deegward · 17/07/2003 09:20

Put on 1/2 a lb last night. Booo. Thought I had been good last week, but you know what thought did!

Going to be extra good this week. Red day today

Had a muller lite yoghurt for breakfast!

lilibet · 17/07/2003 10:29

Can any one give me a quick answer?
H0w many sins in a buttered fruit scone?

Boe · 17/07/2003 10:35

Started last night - have to lose 11lbs - the lady said that should be easy and everyone there had lost loads was v.impressed.

Just not sure what to eat today - have had a bag of carrot batons, 2 scotch pancakes, a small skinny latte and an apple - am still starving and this is more than I ever eat in a day - am on green day as have pasta for lunch and vegetable fajitas for my tea - think will go over on sins as love guacamole but am going to swim 40 lengths before I eat anything.

Is it mormal to just think constantly about food when you are on a diet - I never eat this much in a morning but think I could probably go out and eat and eat and eat at the moment???

Want a buttered scone now too - Drat!!

kayleigh · 17/07/2003 11:05

winnie1 well done, that's a really good loss. Deegward, don't worry. If you've been good it'll come off next week. Kid, welcome.

Wednesdays menu was Red day and I was at work:-

Breakfast - Fresh Fruit salad & yog
Snack - 1 apple, 1 nectarine
Lunch - cold meat, grated cheese (A) salad, dressing (2 sins), fromage frais, cherries
Snack - 1 apple, 1 nectarine, 1 banana
Supper - Beef casserole, jacket pot (B) & veg, yog
Snack in front of telly - mini crunchie (4 sins), lychees
Milk in tea - 1 sin
Daily sins 7

I have a humoungous appetite and eat loads of fruit through the day. I also nearly always eat my (a) and (b) options as when I was attending class my consultant really drummed in to us that we should eat these. And if someone is telling me to eat I am not going to disobey !

Winnie1, my "thing" is also bread. Especially the nice crusty loaves that are all soft inside. I hate walking past the bread section of supermarkets as the smell makes me want to scoff the lot. My poor kids and dh tend to suffer as i buy plain boring sandwich wholemeal or the occasional bog standard white loaf. I couldn't bear to have the other stuff in the house. Occasionally I will but a french loaf for them - but only if i'm going out and don't have to watch them it it - torture

Crunchie · 17/07/2003 20:08

Boe it is hard in the beginning, particuarly as you never have the 'right' food in the house. My only advice right now is to read the book carefully and look at all the free food (I highlighted what I liked eating as it helped me). Then look at the healthy extras and decide which you will have. To be honest I think that yes when you first start this diet all you think about is food, but after a while it becomes second nature and you can then eat what you like.

One thing, I would be careful, so far today scotch pancakes are sins, and the veggie fahitas have tortilla which are sins, without even looking at the gaucamole. Is the pasta sin free?? Sorry to sound critical, I am not (it's hard with the written word), but the people who find it the hardest are actually those that accidentally cheat! They don't realsie and then get dishartened easily.

Lillibet, you know if you don't know the sin value, you can't eat it!!

Lastly mydiet sheet for the day.

Breakfast and lunch as teh last two days!! I am nothing if not consistant and I make a huge quiche so I don't need to think for three days!
Supper
Jkt potato, baked beans, cottage cheese. Carrot batons, glass of wine.

Oh and I did snack yesterday I had an apple and a muller lite before bed!

lilibet · 17/07/2003 20:17

I didn't eat it, I gave it to someone thinner! So today:-
Breakfast, as yesterday
Lunch SW quiche and salad
Tea, was supposed to be Delia's oven roasted ratatouille and couscous, but it only got half eaten and binned as I had a sulking session!! (see the 'sad and stupid' thread) I do have half left for tomorrow tho'.

Boe, I took a week to start the diet, I ate up some stuff and started the meals gradually, while reading allI could about it then declared a starting day when I would be strictly SW green. Its my second weigh in tomorrow.

Deegward, is it a 'heavy week' for you? Just before I come on I gain 2/3 lbs so perhaps you have really lost a bit and it will show when all the horrid bloaty stuff has gone?

lilibet · 17/07/2003 20:22

And once again no exercise whatsoever!

deegward · 18/07/2003 09:24

Oh Lilibet I wish I had that excuse, but no. I think I was underestimatinhg the number of sins I had had so I'm doing an open diet sheet this week to see if that helps.

Had a red day yesterday;

Breakfast- Mullerlite yog, apple
Lunch - sausage (free), egg, bacon, mushroom
Snack - snack sized milky way (3.5)
Tea - Chicken stir fry, melon & strawberries
Treat - Cadbury buttons (4)

Going out tonight, so am on a green day, and have 2.5 sins left over from yesterday
so far today have had

2 rich teas (4)
Bowl of sultana bran (b)

So wish me luck for tonight as this is the first time I have been out without hubby whilst on plan

lilibet · 18/07/2003 12:13

Lost 2lb this week and feel that my skirts are less tight, I wouldn't go so far as slack yet!

kayleigh · 18/07/2003 12:53

well done Lillibet, don't you find that once you start noticing the loss it gives you a bit more motivation to keep at it. I find the best motivation is when others start to notice too.

here is thursdays menu- never seem to have time to post in the evenings. It was a red day and I was at work.

Breakfast - Fresh Fruit salad & yog
Snack - 1 apple, 1 nectarine, 1 banana
Lunch - tuna & hard boiled egg salad, dressing (2 sins), fromage frais
Snack - 1 apple, 1 nectarine, 1 banana. Pack Fruitensse sweets (2 sins)
Supper - sausages (sin free)& salad, mustard (1 sin) yog
Snack in front of telly - 2 babybel(A) HiFi bar(B)
Milk in tea - 1 sin
Daily sins 6

Weigh in tomorrow morning, although my period is due and as I also tend to not lose/gain on these weeks so am not expecting too much.

kid · 18/07/2003 12:53

lilibet, I have done sw once before, I lost 18lb but then fell pregnant with ds, I haven't managed to loose all the weight yet.
Good start to the diet today, so far had egg sandwich and tea and coffee. Getting hungry now so will have some ryvita's. I need to write out a menu so I know what day I am having and what snacks I can have. I tend to pick at food in the evenings. Could always do my mountain of ironing to get exercise and keep me busy!
I also tend to weigh myself more than once a week so I am trying to avoid the scales till next friday.

winnie1 · 18/07/2003 15:34

Well done lilibet!

I've had a bad bad day today. I am at home with the children and dd went out at 10.30 to buy herself a take out breakfast from the local coffee bar and brought me a piece of Carrot and ginger cake! (Which was sweet so I ate it ~ it was delicious ~ now feel terribly guilty) Must do better tomorrow!

winnie1 · 18/07/2003 15:54

Realise that to write I'I have had a bad, bad day today' linked to dieting is pretty pathetic especially after reading of others real problems on these boards. Tomorrow is another day and it is only a diet after all!

kayleigh · 18/07/2003 16:03

winnie1, everything is relative. And really you haven't been THAT bad. Just put the cake behind you and carry on. Count it as 20 sins or something and then just cut down on sins on next few days to allow for it. Just try not to let it throw you off course.

kid, I also weigh myself more than once a week (actually it is every day). But I know how my weight fluctuates and at the moment am only taking notice of my saturday morning weight. I wish I could stop but I can't. I get quite manic on holiday when I can't get near any scales. I guess it's a hang-up from years of yo-yo dieting. Still there are worse obsessions. Aren't there ?!

Boe · 18/07/2003 16:16

Have done ultra crap but only started on Wednesday night - I am going to put it all behind me as soon as I have been taken out for a slap up dinner tonight and on Saturday am going to go shopping and buy myself all of the stuff I need to stick to it from Sunday onwards.

I suppose I shoul dhave been a bit more prepared!!

kayleigh · 18/07/2003 16:29

Boe, you do need to plan ahead to stick to it. Once you have been shopping with the diet in mind you'll be fine. Enjoy your meal tonight.

Crunchie · 18/07/2003 17:11

That is so true Kayleigh, you do need to plan.

Winnie1 allowing that cake as sins is such a good idea since it helps avoid those feelings of guilt which I think are the dieters enemy. So often if someone has one laspe they feel so guilty that they pig out more and it spirals. Cut back on a few sins a day and the cake won't matter.

Today I have been good again, but I am planning for my birthday on Monday!! I need at least 50 sins!!

lilibet · 18/07/2003 20:09

ok, pretty boring day food wise!
Breakfast, same as yesterday
Lunch, same as yesterday
Tea, delias oven roasted ratatouille with loads of pasta

BUT ITS THE WEEKEND!!!!!

so I am at the moment drinking a g and t, I shall soon be having half a bottle of wine and finishing off with a large whiskey!!

YIPEE! YIPEE! YIPEE!

and I walked 2 miles in 30 minutes today!

lilibet · 18/07/2003 22:42

Tip to all - if you make the tortillas and you dont have any cajun spices GO LIGHTLY ON THe CAYENNE PEPPER!!!!!!!!

I have had to drink an extra half bottle of white to take the burn away!

Girly · 19/07/2003 16:09

Have been a BAD girly, been away for a few days and diet went out of the window completely. I won't tell you all what i ate, but it was only for 4 days so am back on with a vengance!

Anyone know how many sins in Ben & Jerry's Choc fudge cake ice cream?

All red days till weigh in on Tuesday!

today have had eggs, bacon and mushrooms
nectarine and yoghurt so far, tonight its BBQ and salad and no booze!

OP posts:
kayleigh · 19/07/2003 17:25

LOL Lillibet ! Bet that made your eyes water !!

I am over the moon as I lost a pound when i weighed myself this morning. My period is due (with a vengence judging by my black mood) and I thought I would gain, or if i was lucky stay the same.

Friday was another red day and I was at work.

Breakfast - Fresh Fruit salad & yog (AGAIN!!)
Snack - 2 apples, 1 nectarine
Lunch - cold sausage (sin free) & ham salad, salad, dressing (2 sins), yog, cherries
Snack - Cheese Sandwich (A)+(B), nectarine
Supper - Waitrose chicken in black bean sauce (sin free)+ loads of veg, mueller choc yog
Snack in front of telly - Hi-Fi bar (B) mini crunchie (4 sins)
Milk in tea - 1
Daily sins 7

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

kid · 20/07/2003 14:18

I thought I was going to be able to stick to my diet no problem, but I ain't doing so good
On Friday, dh wanted chinese take away, as it meant I wouldn't have to cook I agreed!
I wasn't too bad as I only had veg curry and rice, and as I had only had fruit for lunch I figured I didn't have too many sins.
Saturday I kept snacking on yhogurts and mini kitkats! But for dinner dh had pizza, I was strong willed and had a tin of veg curry (yuk!) and plain rce. I couldn't eat all of it though!
Today I had 2 slices toast for breakfast and 1 1/2 cheese sandwich for lunch with a kitkat for afters!
I remember from when I did this diet before that as you don't go without food, you don't feel hungry therefore it doesn't actually feel like a diet! Maybe thats why I feel like I am eating too much?!
dh goes back to work tomorrow so I will be able to follow my diet plan better.
As for those kitkats in the fridge, I wish the kids and dh would eat them all instead of me

lilibet · 20/07/2003 17:21

oh dear Kid. I think the best thing to do is what you say, not give up altogether just look upon tomorrrow as a fresh start.
Yesterday I had
Breakfast, same as usual
Lunch, quiche and salad
Tea, gallo tonato risotto with loads of veg.
During the day I ate a full punnet of plums, and drank a g and t, half a bottle of wine and no whiskey! Didn;t have any the night before either as I fell asleep before we got to it.
Today
Same breakfast, (does anyone else find that a breakfast is the hardest meal to vary?)
Rice salad for lunch
and just cooking is vegetables in a white sauce from the SW website to be served with pasta.
I have had no exercise at all but shall be drinking lots of wine later!!
Hope you have all had really good weekends.

Girly · 20/07/2003 17:40

Could not wait till class on Tuesday and have weighed myself for the 1st time since starting and have lost 6 pounds!!!!!! over the last 2 weeks! hooray
