Why are posters acting like other people never come on to this board and post links of other properties from Rightmove! That’s ALL that people do

That doesn’t make what OP or anyone other poster ridiculing someone’s house is actually right. It just means there’s a lot of bullies out there. I’m glad these threads are starting to be called out for their bullying. I sold my house last year and I was so worried about ending up one on one threads because how I decorate my house isn’t up the standard of a few self elected people who deem their style to be the only appropriate one.

5YearsLeft · 14/02/2024 14:10

I mean… it IS spotless. Whoever they are, they’re better housekeepers than I am. And it looks much loved, even if it’s not my style. My only question is… does that wall say, LOVE | LAUGH | LOVE? So… no LIVE? Maybe they’re ghosts?

OP, I think your mistake was that this seems to be “trying to punch down.” Usually when people show OTT houses on here, they’re ones that indicate someone had a lot of money for architecture and/or interior decorating and spent it in an… intriguing and unique way. Sharing it for a bit of a laugh is punching up. This is someone who has made the best of what they have, like many of us - no, it’s not real Chanel, we all know, but it IS a certain style, and they keep it beautifully spotless and obviously love it.

starfishmummy · 14/02/2024 14:19

Without the furnishings it's probably nothing a coat of paint can't change.

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 14/02/2024 14:29

I quite like the Chanel bedspread

fluffiphlox · 14/02/2024 14:32

The garden though…

Tittyfilarious81 · 14/02/2024 14:38

Well I quite like it , it's her taste not mine but I think it's beautifully presented

solidarityname · 14/02/2024 14:48

I agree. I don’t really like any of those posts. But, as pp said, the ones I have seen, focus on extremely wealthy people who have deliberately gone for an eccentric ‘out there’ look.

The house you have posted is not in that category. The family clearly love their home and have spent a lot of care and money to do-ordinate it consistently. And they have done a good job of it.

Other posters can see the love and work put into this house. They can see the family will be , rightly, proud of their house.

And that’s what makes starting this thread so off.

Oh fgs, there are tonnes of threads like this on here. It's a ridiculously furnished house - no idea whether it's owned by travellers or not, and tbh that's irrelevant. But it's pretty overwhelming to look at, whether it's to your taste or not.

Don't look at it then.

Re other threads like this, that doesn't make it right for you to do it.

Its not to my taste but the owners obviously love it. We all like different things.

And re everyone saying it looks like they are living well in that house, I disagree, I can imagine any kids being told not to touch anything and a woman with anxiety carrying out endless cleaning. That doesn't give happy vibes to me.

NewOrder · 14/02/2024 15:09

Its the yellow box being left in the kitchen..take it out!

Absolutely spot on. Read and re read this op.

Newchapterbeckons · 14/02/2024 15:17

These threads always make me sad. I’m glad I don’t know people like you in rl op.

The house looks feminine and well loved, I imagine the person to be very loving with a gregarious character. It’s nice to see a house that actually possesses character these days. I would love to view it.

GoodnightJude1 · 14/02/2024 15:19

Each to their own but…..

stuff….too much stuff. Everywhere!!!!

User19798 · 14/02/2024 15:20

That house is spotless and well cared for, in a good area for a young family and a great price. Not everyone likes everything the colour of Farrow and Balls laters depressing sludge.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 14/02/2024 15:22

Although it's very far from my interior tastes I find these kind of threads really nasty and judgemental.

This home owner has clearly invested a lot of time to make their house their own and I find it sad that they could potentially be a Mumsnetter and see this thread!

Life would be pretty bland if we all had the same tastes and identical home decor. (Although pretty sure most people do these days😅)

This house clearly belongs to someone who loves their home and invests time in making it exactly as they want it. I genuinely hope it’s enjoyed. I get the impression it is. I’m not enjoying the undercurrent of shaming people who might not have the finances and middle class aesthetic sensibilities needed to replicate a home that would meet the approval of people on this board. There is a family this house is a home to and they might read this.

I don't think the OP posted it to "shame," but rather to show something that is out of the ordinary. Which it definitely is. Whether the owner reads this or not isn't the point. The point is that it's decorated in a very unusual way that calls for attention to whoever views it.

I also find it very hypocritical that people are saying the post is mean, when the same people have said a lot worse about human beings in other posts.

OP absolutely did not post this is a neutrally, ;' Oh gosh, isn't this interesting!' way.

Word like ' ridiculous', ' overwhelming' and a mocking portrayal of the wife and husband are clearly likely to induce feelings of humiliation if the recipients were to read it.

bonjourpaname · 14/02/2024 15:31

Wow, so mean, let's see your house please OP

Karatema · 14/02/2024 15:31

I wish my house was that immaculate!

Not my taste but, boy, is it clean.

WillimNot · 14/02/2024 15:32

That is chavtastic
You can imagine the people who live there can't you? Blimey.

IClaudine · 14/02/2024 15:33

That house is so clean. I wonder if whoever does the cleaning could give me some tips.

Lampzade · 14/02/2024 15:38

Itneverrainsinsocal · 14/02/2024 12:20

would much rather have a cup of tea in this spotless house than the dusty / pets everywhere / clutter / 'bohemian' houses that people seem to love on here 😁

Withaddedlint · 14/02/2024 15:41

It makes me want to cry

Residentevil · 14/02/2024 15:46

I love that the woman who owns this house has decorated and furnished it to her own taste, even though it’s against the ‘norm’ . I imagine her being one of those lovely, bubbly people who never has a bad word to say about anyone and who little girls crowd round at parties etc.

Beautiful looking home, not to my taste but clearly well loved by its occupier.
