Hi

OP posts:
OverflowingMum · 28/11/2010 17:18

hmmm dh in especially challenging mood it seems...not sure what thats about...Hmm

OverflowingMum · 28/11/2010 17:20

oh lord....all dc now saying they hate DH dinner...(some pasta bake thing) and refusing to eat...this is not going to end well Hmm

OverflowingMum · 28/11/2010 17:21

oh also with nanny, she is willing to look after dc if off sick from school....not very often, but would help...

swanriver · 28/11/2010 17:51

LOL LOL, dh hates pasta bake here! Behaves a bit like your dcs generally!
I have cooked roast dinner, and now going to church, I should be so lucky, hope I can tear gently persuade children from hearth.

wendyhappysmile · 29/11/2010 07:03

Hiya all
ofm nanny sounds very good, glad you seem to have found a solution. LOL at pasta bake debacle
swan hope you got to church

I am fed up another full night's sleep LOL

DD still has a bad cough, keeping her off another day even though she is ok in herself. DS seems ok and DH seems to have recovered fairly well too. A friend is calling past my gate to pick up DS to take him to school so I don't have to walk on the icy paths - the advantage of living next to school!

Blimey, you've all been really busy, while I've just hunkered down in jumpers cuddling chocolate Blush.

Today...
Ds1 to school done
Dust lounge done
Wash my bedding done
Clear kitchen done
Find ds2's trust fund voucher (as he's nearly 1!) done
Update internet grocery shop done
Pick up ds1
Make lunch
Clean bathroom
Make peppermint creams
Make tea (leftovers thankfully)

I also need to consult my Xmas list. Bless her, my mum has been snowed in and has been keeping herself busy making Xmas pud, brandy butter and mincemeat for me. I love my mum!

Hang on in there Wendy Smile.

wendyhappysmile · 29/11/2010 11:33

wincies what a nice mum!

DD much better.
Have made quiche, mince pies and jam tarts with her. Lots of fun.

Apparently today is going to be the biggest day for internet Xmas shopping ... must admit, I have been thinking of what is left to get myself!

OP posts:
swanriver · 29/11/2010 13:19

lots of children in house due to no gas at school - sent home early and unexpectedly just as I was sitting down to gather my wits Grin
spent morning selling things in Santa's Gift Shop!
dh at home due to tube strike so that is my cue to depart to shops! Don't want to combine internet crash with home chaos.

Wendy that does sound a blissful morning - rolling out pastry together...

brrrr in every way here, ds2 has lost his 4th pair of gloves Angry string may be required

I have found a new Sunday night heartthrob in Garrow's Law, just been watching old episodes on iplayer too

swanriver · 29/11/2010 13:21

I suppose the great thing is that I now don't officially don't have to get back to pick kids up Wink - may yet be an extremely productive afternoon, if my toes don't drop off first.

swanriver · 29/11/2010 13:23

OFM dd is the only person who can lay table round here, she likes to light candles too!

scattyspice · 29/11/2010 16:17

This snow is getting on my nerves now!

left at 8.30 to trudge kids to school then get bus/metro/bus to work, arrived at 10.15, worked until 1.40 then got bus/bus back in time to sledge kids home (down hill on the way home Smile). It looks as if this could go on all week!

Don't want to think about Christmas shopping (internet or otherwise) I am too scared to look at my list. I fear I still have much to do!!

Good luck wendy

OverflowingMum · 29/11/2010 17:26

wincies lovely mum indeed

swan hope you had anice leisurely shopping trip Wink

wendy baking sounds good. The day before I had ds2, when I was in sort of mild pre-labour, I had baking frenzy and made 3 loaves of bread, 30 scones, biscuits, shortbread and a victoria sponge LOL All came in very useful for midwives/family/visitors over next couple of days!

scatty yes, snow is fine, IF you don't have to get anywhere!

well, have made it to work and back...roads actually not to bad here. kids schools and nursery all running as normal so far (much to dd4s dissappointment!)

am feeling quite grumpy still....

Need to decide about the possible Nanny...
It will cost us significantly more, BUT I can switch to 3 days, and hopefully will be much nicer for ds2, and will help with household stuff...
BUT will it make things better enough to justify extra cost?
Or is it worth doing for next couple of years to preserve my sanity and enable me to carry on in carreer, and see it as long term investment, in that in a couple of years ds2 will be at school and childcare costs significantly less....
OR could it turn out to be worse if she turned out not to be any good, and ds2 hated her more than nursery, or if she was off sick a lot etc.... and then we would e in a WORSE situation...

oh dear...decisions, decisions...

and as swan says , she still wont be me, which is after all what I really want... for ds2 to be at home with me....but just cant afford that as option just now Sad

anyway...

have managed to strip my bed this morning...bedding now drying then will re-make
also need to:
reboot laundry
good clean bathroom
tidy/organise dining room (still on my list)

and I do have to do some internet Christmas shopping...but may be slooooow!

DH in improved mood though thankfully, and has offered to go to Morrisons later for me ....not sure what we'll end up (even with specific list!) but I really can't face going out again!

right, need to get on BBL Grin

SatinShoes · 29/11/2010 17:47

OFM - try a Nanny and see. If you can afford it there are definite benefits it will be worth it.

I am gearing up for snow tomorrow. Just hoping DD1s nativity play on Wednesday goes ahead.

swanriver · 29/11/2010 18:19

School website has said that dcs have shortened school day from 8.50 till 1.15 for rest of week Shock due to no gas supply/heating problems. Now waiting for various working friends to ring me up and offer me their children - or should I be brave and invite them round before they even ask Sad
Not really a problem but was so looking forward to getting organised this week LOL. And will be in gift "shop" every morning.
And there's no snow yet Shock

Shopping trip good, but dh now in very very bad mood due to visiting child not being picked up when he thought it was meant to be! And realising how awful weekday tea is (he never usually has to survive it) Hmm

OverflowingMum · 29/11/2010 18:24

swan LOL, yes weekday tea is indeed just truly awful isn't it. My DH usually escaoes the true joy of the experience too, although is home early tonight as his meeting was cancelled, and already is huffing and puffing at general chaos!
Gish at school problems....sounds like it could be a challenging week...

satin hope nativity goes ahead...
will probably try Nanny, just afraid of making things worse!

OverflowingMum · 29/11/2010 18:34

OK, have ordered a few Christmas bits on line Grin
Have also ordered new contact lenses

ANd have reviewed my Christmas lists and appear to be more or less done for DC Grin

now need to sort sister, BIL and neice and
parents - but we only get smallish things for them
and then DH...who may prove to be my biggest challenge!

I would prefer dd1 (also 11) to have cupcake baker thing...but fairly sure she would prefer 2 way radio....and I suppose you can always bake cupcakes without special thingy...then again could also alwyas gossip with friends using phone...LOL

funtimewincies · 29/11/2010 19:44

Yeah, my mum's OK Grin. When I'm in her good books, she's tops, but when she's in one of her Daily Mail 'will no-one think of the children?' moods we just have to stay out of each other's way Confused.

Poncey - I'd have LOVED a 2-way radio when I was 11 Grin!

2 way radio. How cool!

swanriver · 29/11/2010 21:56

not cupcake present. tbh from that age on it was furniture clothes or gadgets Hmm

Fantastic you have done your present list OFM

just fallen asleep in dd's bed again, and now tucking into a few jalapeno peppers/anchovies to wake myself up

Now looking forward to rest of week - we'll be able to go swimming, have friends over, do craft, wrap presents (ha!), watch films, in fact do all the things there isn't quite enough time to do on normal school day Smile

Wendy good luck tonight!

dylsmum1998 · 29/11/2010 22:26

evening all. not been on here much as things got a bit manic. Still flying -just!

wEndy have you had bubba yet (sorry not read through thread yet, but know you cant have long left!)

been a mad few weeks, nanna died had 3 extra adults and 3 extra children, plus 2 dogs staying in the house for almost three weeks as a result. so absolute chaos by the time they went home.

am now trying to get organised and back to normal. Except xp has decided he is not going to take dd to school and back anymore. told me a few hours after not turning up last week Shock
the school breakfast and after school club have been great and stepped in. but this wont work as a long term solution so need to organise something else for after christmas.

How is everyone else doing?

funtimewincies · 30/11/2010 10:10

More snow last night and I just can't be arsed to do anything major Blush. I've done the usual tidying up and clearing the breakfast stuff away but dh is away with work, ds2 was awake with his teeth throughout the night and I'm shattered.
