stripymouse, you could tell anyone who trys to tempt you into something you don't want to eat that since you got pregnant just the tought of an x or a y turns your stomach, and that you're sure if you took one mouthfull you'd throw up. bet they don't ask you twice

am having a red day today. I usually prefer red as I feel I lose weight quicker on red days. I also find I have less things to pick at on green days - although since trying crunchies chick pea peanuts at the weekend I could be a green day convert ! am going to have another green day tomorrow and try the tortilla chips.

girly, how are you feeling now ?

Crunchie · 14/07/2003 12:56

Well I'm back on this for a couple of weeks as I have been really naughty since reaching target and have put on 7lbs (I knew I had been really really bad!!) It's my birthday next monday so I want to get within target range (ie 3lbs over) by then. I know one 'good' sticking ot the plan week will do this, have a day off for my birthday and then another good week and I'll be fine. It just means no snacks really as I tend to eat SW anyway, but I've been eating loads of bread and chocolate and crisps between meals !! Back to chickpea peanuts and pasta torillas!!

Girly · 14/07/2003 13:49

Hi Kayleigh, am feeling much better, thanks for asking.

Have to admit to falling off the wagon yesterday, too much BBQ and Pimms! But am back on today, have no idea how much weight have lost, might try my friends scales in a mo, will let you know...

Hi. It's my monday morning weigh in and I've lost a pound this week. I've just had my depo injection which usually makes me put on weight so I am quite pleased. I have also bought some chick peas to try one night as evenings and the weekend are the hard parts for me - I am a picker and will eat any old c*p that the boys are having - and I mean any old c*p!! Good luck everyone - I will try for at least one again this week!

winnie1 · 14/07/2003 16:42

Have eaten a whole punnet of peaches today! Greedy, but lush and sin free

Lilibet I have decided to do as you do and save my sins for the weekend as I noticed at the weekend that when dh is around I tend to eat more 'sinful' food. Have begun an exercise programme in earnest and mentally its been a real boost already. feel great for it.

Well done luchar: remember 1lb a week is 52 lbs a year!

Wish I had found this site sooner, I started 5 weeks ago, Wed will be my sixth weigh in, an dhave lost 9lb in those 5 weeks. I had wanted to loose a stone before ds2 christening on the 3rd of aug but I think that just a dream.

I am amazed at what you can eat, and think I would loose more if I did more red days, but tend to pick all day on free green food pasta etc, which I think bags you up.

Anyhow, I phoned the sin line and 25ml of pimms is 3 sins so not too bad.

Furball · 15/07/2003 08:35

Wwwhhhooooo, lost my first 1/2 stone last night!

It's taken me 4 weeks, so I'm pleased. Doesn't help when newbies come and lose 5 lbs in their first week though.

Only another stone and abit to go.

winnie1 · 15/07/2003 08:49

Sorry about the triple posting I had problems accessing Mumsnet yesterday and thought what I'd written had disappeared into cyberspace!

Well done Furball. That's great.

Deegward, welcome! It sounds like you are doing really well so don't be too hard on yourself if you don't hit the target you had set yourself.

I use the sins 'hotline' too and it has been really useful. Good to know about the Pimms too.

lilibet · 15/07/2003 12:20

Furball and Deegward, well done you!! I'm still sticking to it ready for the next weigh in on Friday morning. Must start doing more excecise tho' the hols are 6 weeks today, Not tried the tortillas yet but am going to. Does anyone knwo of any sinfree dips or have good recpies?

kayleigh · 15/07/2003 12:23

Furball, that's great. You should treat yourself to something nice to celebrate your achievement (not food though!).

Deegward, I agree with you about green days. I do find they make me feel heavier. And when I was going to class I always had a better loss if I stuck to two or less green days per week.
But I am looking forward to my green day today. I have made my first batch of sin-free tortilla chips for tonight. But I keep picking at them as they are vert tasty and I'm not sure they'll last that long ! I am also having sin free chips with egg and baked beans for lunch - my favourite green meal.

Crunchie · 15/07/2003 21:01

Virtually sin free dips include a base mix of quark and natural yoghurt or fromage frais (I tend to mix a big dollop of each, god knows why!). Mix the base with any number of things

  1. Tzatziki - cuopped cucumber, garlic and herbs (parsley or mint) black pepper.
  2. Honey/Mustard one teaspoon each of honey and grainey mustard makes about 1sin per pot of dip, more honey/mustard + more sins, but one tsp each makes about a ramekin full of dip.
  3. Salsa - can chopped tomatoes and onions, add chopped peppers, chilli, cucumber etc (easy peasy in a food processor) sin free on red or green - add sweetcorn on green perhaps.
  4. onion and chive - as it sounds, spring onions and chives.
  5. 1000 island - tbsp tomato puree and chopped gerkins - about 1 sin

All of these are pretty good but add lots of black pepper and sometimes a squeeze of lemon juice seems to help. I do the salsa, honey/mustard, tzatziki for parties with loads of veggie sticks and pasta tortillas.

Crunchie · 15/07/2003 21:06

Don't know about you guys but posting my diet sheet on here daily would really help me, it menas someone else gets to read it so I am less likely to cheat!! Also it might give others ideas on what to eat, and of course check that mistakes aren't being made, what do others think??

Here goes for Monday, day 1 of my 14 day plan.

Breakfast
Natural yoghurt mixed with poridge oats (B) apple and banana.
Lunch
Cous cous salad - pack of flavoured cous cous mixed with cucumber/peppers/tomatos
Supper
Cauliflower/carrots raw with fromage frais/mustard dip (1 sin)
Pasta with Lentil Dhal
1 glass wine (5 sins)

Total 6 sins, leaving 4 extra another day!!!

lilibet · 15/07/2003 22:09

Yes I think it would be a really good idea to post what we eat daily as it would also gove me inspiration.
Today, Tuesday
Breakfast chopped banana with mueller vanilla
lunch couscous and salad a la crunchie! and 5 satsumas
Tea was a bit of a rush so it was just a packet of savoury rice as I had to be straight out and now I'm starving.
No exercise at all today!!

lilibet · 15/07/2003 22:10

sorry forgot to add, thanks for the dips crunchie, looking forward to those on friday.

Crunchie · 16/07/2003 09:35

OK day 2 Tuesday
Breakfast
Yoghurt/banana/apple/porridge (B)
Lunch
SW Quiche and salad
Melon
Teatime
Jkt potato/cottage cheese
Later in the evening!
Leek/mushroom/sweetcorn mixed with can macoroni cheese
Glass of wine (5 sins)

So far 11 sins this week, saving for the weekend!

kayleigh · 16/07/2003 10:20

I would also like to post my daily plans as would definitely make me wary of cheating. Although I have noticed I seem to snack loads more than you do. Crunchie & lillibet do you really not eat between meals ?!

Tues - Green - At home (as opposed to at work)
Breakfast - fruit salad and yoghurt
Snack - apple, 2 babybel
Lunch - sin free chips, 2 poached eggs & baked beans with grilled mush & tomato
Snack while cooking kids tea - piece of cheese (28g, pasta tortilla chips
Supper - Waitrose veg curry (0 sins) with rice, strawberry yogurt (frozen)
Snacks in front of telly - cherries, mini crunchie (4 sins)

When I write it down seems like so much food. Do I really eat all that ?!

winnie1 · 16/07/2003 10:20

I've lost 2lbs this week

lilibet · 16/07/2003 12:23

Well done winnie!
It wasn't actually a typical day for me yesterday, the five satsumas were spread thru the day and I was at work so didin't have access to any other food. when I got in I had an hour to make teas and get out, as I said when I got in I was starving but as its shopping day today not much to snack on at home.

Crunchie · 16/07/2003 19:50

winnie1 I tend not ot snack at work. I started SW back in Jan and one of the main resolutions was no snacking at work. I am sure this helps me, and I have spent months turning down everything form Thorntons chocs to cakes and biscuits. I do take a couple of bits of fruit to work in case. However this week is not normal for me, my company have just bought a new magazine and I have been promoted to ad manager on it. This means I have 4 days to sell a months worth of adverts!! I have barely left my desk to pee let alone anything else. Even my boss has been making my tea (which I drink black so no counting that!)

Also if you look I have 4 meals a day! One as soon as I get home (jkt potato monday, cauliflower/dip tues) which lasts me until 8.30 or so until supper! I know from experience that the minute I leave work I am starving so I always have a mini/big meal immediately!

Today I have had
Breakfast
Yoghurt porrige mix
Lunch
SW quiche and salad
Tea
Apple and banana
Supper
Riso Gallo Risotto with extra veggies to bulk it up. Yes I will be eating the whole packet as it's free.
1 glass wine (5 sins)

I often don't use my A/B choices which is bad, but I know they are there in case of emergencies!! On green days I don't feel the need for extra fibre, I don't eat meat and I get a load of dairy with 1/2 a huge tub of yoghurt (500ml tub)

Anyway off to stuff my face with my risotto, the kids are asleep so I can enjoy it in peace!

kid · 16/07/2003 20:05

I am going to start SW (online) from friday. I'm going shopping tomorrow so I will stock up on lots if sin free goodies!
I am going on holiday in 2 weeks maybe I should have started weeks ago? Better late than never and I will carry on with it after I get back.
Will let you know how get on.

lilibet · 16/07/2003 20:53

Hello kid! Have you done it before? So far today:-
Breakfast, youghurt and banana
Lunch, other half of yesterdays couscous salad
Tea, enormous jacket with loads of cottage cheese.
Just back from shopping so I am going to make the tortillas now and some SW quiche for lunches.
I'm the same as crunchie, very rarely eat my A's and B's and drink fruit teas all the time, gave up coffee after doing the Carol Voderman detox and have never liked 'proper' tea.

lilibet · 16/07/2003 21:09

forgot to add, had no exercise yet again and I had a rocket ice lolly at lunchtime! but I did turn down a cornetto and felt veery virtuous

winnie1 · 17/07/2003 09:07

What I love about the SW diet is that it is for people who love food. A friend flicked through my copy of the latest magazine and said 'I do not believe you caneat all of that and loose weight.' But you can.

I am feeling virtuous because I have increased the number of times I do yoga a week and I have begun an aerobic exercise routine this week too.

Although one can eat anything on the SW diet (within its guidelines)do other people have food they dare not eat because they just won't stop? Mine is bread. If I have it I have to limit myself to one 57g portion a day... otherwise I could eat entire loaf.
