Just made a small donation, not a lot I'm afraid but I couldn't send nothing. I like the Lush idea Riv, their Dream Cream is fantastic as hand/face cream, and maybe shower jelly would be good if she's got limited movement after surgery? Just need a bowl of water for that, and it lathers up really well.
Toc, do you know if the hospital knows about her PND? (Judging by what they've been like so far I'd guess no, but you never know) they might be able to continue her AD prescription and make sure she gets them. Don't mean to be like a dog with a bone but I know PND makes life difficult enough, last thing she needs to try to come to terms with her loss

must go and make an effort with my housework, will come back and update if I get any news via text (obviously can't keep an eye on FB though).....I hope her battery hasn't gone dead.

She did say last night her battery was low, would hate to think that her "contact" with the outside was stopped because of that

Katy that's awful!

When I was in hospital after having had an EC because they induced my son on his 'due date' they put us on a ward with 2 other healthy women with healthy babies. They also put a woman on the ward who had just had a premature birth of twins at 26 weeks. How the poor thing must have felt I don't know. I was shattered and dozy from pain killers and DSs cot was right next to her bed so he woke her up before I even stirred. What were they thinking!?

Have just found and read this thread. Aitch and everyone else who helped you should be very proud of yourselves - you have brought tears to my eyes (soppy git alert!!).

I am in Swindon so cant do anything today but tomorrow or the weekend I can pop down to Bristol. Let me know if you need me to do anything.

I will contribute on payday as so broke at the mo!

SC wishing you a speedy recovery. Lots of unMNetty hugs. Totally [shocked] by your disgusting treatment and thankful that MN was here for you. Wishing you well!

Have just caught up with this thread - Spooky I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have tried to write about how magnificent everyone has been here (particular shout out to Aitch) but it's coming out far too trite-tastic.

Needless to say, MN is fucking wonderful.

I'm near Bristol but carless and at work today.

Blimey! I read the thread when Spooky started it, cannot believe what has happened! Well done MNetters for recognising what the crappy doctors were totally dimissing. Can't believe that 'words on a screen' have saved someones life!!!!

Really hope SC gets well soon.

Charlotte, am so sorry for your loss and your pain wishing you well for recovery x

Some amazing people on here, you know who you all are - MN at it's best

Might I suggest a gift if anyone is popping up today? A solar mobile phone charger so Charlotte doesn't lose her contact?

I have followed this thread from the beginning and am so full of anger and sadness at all the shitty care experiences people have had when going through an EP. Like many here, I knew only the biological basics of ectopic - none of the wider issues or how dangerous they can be. Would fully support a MN campaign to raise awareness, since although I'm glad to be better informed now I do wish it hadn't come about because of someone else's pain and misery.

Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Spooky, and hope you're hugging those kids v soon

Lewis, I've sent a small donation.

Have sent small donation Lewisfan, let me know if it comes through OK.

Bless you Aitch.

Still weeping at the ep stories on here. Bf had ectopic at about 6 weeks, fobbed off and distressed by unsympathetic gp. Then when pg again told not allowed early scan until 8 weeks "because that's when we do reassurance scans" . That's at a major teaching hosp ffs.

All the best for your recovery, Charlotte. So sorry for all you've been through.

My goodness, what a tale. I've just been reading through it and I'm gobsmacked. All best wishes to SC, and hope that your aftercare is better than your initial experience! Yeowch!
I can't imagine the trauma of going through this, unlike so many of you who know exactly what it's like.

Take care, and gentle hugs from me when any of you get to visit...

I am in Bristol, although at work today. How long is she likely to be in hospital post-surgery? I could do something for her tomorrow if that's not too late.

Report
AitchTwoZone · 22/04/2010 11:27

it will depend on the nature of the op and her determination not to spend another second in the hospital... i was out by 6pm same day, couldn't bear it.

I'm in Bristol but working all day

Will donate some money though and I think I know a nurse that works on one of the women's health wards - I could get her to be extra nice to her (she is nice anyway) but she won't be able to tell me anything about SC will she so how will she know who she is?

Very happy to get behind a campaign to help prevent this happening to others.

Goodness me.

The NHS really has failed SC in this situation by simply not following their own protocols. Thank the Lord for posters such as Aitch who are knowledgeable enough and have the confidence to push for what they know is right.

SC - I really hope you're recovering well. Be kind to yourself. This will take time to come to terms with.

Lewisfan - I have sent a small donation but forgot to refernce it sorry! My initials are JP, DH's are GP (the paypal account is on his e-mail address). Thanks for organising this.

this thread either needs mumsnet to stop it expiring at 1000 posts or 2 new ones setting up the first as a support best wishes update on spooky thread and the second as a how to coordinate EP awareness thread

Big hugs to SC, so sorry you had to go through all this.

I am so touched and shocked at the community on MN, have been member for ages but only been hanging out in threads for a few months.

You are all brill. So toucheed by your care.

lewis contribution on its way too.

I did not know half of these symptoms and definately agree an awareness campaign needs to be launched.
