it’s a very unique taste, from the lions and cherubs at the front door, to the (fake?) Chanel, the diamonte, mirrored furniture, bows and the pink, but the owner clearly keeps it clean and cares for it,

i think thr pile on of the op is unacceptable, I’ve seen loads of threads on here where people post links to homes and folks are giving it it’s grim, it’s soulless, etc, and it’s normally expensive houses this is deemed acceptable

Infact there was a thread the other day from someone who went to a 2m house, which was all pristine and high end and people were posting saying the owners life must be miserable, it was grim, it wasn’t a home but a show house. And that was without seeing it,
,
I’ve never thought it ok to take the piss out of someone’s house, but let’s not all pretend the op has done something unusual here.

We’re not talking about what other threads have done, unless we consider ourselves sheep and somehow devoid of the intellect to make our own choices. We are talking about this particular thread and a collective berating of someone’s individual taste with something as personal as their home when they are just trying to sell it. This is frankly trashier than any house could ever be.

That’s so not on. So when it’s other homes, predominantly expensive ones it’s ok to slag off someone’s choices, say how grim and soulless they are, but not for this one. Nope. Not ok.a homes a home.

No it is not okay. Ever.

Terrible it’s ended up on the Daily Mail now!! Hope you’re happy OP. Should have been taken down…..

I like it! I love the colours. The garden is a bit sterile but not everyone can be bothered with a garden, and to them it's obviously an outside space for eating etc., which suits them. I like this house a lot more than ones with the boring 'tasteful' decor that so many people have. Beige? No thanks! I'm sure its owner gets a lot of pleasure from it.

Seriously???
That’s awful. I feel so bad for the owners. They didn’t ask for this, didn’t consent and now have their house nationally broadcast - possibly internationally for ops cheap kicks. Wow…

They've got a full-page ad in the Mail for free! £45k at ratecard. Not to mention a free Twitter storm and this on MN.

Not a bad idea, actually, if you could bring yourself to deck your house out in a highly individual style before listing it 😈

Yes, because being mocked in the national press and on social media is such fun.

And you actually think being mocked on every platform at national level will help SELL the house???? With people calling it a monstrosity. Suddenly there will be a stampede of viewers- perhaps there will be but not for the reasons you imagine.

Next you will be suggesting the owner sets up a side line selling accessories in her garden to capitalise on her new found unasked for fame!

Op you owe these people a massive apology. We don’t even know if the house is being sold due to probate or illness. This is seriously out of order.

guineverehadgreeneyes · 16/02/2024 14:09

There is also an article about the house on page 23 of today's Times.

To be fair it might, folks buy the house not the furniture and it will garner more viewings, no one called the house a monstrosity, it is the decor and furnishings, past that it’s a fairly basic house.
