Starting a thread re: performing arts applicants for 2025. If one already exists, happy to be redirected!!

Anyone pressed 'send' on their applications yet? Curious as to timelines for initial responses and to submit self tapes....

Buckling in for a long and nervous journey!

Not us this year but I always follow these threads - daughter will be auditioning next year. She is currently doing BTECH MT at a specialist college and I find the whole process terrifying, so get all our info from threads like this.

What is your child going for?

doesanybodyhaveamap · 03/11/2024 22:47

Their hoping to train as an actor-musician. Been juggling music with theatre since tiny!

they're 😅

Ooo that’s exciting. Have they chosen their top drama schools?

doesanybodyhaveamap · 04/11/2024 07:50

Not too many places do actor musicianship at undergrad, so the list is pretty defined! GSA top with Rose Bruford a close second, then Leeds and Mountview. They will also apply for MT at RWCMD and Leeds where they can access good music teachers (and RWCMD has an actor muso masters too). Tbh there are no bad options on this list - all amazing places to train where we feel DC will be happy. The challenge now is to bag a place!

Morning all, I'm also watching this thread as my lovely Niece is about to go through the same process. She's currently at a specialist performing arts 6th form. The audition process is even more horrendous than conservatoire auditions which my Ds went through last year. Wishing everyone the very best of luck 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Have they decided where they are applying??

@doesanybodyhaveamap I've pm'd you as don't have permission to talk about Niece from my sister in law. If & when I do, I'll post on here.

How are you getting on? DD has applied to Italia Conti, Emil Dale, Scottish Institute, Performers, Urdang, Wilkes and The Hammond. Its nerve wracking to say the least!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 22/12/2024 18:22

We're doing ok! Audition dates in Jan and Feb for GSA and Mountview. Just sent off round 1 tapes for Leeds and have until 7th Jan to send in tapes to Rose Bruford. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

My DD has decided to take an offer from Italia conti for their certHE MT course. She applied to do BA MT but they offered the foundation year, and she has accepted it. She applied to Mountview, ArtsEd, Emildale and Italia Conti. She was going to apply to GSA & Trinity too, but has now decided she needs this foundation year, as only does all this part time at the moment, and she absolutely loved her audition day there, said it's the school for her. So she will reapply next year for the BA. She has had a blast auditioning, but I'm quite relieved she made a decision so quickly. Good luck to all your DC, look forward to reading where they all get offers from, and good luck to all the family members, I find wine helps a lot 😂

Scotsmamma78 · 04/01/2025 11:55

Ah that’s amazing! My dd applied there for mt BA but got recalled for dance instead, offered a place on the 1 year and waitlisted for the degree. She has a BA MT unconditional from SI, waitlisted for one year at Emil dale and still a few to go! I wish she had been offered at Emil dale as I think that’s the one for her! We are the same, she only attends dance as a hobby and is finding lots have done a foundation already etc. it’s all a learning curve!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 04/01/2025 22:05

Congrats to your DC's on the foundation offers! Auditions lining up here- Leeds recall on 11th, GSA on 25th, Mountview in Feb half term. Just about to press submit on self tapes for RB.

Hello I’m here again!

DD having auditioned, in 2023, got two good offers for MT, at Chichester and ICT (now performers), decided to take a gap year and defer.

Spent her time travelling and performing - local theatre - then gave up deferred offer to reapply in 2024 for her ‘top’ choices, got two offers for BA, one Rose B, one PPA and recalls to Mountview and Italia but took a foundation offer at GSA, where she started in Sept.

All this means is she starts it all again for a BA course, as won’t automatically progress to the GSA one!

I’m exhausted with it all and it’s just started! But having experienced two years of auditions, at least know what to expect.

Good luck to everyone!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 05/01/2025 20:27

Wow @Paddlinglikehell , such a rollercoaster!!! Is she loving GSA? That's my DC's top choice currently....

Yes she is snd it’s been good for her, despite attending a PA 6th form, she has come on loads, especially dance. But she’s not sure she will get onto the BA, it’s really hard and she’s seen the talent.

It will really only be 4 months of study before she’s auditioning too, so not long.

The campus is fabulous.

Newgirls · 08/01/2025 18:01

Good luck everyone!

I was shocked to hear that Bristol old Vic isn’t taking undergrads in sept. It’s such a great school.

doesanybodyhaveamap · 08/01/2025 21:11

Yeh. Sad news! Does make me worry that if they can go, so can lots of the others 😢

OP posts:
Newgirls · 09/01/2025 14:47

Yes so true. It’s such a prestigious place with good alumni.

i am amazed they couldn’t put the fees up online with say mountview. Yes that would stop some people applying which is sad but it would still function

doesanybodyhaveamap · 12/01/2025 12:04

DC really enjoyed their audition at Leeds Conservatoire yesterday. It's going to be hard to beat! Really keeping everything crossed for good news.

How's everyone else doing?

My daughter is applying now for a BA in Musical theatre. She’s applied to GSA, Urdang, Emil Dale, Bird, Trinity, PPA & Italia Conti. She had an audition workshop for EDA yesterday and has her PPA audition at the regional Manchester audition in 2 weeks, trinity next month and Bird in March.

We live up in Scotland though so it’s hard to navigate all tje travel and audition dates but getting there. We haven’t been able to do any open days as yet. She already loves EDA though so if she got offered there she would be absolutely delighted.

best of luck to all the YP’s auditioning this year.

doesanybodyhaveamap · 12/01/2025 16:56

All the best to her @Mrsg26 , it's such a juggling act isn't it? We're at GSA on 26th Jan.

Just following this thread as my DD was going through all this last year - totally empathise with all the stress and angst! She is now in her first year at EDA so happy to answer any questions. Good luck to all your DC it's a tough process.
