Found it it's here

kayleigh · 05/07/2003 12:04

I weighed myself today and have lost 2 pounds now i'm back on the s/w plan. I am really pleased I have lost but it will still be another 6-8 weeks till I am back where I was. I am so annoyed with myself for putting the weight back on.

lilibet · 05/07/2003 19:57

At least you are heading in the right direction now. How did Girly go on?

Girly · 06/07/2003 10:11

Hi again, not due to be weighed til my next class which is on a Tuesday evening, but will be in hospital then. Will miss the next class aswell as am away on holiday for a few days so hopefully will have a nice weigh in when i get back.

Girly, hope all goes well for your operation. If anyone gets you chocolates while you are in there give them straight to the nurses. And if anyone asks you if you want anything tell them you are craving some nice fresh summer fruits !

lilibet · 06/07/2003 18:10

Yes, good luck Girly, hope you soon feel fine and that a gall bladder weighs at least a stone!

luchar · 07/07/2003 14:02

Hi everyone. I started Slimming World at the end of last year and lost a stone fairly easily. Then lots of stuff happened, got made redundant, got new job, left old job, started new job etc and basically have maintained for the past four months. I have not stuck to the plan rigidly and did lose my motivation, however, am very pleased to know I can maintain for so long and still be picking, having sins etc. What I need to do now is lose another two stone. I stopped going to class 3 weeks ago as basically found it an expensive way to get weighed when maintaining (but am a bit peed off that the consultant hasn’t even phoned me to see why I haven’t gone!!!). What I thought I would do instead is keep on with the plan and try instead to get some exercise on the same night. I will do my own weigh in. I tend to have red weekends, Tuesdays and Thursdays and green on Mon, Weds and Fri and will keep up with that as I find it’s easier to plan that way. I had thought I might return to class after I have lost another half stone but feel I need to get my motivation back first and go back on a slimmer, more positive note.

My class was on a Tuesday evening but for this I think I will start on a Monday morning so can finish off the sins at the weekend! So, here goes - last week I think I lost a pound (scales a bit dodgy – did best of three!), and next week would like to lose two. Any motivational thoughts would be very welcome! Good luck everyone! Will post again next Monday morning…

Girly · 07/07/2003 17:33

Oooh goody! Another to the list, welcome luchar

yes welcome from me too luchar. Glad you said about the pasting from word - I couldn't work out why you were swearing in the middle of your post : )
Does anyone have an alternative suggestion for lunch to take into work on a red day. i am sooo fed up with chicken salad/prawn salad/tuna salad etc. Apart from sandwiches obviously !

Crunchie · 08/07/2003 09:44

Have you tried SW quiche for red day lunches?? You can do loads of flavours, but I think a popular one is corned beef. Get a can of sin-free corned beef, mush it up a bit and squash it in the base of a quiche dish. Then get 4 eggs, 8oz of cottage cheese and mix them, add free veggies like mushrooms or whatever, and pour onto of beef base, slice tomatos ontop to look pretty. Cook for about 35mins in about No5 ish just wait until golden and set. Slices of this are good apparently. You could also do tuna versions, or sausage, sliced sausage in the cottage cheese/egg mix etc.

I do green days only, so otherwise I can't help much. I have pasta salad, cous cous salad, quiche and salad, bean salad, salad and salad!

kayleigh · 08/07/2003 10:59

Thanks a lot Crunchie. Will have a go at the weekend. Is it ok to freeze ?

ghengis · 08/07/2003 11:10

Try doing the same quiche as Crunchie but mixe the corned beef with a little chopped onion first - yum!

kayleigh · 08/07/2003 11:13

genghis, I may be being a bit thick, but do i need to fry the onion over first ?

lilibet · 08/07/2003 12:16

I made the green version of the quiche that crunchie told us about lower down, and was surprised at how nice it was, and how much it made. And yes it did look like vomit! Pasta salad for lunch today and mushroon risotto for tea, what's everyone else having?. I'm green days only too.

ghengis · 08/07/2003 12:22

SOrry, yes. You need to soften the onion first in some fry light and add the corned beef (again, just to soften it). Then mould it into the quiche dish as you would pastry. Then add the filling. It just gives it a bit more flavour.

www.granga.force9.co.uk/

Try this website, sorry I can't do links!

kayleigh · 08/07/2003 13:59

ooh lilibet good site. i am hoping and praying the tortilla chip recipe tastes good. I always feel left out when dh opens one of those great big packs of tortilla chips and i'm sat there with my weenie pack of whatever (usually boots shaper crisps or skips).

Thanks for clearing that up ghengis - i'm glad I asked !

StripyMouse · 08/07/2003 14:31

Mmmm - love the sound of this quiche. I was on the Slimming World diet before getting pregnant and have sort of kept going with it but have struggled with the cravings side of things!! This thread has got me all determined to get healthy again and I will dig out my old magazines and recipe books tonight..

What I love about the slimming world diet is that it is genuinely varied and filling and feels more like a plausable lifestyle diet rather than a quick fix. I have done the Atkins (and it does work), have tried various other schemes but all have felt like temporary changes until I reach my goal and then straight back to the ice cream tub. It is also the only weight loss diet I know to be officially approved by some Midwives association (can?t remember the official title) when pregnant.
I reckon the red days work better for general weight loss for me but personally love the green days - full of pasta, risotto, new potatoes and salad...yum. I won?t go to the classes - too shy and embarrassed - but will try to get back on track and improve the whole familie?s eating with more veg and fruit, less double deckers and buttons - worth a go!

kayleigh · 08/07/2003 14:40

Hi StripyMouse and welcome. This thread is really keeping me on the straight and narrow. I think it's actually better than a class because you can "attend" more than once a week ! Am just off to wash some cherries to eat at my desk

Furball · 08/07/2003 14:50

Lost another 1 lb at yesterdays weigh in. only another 17 ish to go! I'm on green today just had two huge jacket potatoes with a whole tub of cottage cheese, Sainsburys mango and pineapple is really nice. I'm doing vegetable lasagne (sweet potato, carrot, brocolli, cauliflower, mushrooms, tin of tomatos with garlic and onionfor tea. I say vegetable, I put my quota of b option minced beef in, just to bulk it out and top it with a tin of macaroni cheese, hows that for a free lunch?

Thanks to lilibet for the web site, loads of different receipes, all welcome!

kayleigh · 08/07/2003 15:10

Congratulations on your loss Furball
Your lasagne recipe sounds good. Do you have a fuller version with some quantities ? I am really bad at making things without receipes. I am so envious of these people who can put in a bit of this and a bit of that and make up their own dishes.

ghengis · 08/07/2003 15:40

I find the red days better for reducing bloating or inch-loss but green better for shifting lbs. Anyone else found this?

Furball · 08/07/2003 15:50

I too am also am cr@p in the kitchen, but this one is quite easy, obviously if I'm cooking it.

Right, he goes - This is my own concoction.

I make enough for two (Dh is also subjected to my diet)

I use a small loaf tin, it just happened to be in the kitchen cupboard, but is about an inch bigger all round than the lasagne sheet.

Boil for 8-10 mins,2 peeled chopped carrots, 1/2 a peeled diced sweet potato, a few sprigs of broccoli and cauliflower.

Fry up your quota of minced beef (from healthy extras) (x2 in my case)

Meanwhile (this is technical) open a big tin of tomatoes with added garlic. When the veg are cooked add a couple of chopped mushrooms and the cooked mince.

Cover the bottom of the loaf tin with a thin layer of tomatoes, add a lasagne sheet and some of the veg mix. add another thin layer of tomatoes, a lasagne sheet and veg. when you have finished layering add another lasagne sheet, open a big tin of low fat macaroni cheese and put that on top. Cook in the oven (200 oC ish) for 30 mins.

lilibet · 08/07/2003 15:54

Can I come for tea furball?

Where i am struggling is where I always struggle on a diet, that hour or two between getting in from school and making tea. On a bad day, before SW, I could easily get thru 5 or six slices of bread and butter. What nibbles do others eat, I do like fruit and veg but yearn for a nix quick easy 'fix' of something else.
