Just back for the Canaries and going to the US in the autumn.

nowlook · 11/06/2022 14:42

We're off to Messonghi (Corfu) in July. Only booked today as have been trying to find somewhere that suits us all for a good while.

lollipoprainbow · 11/06/2022 14:45

@midsomermurderess it was the first Greek island I ever visited as a teen with my parents. Made me fall in love with Greece.

Same as a pp dh has had leave refused. A week in the IOW and I'm taking the kids via ferry to the IOM.

Booking next years holiday in August so no excuses from dh again. If its booked well in advance.

I'm really cast strapped at the moment so got to use my imagination and how to streach out my spending

@IncessantNameChanger we asked 12 months in advance, the second leave was released. Flat no immediately. We only wanted a week camping in Devon. His job can be v cross making.

We had a week in West Wales at Easter in a cottage mainly to see the in-laws who live there who we have hardly seen for two years. We had a wonderful week that actually felt like a holiday.

Half term in The Netherlands including 2 night at Efteling. Had a thoroughly amazing time cycling around enjoying scenery and culture. All felt refreshingly normal, no Covid measures at all.

A week at a holiday park at Lake Garda in August with 3/4 days in France either side.

We always self cater and often camp in a tent but still always really enjoy our time away.

Already been to the US (did some national parks), have Weymouth and Sicily booked for later in the year. Never been to Sicily before so I’m looking forward to that. Weymouth is just for a long weekend to escape an insufferable local event.

Louise0701 · 11/06/2022 15:24

done canaries and Cornwall so far this year.
2 weeks in Greece in august and need to book somewhwre for new year.

Louise0701 · 11/06/2022 15:25

@lollipoprainbow why is it a boast? Some of us luke discussing holidays and getting new ideas. If you don’t want to, don’t click on a thread about holidays.

On begrudgery, there seem to be a cohort, swooping in on holiday and style and beauty threads, finger pointing and sucking lemons. Well, feck the begrudgers.
I’m just back from a lovely week on Lake Garda, and in September, 2 weeks in Skopelos.

Don’t forget about the hand wringers who will no doubt be along shortly to berate anyone travelling more than five miles from their home, and preferably by horse and cart😀

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/06/2022 15:26

Sark, I have three child free nights and going to see a friend

DontCallMeBaby · 11/06/2022 15:37

Mauritius, but I can’t get excited about it as I still don’t have a passport. Applied with 11.5 weeks to go, we are now at 3 weeks 😩

We've been away a lot this year, after not having really travelled since the beginning of Covid. We were in Hawaii for Christmas, then Whistler for skiing, then Park City, Utah, for another few days of skiing. We then went back to Hawaii for a month (which was partly a work trip, but we made it into a vacation). Now we are in Turkey for a month to visit my husband's family, first in Istanbul but now staying on the Aegean coast. During this time we intend to sail through the Cyclades. We then go to see my family in the UK and will go to North Wales coast, to the place we always stayed as a child.
Later in the summer, we will go to Nantucket. In the autumn, we already have Australia planned (again, partly for my job). We may go to New Orleans in November too. And then back to Hawaii, I hope, again for Christmas and New Year.
We travel a lot, but mainly it is vacation combined with work. It seems a lot written down.

I hope you get your passport. Sorry, this is so annoying as I can't find the thread now (quite recent), but someone on here was having the same issue and a Mumsnetter kindly put down all of the contact details (email addresses) and advice on the best chance of getting your passport back.

I'll keep looking to find it 😊

HELP PLEASE! DURHAM PASSPORT OFFICE

There is lots of useful info/email addresses. Best of luck and I hope you make it on holiday 👍🏼

Fitterbyfifty · 11/06/2022 16:39

The New Forest - hope the weather is good.

FourTeaFallOut · 11/06/2022 16:48

We've been to Spain, near Barcelona, for the week and we are camping in the Lake District for a week in the summer holidays. I might book a holiday in the October half-term if I'm confident that the airports have sorted their shit out.

BorisJohnsonsvomitbucket · 11/06/2022 16:50

Glamping two nights in the Cotswolds.

iklboo · 11/06/2022 16:52

Cornwall in two weeks. Mainly so DS can meet his LDR girlfriend in the flesh (so to speak) after two years.

BeyondMyWits · 11/06/2022 16:54

We had a week off and spent it visiting and treating our "kids" at uni, going to outlet stores, couple of nights in a nice hotel etc.

Going to center parcs Longleat before school hols ... a few days of chilling out with them.

Starting to wonder about holidays more now they are living more independently, could be our last together... who knows.

Bournemouth and Sandbanks in summer holidays.

Went here at Easter...it was lovely!

namechangeanonymous · 11/06/2022 16:59

Why do people click on the holiday board on an holiday thread to suck Lemons? Yes it's hard at the moment, but why is it a race to the bottom?

We've been to Lanzarote earlier in the year, I'm heavily pregnant now so won't be doing much more this year I quite fancy a trip to Oxford for a day or two with DH and Baby towards end of the year.

weegiemum · 11/06/2022 17:07

We're off to Croatia next week now that we don't have to conform to school holidays any more! Me & dh plus 3 dc plus a +1 for each dc! Really looking forward to it, we last had a foreign summer holiday 4 years ago. In between we've been to our holiday house in the Outer Hebrides (used to live there when dc were small and will be returning in a few years) and are going there in September and November.

Abraxan · 11/06/2022 17:10

Not yet decided for the summer, infact looking to book this weekend or next for the summer holidays.

Dh and I went to Jamaica in February half term for a week.
We have just been for 5 nights to New York with 20y dd this last half term.
Dh and I will likely go somewhere in October half term - possibly Scotland or maybe a short haul city break.

Summer will be with dd again, possibly long haul, definitely somewhere hot.

Dd has been to Porto with friends for a few days and is going to Milan with a different friend for a few days at the end of the month.

The Hebredies is somewhere I have always fancied visiting- not sure I would want to live there though!

Camping in Wales. But I really love it :)
