawer
sorted dds wardrobe
hung up 4 lots of uniforms
hoovered dds room...again!
attempted to entertain ds2 whilst doing all of above!

now going to do:
blitz my room:
sort out bedside drawers
sort out underwear drawer
sort out shelves
sort out wardrobe
sort out make up and jewelery
put away clean clothes - lots
dust
hoover

bathrooms good clean

tidy and hoover lounge

organise dining room shelves

order new socks for girls

christmas cake ingredients...(may have to do on-line grocery shop, so will add to order I think!)

also have lady coming round this afternoon about possibly hiring as a nannyHmm
....we were considering it as a possible option to solve childcare/work stress...would be more expensive but may be worth it if we found right person?? (and still not as expensive as paying for after school club for 4 of them 3 times week + nursery for ds2!)
Not sure though...but will see what she is like , then look at all the figures and weigh up pros and cons....Confused

right...best crack on then....
BBL Grin

scattyspice · 28/11/2010 12:48

My new (2nd hand) dishwasher is broken Sad.

ofm nanny sounds like a good idea, hope she is ok.

Dh has taken kids to town on a mystery expedition Hmm!

To do
ironing
buy t bags
drop off Avon order

swanriver · 28/11/2010 14:39

Scatty MACHINES Angry Is the circuit board possibly? Or pump...? You will think wistfully of happy days with your hands in marigolds.
I have v cheap Hotpoint FDL570 one from Argos which has not gone wrong yet after two years (crossing my fingers on that one)..but have been through 2 Bosch in 13 years.

OFM remember with nannies - they are not you. They can never be you or be as multitasking superdooper as mothers are Hmm but often they can be cheerful, energetic, sensible and quite enjoy company of children! [disclaimer: I have had a nanny, but was in house with her, which was probably a mistake Hmm She was lovely to the children. But didn't like me much Blush

Yesterday was quite productive I suppose, except from the point of view of cleaning Hmm
Saw HP with ds1, really enjoyed it, but WHERE WAS THE ROMANCE [grr] Loved the Ministry of Magic bits and all those mauve decors. loved Hermoine's red dress. Much too dark/menacing for anyone under 10 really. Felt inconclusive though. Ds liked it, but I think sort of puzzled by it. Said he wanted to see it again, but then said he only gave it 2 out of 5!

Bought loads of fabric for Hexham godchild and some for me whilst buying ds a concert outfit.

Concert fab - Leonard Cohen music (choir) and Pirates of Caribbean (orchestra) as well as obscure classical..

Today felt like hiding from family and house,
but followed dh to park, which was extremely beautiful, leaves fluttering down in crisp sunlight.
Can possibly face a bit of organising now, except ds has developed stomach ache (possibly from eating too much in park cafe)

wendyhappysmile · 28/11/2010 16:29

Sorry Poncey can't believe I didn't recognise you!!! I'm rubbish when people name change - which is why I don't bother with it myself! I'd forget my new name!

swan concert sounds great
ofm nanny sounds like a good solution! hope meeting went well

Everyone else - hello

I have been out of the house! We offloaded DS to MIL for swimming and took DD to shopping centre - only there about an hour and a half, and DD was pleased to spend her birthday money - books and a Tinkerbell doll.

I managed to buy a few more Xmas presents I'd been stressing about, the rest can be done online thankfully!

No twinges at all!
BBL

OP posts:
OverflowingMum · 28/11/2010 17:17

evening all

wendy glad at least you got out...no twinges maybe the calm before the storm?!?

swan concert , harry potter an dpark sound good. Hope dd ok

meeting with potential nanny went well. I like her beter than expected Hmm the main advantages would be:
Ds could be cared for at home, which hopefully he would prefer, as well as getting used to one person and going to playgrounds etc more like if I was at home
Nanny coulod do some very basic household tasks such as prepare dc evening meal and was dc uniform
I could switch to working 3 days and have 2 days off, dc could all come home school with nanny and that wouldnt be as bad as going to afterschool club 3X week

swan yes I agree about nannies not being as super as us mothers! we have had 2 in the past when ds1 and dd1 were little. One was fab, although we found endless fault with her Hmm and second was plain useless LOL

Also new potential nanny is willing to work term time contract, and receive childcare vouchers for payment which would make it more affordable for us...and is my age, not 18 yr old LOL and has 2 (older) dc of her own...and seemed quite sensible...

also when ds2 strarts part tiem nursery next Sept we could keep her on and she could collect ds from nursery, adn is willing to do extra housework during childfree couple of hours...

so will have to go ponder tonight...

other than that:
have done our room...
dds driving me mad by leaving clothes on floor rather than in washing basket...endlessly...

Ds1 being troublesome pre-teenager...DH now ranting at him for lack of table setting hmmmmHmm

house not perfect, but bit better...hope to finish off tonight, but have opened bottle of wine...may regret,

BBl Grin
