Just got a new table for our newly renovated conservatory. DH loves it.. but it's hideous isn't it?

It's not my taste but it goes with the chairs and carpet.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/02/2024 14:01

Needs a great, big, shiny candelabra and some of those weird, door knocker things attaching to the back of the chairs 😁

Hummusandstuff · 11/02/2024 14:04

Unlikely you can return the set so yes, embrace it. Get one of those massive diamanté elephants or something and have some fun with it.

Teq · 11/02/2024 14:07

It’s not to my taste but you could get away with it in a room with a neutral floor. The glittery swirly carpet is very OTT and then the table on top pushes it out of tacky and onto another level entirely.

pictoosh · 11/02/2024 14:07

Unfortunately it is indeed an eyesore of a table.

EndlesslyDistracted · 11/02/2024 14:08

Sorry, I don’t like it. The top would be OK if the legs were plain, the chairs were in a different colour and the floor was wood effect, but all that grey and the fancy legs, just no. What’s the top made of?

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 14:08

It's marble

The chairs, table and carpet altogether make it look a bit bling / tacky I think. You’re probably best replacing two of the three things and hopefully whatever is left will tie into a nicer decor scheme. A less fluffy, lighter carpet and chairs in a different colour without the button bits on would help a lot, if you can’t replace the table.

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 11/02/2024 14:09

It’s absolutely bloody awful. And the chairs. Everything. Hideous.

EndlesslyDistracted · 11/02/2024 14:11

Eating off a marble table will be very clattery, every time you put down a glass, knife or fork (it’s the one thing I dislike about our quartz worktops in the kitchen). I think you could get away with it if you changed the flooring. the chairs do look comfy.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 11/02/2024 14:12

It’s rather Footballer’s Wives for my taste.

I agree with this!!

Don't try to tone it down! Totally lean into it!

HeddaGarbled · 11/02/2024 14:13

Some table mats would make a big difference.

PollyPeep · 11/02/2024 14:13

I think it goes with the rest of the decor really. Carpet and chairs both monochrome and quite bling. Could you say why you don't like it?

MadeOfAllWork · 11/02/2024 14:14

It’s not to my taste. Why do you have it if you don’t like it?

TousBous · 11/02/2024 14:15

You obviously like bling if you like glittery carpet 😂 Embrace it!

Silver is a neutral but I think a PP is right, the silver legs clash with the greys because it is just a small amount of a different tone grey. Add some more silver! A big silver candelabra like a PP suggested.

Putting a tablecloth on it will just make things worse. It would be like wearing granny pants with a red satin corset.

isthismylifenow · 11/02/2024 14:30

I can't get passed the fact there is a carpet is a conservatory. Granted I don't live in the UK but this seems odd to me.

Stranger than the table imo.

It just looks a bit busy.

SgtJuneAckland · 11/02/2024 14:32

I really don't like it, but I also would never choose a glittery grey carpet or those chairs, which it seems to be in keeping with, so I'm not sure why you hate it?

jackstini · 11/02/2024 14:34

I don't get the carpet in a conservatory either - was that there already OP or a choice?

If you can't change the table, then I think maybe you have to parody the room - go big on the tacky silver & glitter?!

IamNannyPlum · 11/02/2024 14:35

It’s not to my taste, but it goes well with the rest of the furniture. I think some of the other posters have been a bit harsh and I wouldn’t think twice if I saw it on one of my friends’ houses. I see stuff like this all over instagram in influencers’ homes and whilst it is very much a look, clearly it is a look that is popular.

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 11/02/2024 14:35

I've never seen carpet in a conservatory before.

I think it's everything together that looks OTT for that area and type of room. It's obviously difficult to tell from the photos, but it doesn't look like a vast conservatory. That table is a big statement to make in anything but a huge room.

surprise4 · 11/02/2024 14:36

Not my taste either but I think it matches the room as a whole.

rumbypumby · 11/02/2024 14:36

Is glitter/sparkle/grey a theme throughout your house? If so I would just go for it and add more silver. It's the table legs making it look a bit odd, and the chairs look a bit blue against the dark carpet. Has the carpet been hoovered in a way to make those lines on it or is that the design?

Is the wall pink though? If so maybe bring some more pink in.

Houseplanter · 11/02/2024 14:38

It would look a lot better with different chairs.

(Trying to be positive here)

custard3point14 · 11/02/2024 14:39

No the carpet is just a normal dark grey carpet with glitter in, it just looks textured as it's new I think or the lighting. We put a carpet in there just to warm it up a bit and make it feel a bit more like a room
