So many of you having lovely holidays.
I've not long had a lovely break in Mallorca. We are still waiting for our boys passports so until they are back I'm not booking a family holiday abroad for this year but once we get them we will have a long weekend in either Rome or Copenhagen visiting friends.
August we have a week booked in Cornwall then a week in Devon. Me and a friend are taking our kids up to Scotland for a road trip in our camper-vans in October which will be amazing.
As soon as passports arrive I am booking a family holiday to northern Ibiza for next June - can't wait!

@BeanCounterBabe Tell me about Efteling please!! We are planning to go there in the summer. Any tips??

We stayed in the Loonsche Land hotel for two nights whch was great, 2.5 days which was a decent amount of time. Keep an eye on the app for ride times. Make sure you wander around the fairytale forest even if your kids are older. Full of surprises and very charming. The Violetta boat ride is surprisingly fun and an opportunity to sit down for 20 minutes. Food is reasonable value for a theme park but we did take in drinks as they didn't have many if any fountains to fill up. I did get a refill at a food stall when bits though. And snacks as well. We went on nearly all the rides, enjoyed all apart from Carnival which is a weird version of Disney small world. Didn't like it all. If staying on site get in for 9.30am to squeeze in some popular rides before the crowds appear. Take time to wander and enjoy the park. It's very nicely done. There is FB group, Efteling for Brits or something, very helpful.

@EllaPaella where did you stay in Mallorca? Would you recommend?

MissAmbrosia · 13/06/2022 11:48

Dd was 18 this year and is working away over the summer so whilst sad there is no "family" holiday - we're not restricted by school hols. I've done:

Weekend in Manchester with family/friends - the airport was bloody mad.
Week in Antibes/Juan Les Pins with DH in May. Weather was gorgeous.
This past weekend - Madrid with my friends - absolutely roasting, but great food, lots of sightseeing and drinking cocktails on roof terraces.

Planned:

Week in UK in July - Yorkshire/Derbyshire/London - in an attempt to catch up with many people I have not been able to see in the last couple of years.
10 days in Puglia/Matera in September with DH and a friend.

DH has a big birthday in August so we will do something for a few days - hopefully with dd. We've been discussing over the weekend where to go for our next girls trip. Probably an Xmas market somewhere in December. We'd normally have a weekend in October but it's busy this year. We want to go back to Madrid as we barely scraped the surface. But also Lisbon again, and Palma and.....

Badbadbunny · 13/06/2022 11:49

We're off to the North Yorkshire Coast. Really can't facing airports nor foreign travel at the moment.

Love that part of the country. We have a regular holiday with my mum, sister and me to North Yorkshire every couple of years

WhereIsMyGlasses · 13/06/2022 13:07

We're having a week in Skye, and a week somewhere in October yet to be decided. As many day trips and camping weekends as we can too.

Lots of lovely destinations, and I love hearing the logistics too. Great ideas for the future.

EllaPaella · 13/06/2022 16:33

@Ohthatsexciting Stayed in Palma but went out to St Illetes, just 20 mins further along the coast. A beautiful beach with lovely hotels and restaurants and the sea is crystal clear and so safe for swimming and snorkelling. I have heard really good things about Cala d'or as well and will probably look at going there if we don't go for northern Ibiza next year. It's the first time I'd been to Mallorca and I absolutely loved it, will definitely go back.

Midnightstar76 · 13/06/2022 18:22

Family weekend away in Chester done in February

Barcelona weekend trip away in a couple of weeks with just DH

Camping weekend at a site near Skipton Yorkshire with my family and sisters family in July

Surprise weekend away in November to take children to see Harry Potter tour in Watford

Trolltrotters · 13/06/2022 20:41

We've already been to swanage in feb half term, Netherlands/duinrell at Easter, Weymouth last week and butlins Bognor Regis now (I do love butlins for DS2 who's four)

Summer is IoW and somewhere hot/Spain mainland/Mallorca and probably camping in Staffordshire.

DS1 and DH off to Madrid I'm October but im wondering about Florida for December. We're not Disney lovers but DH has an enforced Christmas shut down so it's be nice to go somewhere different for us.

Can anyone tell me about their Florida holidays, particularly in December? Where did you stay? What was the weather like? Any cool stuff to do?

I absolutely love reading these threads; inspiring and I think I'm a bit of a nosy cow Smile

TattiePants · 13/06/2022 20:55

We’re finally doing our mini European road trip that was booked for 2020 although we’ve had to knock off Belgium & Luxembourg City as couldn’t make the dates work. DS won’t fly so it’s Euro Tunnel then France, Switzerland, Black Forest and finishing off at Center Parcs in France to keep the DCs happy.

Also, off to Bluestone in Wales for October half term with friends. It’s a long drive so we’ll probably tag something else on the end.

Jajana · 14/06/2022 02:44

February: Chicago and Washington
May: Porto
June: Mexico City (currently here)
September: Doha
November: Malaysia

KobaniDaughters · 14/06/2022 06:12

Not doing a big holiday because we’re moving home to the U.K.!! Been living west coast USA for the last 10years so we got our fix in earlier this year with a road trip to SF and camping in Temecula. Moving back in 2 weeks via family in Canada. So far the rest of the year is planned pretty much going to see friends in Cornwall, IOM, the Cotswolds, Bournemouth. Prob going to Scotland at Christmas with the in-laws. Can’t wait!!!

KobaniDaughters · 14/06/2022 06:14

Oh - and we’re dumping D.C. with my parents within 2 weeks of arriving in the U.K. for a weekend in Paris just DH and I - they did say they wanted more time with the children 😉

Thank you
i had a look at st llletes and if me and partner… hell yes!

but single parent of two children who are super sporty and just want to swim and play beach games all day every day. And then I love evenings going for a walk to local town. So alcudia fits the bill

any recommendations for an alcudia 4/5 star hotel would be hugely gratefully received!

From a fellow nosy cow , are you self employed? I wonder about so much time off , also did you win the lottery 😂

Debsdonein · 14/06/2022 08:13

Menorca on july.

ColinRobinsonsfamiliar · 14/06/2022 08:16

Oooooh!!
not been away for so long!
We did long weekend in London in April, got a week in wales in August and then… Florida in November!
Been saving up for 2 years for that holiday!!

Trolltrotters · 14/06/2022 11:40

@Bumtum126 Grin no. I'm a SAHM.

Sounds a lot but places aren't too bad out of season. I went to duinrell with my sister and spilt the cost. Camping fairly cheap, Madrid rescheduled covid break for football and possible Florida hasn't yet been booked, but it's a big birthday year for me and I want a good holiday

Silkierabbit · 14/06/2022 17:05

I am doing a years cancer treatment atm, well 10 years but year is active bit, so restricted to UK, did Edinburgh and Lake District in Feb half term and saw beatrix potters cottage and lovely candelit dinner, zoo in Edinburgh, castle and Forth Bridge.

Easter was night in hotel donated by cancer charity then on to Pembrokeshire, lovely farm B&B with home cooking by a former chef and saw puffins on boat trip.

We did a quick overnight stay to see puffins on Staple Island May half term

Next we have a week in a 4 bed cottage close to Lands End again donated by cancer charity for the family and friend of DD. Have booked night on way down in apartment with private swimming pool and surfing, hiring a Morgan 4 seater for the day, Minack theatre performance, coastal wildlife trip, and st Michaels Mount by boat and hopefully swim in sea in early July.

Then in October will go to France but that is to stay with MIL. Hopefully next year will be able to go abroad, really want to take our 2020 aborted holiday to Borneo.

SomewhereEast · 15/06/2022 19:21

Why do people click on the holiday board on an holiday thread to suck Lemons? Yes it's hard at the moment, but why is it a race to the bottom?

We've been to Lanzarote earlier in the year, I'm heavily pregnant now so won't be doing much more this year I quite fancy a trip to Oxford for a day or two with DH and Baby towards end of the year.

I used to live in Oxford & there's a lovely point in early September where the tourists have mostly gone home but the students haven't really arrived yet + the weather is often nice. Definitely the best time to go if you can.
