I think it's likely a gypsy house, in which case it will be spotlessly clean!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/02/2024 09:37

I think it's very sweet, and no worse than all the grey on grey on silver on grey personality voids that we often see. Also the cleanliness puts my house to shame.

tillytoodles1 · 14/02/2024 09:38

I lived next door to travellers who had settled in a house.
It was very similar in style to that one, and always spotlessly clean. It's what they like, and it's their home.

bingoringo4 · 14/02/2024 09:38

This thread is giving "mean girls"

solidarityname · 14/02/2024 09:41

I like it!

It’s got this fun, over the top vibe, nudge and a wink, knowingly over the top thing going on.

i genuinely like it. It made me smile in a good way.

Tilllly · 14/02/2024 09:41

The dusting....

Jellytotsburnmytongue · 14/02/2024 09:42

The person who owns the house has obviously put a lot of love and time into getting it just how they like it.

It looks clean and well cared for, and I can imagine how upset they'd feel seeing it put on here with people being so mean.

The house itself is a good size, in a good location and in good condition from the pictures.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/02/2024 09:45

100% not my personal style but I love it. I bet the owners know how to have a good time. I think I'd feel like a little kid again in their house, like I've walked into Barbie's dream house. 😄

ToMissAdventure · 14/02/2024 08:56

This house clearly belongs to someone who loves their home and invests time in making it exactly as they want it. I genuinely hope it’s enjoyed. I get the impression it is. I’m not enjoying the undercurrent of shaming people who might not have the finances and middle class aesthetic sensibilities needed to replicate a home that would meet the approval of people on this board. There is a family this house is a home to and they might read this.

I completely agree. That house says love and enjoyment to me.

I think I’d enjoy being a guest in that house.

solidarityname · 14/02/2024 09:50

Full of life, that’s what it is. It’s effusive and grand and living large, and enjoying life. I’ve been struggling to find the words, but I think that’s what that house says to me.

And I fully approve of that. Good on them.

Definitely. It's a fabulous expression of what makes them feel good.

I think it's fairly obvious it's the house of someone from the traveller community and this thread is just bitchy.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/02/2024 09:59

Great sized house once all the decor is removed.

JDJT · 14/02/2024 10:00

Not to my taste but it is presented well (it's neat and tidy, and not plain!)

Maybe, but I’m not a gypsy and I genuinely like it!

bingoringo4 · 14/02/2024 10:11

For all those saying it's a gypsy/traveller family. I can assure you it's not. There's no crown derby, Waterford crystal or washable rugs. But I can see why people would think that from the pelmets and mirrored furniture.

This. I am not about to join those who wish to sneer at the decor. Whoever lives there is obviously taking care to make a space in which they can enjoy their home.

ssd · 14/02/2024 10:20

Op wont come back. Clearly looking for everyone to sneer at this house, like they did. And it didn't happen.

MaryActsLikeSheDontCare · 14/02/2024 10:20

I agree. I think it most likely belongs to a member of the traveller community.

How horrible to post the link and encourage a pile-on of nastiness and sneering

MandyMotherOfBrian · 14/02/2024 10:22

I remember going to see a house back in the early 90s when me and BF were looking to buy our first house, we were shown round a lovely Victorian house in East London, not dissimilar to this one in interior styling. Shown round by the owners, a sweet couple who needed to move nearer to family after living in the EE all their lives. I can’t say we didn’t come out 😮, but I will always remember my BF saying, bless them, that house is their little palace and they love it with all their heart - so lovely to have that in your life. Made me think more of the BF too tbh, what a nice attitude to have.

I thought it was a gypsy/traveller family because it's so spotless. The kitchen units SHINE, not a finger mark, nothing.

But this is a wide community and picking apart the decor on a forum that could easily be found by the owner is really mean.

Travellers are hardly alone in liking loud luxury. Harrods wasn't run by travellers last I heard but the aesthetic is extremely similar.

greglet · 14/02/2024 11:15

Oh fgs, there are tonnes of threads like this on here. It's a ridiculously furnished house - no idea whether it's owned by travellers or not, and tbh that's irrelevant. But it's pretty overwhelming to look at, whether it's to your taste or not.

It's spotless and a huge amount of effort has gone into styling it, good for them.
