Starting a thread re: performing arts applicants for 2025. If one already exists, happy to be redirected!!

Anyone pressed 'send' on their applications yet? Curious as to timelines for initial responses and to submit self tapes....

Buckling in for a long and nervous journey!

Hi there, I have my son on the reserve list for ArtsEd. Are there chances of him getting an offer? He knows a couple of people that were on reserve. Can they accept people throughout the year ?

We're on waiting list for GSA, hoping there is some movement as they see more people and start to build the cohort 🤞🏻

It's weird because we haven't heard of anyone getting offered ArtsEd. So I don't know if they have started giving out offers yet !!!

Thanks @Paddlinglikehell . I just assumed that there is little point in going to open days as the entry is so competitive, that you don't often get to pick the place as in the place picks you?

Very true and they will usually get a tour at audition.

Personally l wanted to get a feel for an area or campus if I could too, DD would have been hopeless relaying it, I was probably a bit too
invested first time round! There is often the option of visiting after an offer if it comes in in time too.

Newgirls · 05/02/2025 20:20

If you can get to open days do - I was surprised that my dd didn’t warm to a couple of prestigious places as too small. So well worth her realising that asap.

Agree. My dd saw one place on her list and just said ‘I don’t think I would want to go here’. I was surprised as we’d only had the introduction talk! But it was useful, as it was one less to put on her UCAS, opening a slot for another choice.

Paddlinglikehell · 06/02/2025 20:46

Dd auditioned at GSA yesterday and got an offer on the day!

Shes waiting for Rose B outcome and still
has a couple more to go. I’m relieved she’s got somewhere!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 06/02/2025 21:07

That's fantastic @Paddlinglikehell !!! Her persistence has paid off!!! Congrats x

Congratulations to everyone with offers and/or recalls. It’s great to hear the good news. 😄 My DD starts her auditions next Friday. Oh the stress! 😖

Amazing! Congratulations to your DD @Paddlinglikehell. We know a couple of the MT foundies at GSA. Good luck to them all. 🤞🏻

Brilliant. DD went on Tuesday and really liked it but that was American Theatre Arts.

when is it?

Newgirls · 07/02/2025 20:08

The RB campus is lovely - really unexpected. Very green and lovely buildings.

doesanybodyhaveamap · 07/02/2025 20:40

Yes we went to an open day in October. Loved the theatre there!

That's great news. My son's RB recall came through today. Very relieved, it's been over a month!

Winginit73 · 08/02/2025 00:55

That post was meant to be a reply to OP's post from yesterday about getting the recall, I have not yet mastered replying to specific posts!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 08/02/2025 09:07

@Winginit73 congrats to him too!! A while to wait now for the actual recall, but it looks like they are doing all the AM's over 3 consecutive days so I assume we'll know pretty quickly afterwards. So relieved. MV round 1 next week...

On our way down to London with DD she has 4 auditions for MT Courses in the next two weeks, bracing ourselves and keeping everything crossed, the competition is tough x

Nickyfilsh · 09/02/2025 14:27

Oh wow congratulations!

Redbookworm · 10/02/2025 13:44

Hi all,
We are currently going through this...it's very stressful and we seem to be very behind most of you!
My son applied via UCAS in January. His choices are GSA, Urdang, Italia Conti and Chichester
He has submission dates next week for Italia and GSA. Urdang in April.
Chichester want to audition him but have no available dates!
He had an audition last October for EDA but didn't get in.
It's going to be a stressful few months!

Newgirls · 10/02/2025 14:06

It is stressful but also all the advice says it’s a 2-3 year process so don’t panic. Lots don’t get in first year yet learn a lot about the process. And if they do - great!

It is stressful, but don’t worry about being late.

DD auditioned now twice, first time she was early, second time later, it seemed to make little difference.

First year she decided not to go - despite offers - took a year out. Second time was late, got more offers. (Could be she was just older?) she took a foundation at GSA.

She is applying for BAs again now, has only just submitted her self tape to GSA. Lots of her cohort have already heard.

As long as submissions are before the deadline, it’s okay.

Do you think there's any truth in the theory that some drama schools "cast" their third year play even as they audition a new intake? Or they at least cast the year in terms of diversity/age/gender etc This has been talked about over in the Students Room. The implication being that it's probably not best to be auditioning last (as my DD is!) as they might already have offered to your "type".

Newgirls · 11/02/2025 13:20

They absolutely want a range of people. And that’s true of the industry. Don’t think they know their year 3 productions yet but it must be a factor. Boys really are at an advtange here as fewer apply. Still need to be amazing tho. I doubt any will say it bluntly but white soprano girls must be the toughest to choose from as so many. Early or late you would need to really stand out

My daughter has applied to Leeds Conservatoire (amongst others) and has been invited to an interview. She couldn't make the date , so is waiting for an alternative to be offered. But, it transpires that she has applied for the wrong course ie Acting, when she wanted Musical Theatre with Acting. I'm not sure if she should tell them now or wait and see if she's offered a place, then tell them.

I think she must have some confusion as there is no Musical Theatre with Acting course.

There is Acting; Musical Theatre or Actor Musician

Has she resolved it yet?
