A few of us have just discovered we all did philosophy - a connection we didn't realise we had.

Any more?

sunnysideup · 20/11/2006 10:51

I did three dimensional design (people will always need plates

and then I thought that was too much like having a nice, fun life so after that I trained as a social worker so that I could have a crap, horrible job where every day I would be scared for my physical safety

I did French and Spanish with 'Aspects of C20 French thought' as one of my modules, does that count?

multitasker · 20/11/2006 10:54

BA Social Anthropology, was great fun - did a module on witchcraft and wisdom in the Seychelles - does that count as philosophy?

sunnysideup · 20/11/2006 10:57

Fio, yes it was Ceramics though nothing so useful as plates was allowed

The social worker thing came about a few years later when I realised that it's mainly rich people who can sustain a 'career' as a designer/maker, and from a misguided belief that I wanted to allow my socially conscious side to come out

sunnysideup · 20/11/2006 10:59

At a previous office one of the senior social workers had a sign behind their desk saying "Just because I don't CARE doesn't mean I don't UNDERSTAND"

says it all I think

Aderyn · 20/11/2006 11:05

Philosophy. I was led into a false sense of enjoyment during my first year and changed to it as my main degree in my second year. By the third year, when I'd run out of the enjoyable options, I regretted that decision

For a long time I regretted my degree choice but now I see that it has re-shaped the way I think.
