It's a lot.
I actually like the chairs but the overall effect is rather cold and blingy for my tastes.

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 14:40

I'm thinking of swapping the table for one like this fhwt.app.link/jajnMCH6DGb £1000 down the drain 😞

The chairs, table and carpet altogether make it look a bit bling / tacky I think. You’re probably best replacing two of the three things and hopefully whatever is left will tie into a nicer decor scheme. A less fluffy, lighter carpet and chairs in a different colour without the button bits on would help a lot, if you can’t replace the table.

Agree with this.

the table might look better in a more neutral scheme (thinking of Meghan and Harry’s office with the big marble desk in it)

Fuckitydoodah · 11/02/2024 14:41

Yeah, sorry, I think it's horrible. It's giving off footballer's wives vibes.

Easterness · 11/02/2024 14:42

I think it will be fine if you choose the rest of the furnishings carefully. Lots of plants and some natural wood and it will soften the look

Sleepydoor · 11/02/2024 14:43

I would like the table and chairs with a neutral/natural floor and wall colour. Maybe a seagrass or sisal rug and take it into a more coastal vibe. But if you like over the top glam style, then maybe just lean into it more as people are saying. But I think the table would work if there was more contrast in the room.

MrsCharlieD · 11/02/2024 14:44

I'm sorry it's really not nice and that style of decor is dating quickly. I think the chairs are the worst part though. If you swap out the chairs it will look loads better.

MissRheingold · 11/02/2024 14:46

Table top isn't very nice.

The overall look is too much grey.

The chairs would look better if they weren't grey.

wendywoopywoo222 · 11/02/2024 14:51

It's not hideous, not to my taste at all but The whole room is just plain and not finished. I'm sure it will all look much better when you add some colour and your own bits and peices into it.

Seaside3 · 11/02/2024 14:57

Instead of wasting £1k , why not see if you can swap the legs, or paint/spray/gild them? The top isn't hideous, but all the chrome, glass and frey in the room makes it look a bit harsh. I doubt you will get anywhere near the amount you've spent on a resale, so it's got to be worth a shot.

When paired with wood like this photo, it looks timeless and elegant.

Table is OK, but the chairs are pretty awful tbh...

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 15:00

@Seaside3 I love that!

mypafology · 11/02/2024 15:04

Well, it's exactly the kind of table I'd expect to see in a conservatory that has a glittery grey carpet and grey chairs. It's in keeping.

sorestupid · 11/02/2024 15:05

i like marble but together with the chairs & carpet it’s a bit real housewives of new jersey!

zump · 11/02/2024 15:10

If it's real marble it probably looks and feels better than it does in the photo. I thought it was a painted/fake marble effect, but if it's real marble it'll give off a nicer vibe in real life.

Don't make any rash decisions. Live with it for a bit and have a play with different accessories to see if you can soften it. If the walls are pale pink, maybe put a pale pink runner down the length of the table? Or pale pink coasters, table mats, candles etc.

IAmNotAVet · 11/02/2024 15:11

You need some colour in the room. A runmer, and a vase of flowers would help.

You could get a different base made for the table. You would need one that could take the weight, though.

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 15:12

@zump Yes it's real marble, ridiculously heavy 😢 a pink runner is a brilliant idea, I'll have a look. I am honestly thinking of buying another table and DH is really upset

It fits with what you have

I wouldn’t waste money on another

This looks really nice

It’s not the marble that’s the issue

@zump like this?

Never seen a carpeted conservatory, the whole thing is rather odd.

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 15:16

@susiedaisy1912 he sent me the link for it and said do you like this? I thought I did then it arrived and I was like... oh 😢

Gingernaut · 11/02/2024 15:16

The dining chairs would put me off

Upholstered with fabric, so I'd never be able to clean them thoroughly

The rest I could tolerate, but the chairs would have to go
