I was wondering the same deegward! I have been moving house and this is my first night with internet back. All is not well on the diet front tho', I slipped a lot with the move and the holiday that I wanted to loose all the weight for is now one week away. I have maintained my weight so I still have the same 7lb loss. You have done so well, bet you're really proud of yourself. I am making a last ditch effort now and have eaten all green frees today, if I could loose another couple of pounds before next Tuesday I would feel a lot better about going away.
How do others manage on holiday, do you go for the its a once a year treat and I am going to sod the diet, or are you good? I have considered taking my scales this year, but have decided that is far too sad!! I know that I will have two days sticking to it and then I will give up big time. The most I have ever put on while away is 10lbs(!!!)

winnie1 · 19/08/2003 08:41

lilibet and deegward you have done so well. Brilliant! Well done you! Personally, I feel that I am stuck at the moment and am seriously considering going to a class nearby. I know it works (it HAS worked although I haven't had the weight loss I would have hoped). But I have a lot to loose (which will take some time) so loosing one week and maintaining the next is hardly the end of the world.

Furball · 19/08/2003 08:53

Congratulations deegward and lilibet! I too am celebrating (unfortunately only in cheer, not beer!!) as after a few weeks of stalemate I'm back on track and had a 2 1/2 lb loss this week, amazing since I had a huge chinese with wine earlier in the week and a few other naughties thrown in at the weekend for good measures!

Lilibet I too am off on holiday in a few weeks and have decided to 'have a break' whilst away but not to overdo it. Holidays are for enjoying in my eyes - not worrying about how many sins are in this or that, especially if eating out.

Girly · 19/08/2003 09:54

Hi everyone! I have been a bit busy lately so have not logged on much recently,am still losing, last week it was a pound, so far have lost 10lbs. Have reached a bit of a plateau and need to get going again. One good sign is that I have lost most of my pot belly and my clothes are looser.

It seems like we have all got a bit fed up with it all at the mo and need a kick up the backside to get us all motivated again

Well done all those who have lost! Kayleigh, did your week of all red days work?

OP posts:
kayleigh · 19/08/2003 10:28

Hi Girly,
I need a lot more than a kick up the backside. I have completely lost the plot
My week of reds went ok but then i had two evening meals out on the trot and just went off the rails. I could have made good choices but chose not to ! Since then I have been very pre mentrual and have eaten half my weight in chocolate. The scales are not being too kind at the moment and I am much too ashamed to post the damage .
Well done on your continued loss. Stick at it.

Girly · 19/08/2003 11:14

Oh Kayleigh, big hug to you! and a kick up the backside!! Sorry, I know how hard it is esp during/before your period, i crave choccie too.

Come on girl back on track! You CAN do it. Forget last weeks slip ups, whats done is done.

I have not been a good girly over the weekend either, had an enourmous bowl of Tiramisu that my neighbour made and really enjoyed it but am now paying the price, so its no sins for me this week.

Got my weigh in tonite and am NOT looking forward to it

luchar · 19/08/2003 11:45

Hi. Back again now! Put on 1lb on my holiday so not too bad at all. Started again yesterday! Got to be quick as catching up at work but hope you are all doing OK!! I am going to be very strict about my counting and cut down sins to 5 a day to see if that works. I don't really drink much so should be able to manage I hope!

deegward · 19/08/2003 18:43

Well as least we all seem to be back on track , no serious together we can do it. I am the worst culprit at having too many sins, and thinking I will get away with it, as weigh in is tomorrow, I now start to panic, don't have scales in the house so don't have an indication on how I am doing.

Anyway, well done to all, even if you have put on, you have at least posted on this site so you must be thinking about it at least. re holidays, go for it!!!

kid · 20/08/2003 23:12

Hi everyone
I'm back from my holiday. Had a lovely time and spoilt myself rotten with the food but what the hell, I only go away once a year. Weighed myself the day after I got back and I put on 5lb
I haven't been near the scales since even though I am usually an every day weigher.
I'm looking forward to loosing my weight now as there is no pressure on when I want to loose it by (ie: holiday)
My reasons for loosing weight are
1: I will be able to fit into more of my clothes

2: I will be able to pick up a size 10/12 clothes without the need to try them on

3: I won't have to worry about people asking me when the baby is due (if they did I would probably tell them a date!!!)

4: So I will feel comfy in whatever I'm wearing

I hope to be back on track in the very near future

deegward · 21/08/2003 13:11

Kid, well done, I think you have to enjoy your holidays, and if that includes eating and drinking well why not!

I'm sure you will get back on track, just think of those lovely little black dresses to wear at Christmas, if you only lose 1 pound a week ( which is nice and slow and achievable ) then by the beginning of December you will have lost 14lb= 1 stone . I think!!. Oh god, I've jsut realised that I had wanted to havel lost another stone and a half before Christmas, never mind I would settle for the stone.

Was weighed last night and got slimmer of the week, club ten, with a 3.5lb loss.

Lambchops · 21/08/2003 13:15

Joined Slimming World last night. Oh dear. I got a real shock and I am feeling really depressed about my weight. I am the worlds original yo-yo dieter and I am now heavier than I have ever been in my life! I am defeated before I have even started this time. I will try my best to stick with it and use mumsnet for support but I have managed to put on more than 4 1/2 stones in a year. Oh well, the only way is up or is it down?

Boe · 21/08/2003 13:18

I lost 1.5lb last night so was very chuffed - DP lost 3lb he was not quite so chuffed as I think after consuming 38 muller lights this wek instead of normal breakast he thought he would lose more.

We made a pact that we could go for a chinese each week if we both lost weight - I have to use nearly all of my sins to have chinese but I love it so now I have to be really good for rest of week.

Well done to everyone else.

deegward · 22/08/2003 15:11

Lambchops, don't feel bad, you've gones and you are doing something about it now. As I have said before with only a 1lb a week you can lose 1 stone before December starts !!!

Well done boe & dp.

kid · 22/08/2003 22:15

LAMBCHOPS- I think you should just think about 1/2 a stone to loose at a time that way it won't seem so far away. I am hoping to loose 2 stone but at the moment it feels like I will never reach it. I just started sw again (at home) after returning from holiday. I carried on pigging out until I weighed myself on wednesday and was almost onto the next stone. I decided there and then that there will be no more snacking! I can't wait to see those scales going down!

Crunchie · 26/08/2003 14:29

Hey I am back from holiday and OH MY GOD!! I didn't lose the extra vefore I left and now and 10lbs over target Ooops, big Oops.

Girly · 26/08/2003 16:25

I seem to have got stuck in a rut, not losing anything for almost 2 weeks, seem like an impossible task as i have another 2 stone to lose

OP posts:
Girly · 26/08/2003 20:10

Girly · 27/08/2003 09:09

Well done Kid, keep it up

OP posts:
Crunchie · 27/08/2003 13:58

Fantastic Kid and Girly!

It can be so hard if you reach a plateau and don't loose anything for a couple of weeks. Last time round I had this and had nearly a month of static or up and down, finally I gave myself a week to stop making excuses and just go for it. I looked at all my books again and marked all the 'speed' foods. I went shopping with this list in hand and ate melon until it was coming out of my ears (and baked beans!) However after one week I had lost 4lbs and it spurred me on to lost that last 7lbs (I nearly gave up just 10lbs from target). Try this if things are hard. One week, splash out on all the nice fruit/veg/seafood/chicken etc and see if it works.

deegward · 27/08/2003 21:23

Oh crunchie, having a bad week, weighed tonight and put on 1lb, I know deep down I hadn't been good. Came home and scoffed lots of white chocolate buttons, did n't even enjoy them. Had a heathly tea, but going to have to be extra good this week. Think I will write down when I have sins, cause I think I am am over sinning!

Anyhoo still have lost 1stone 3.5 lbs so not all bad, but still want at least another stone. Felt really stressed this week (bad time of month). Need to just get a grip

Lambchops · 28/08/2003 09:46

Oh dear! First week in....I expected my weight to go down with a thump and I only lost 3lb. However DH has lost 8lb.
So, back to the grindstone for another week.

Crunchie · 29/08/2003 17:32

Lambchops, 3lbs is good, please don't despair in another couple of weeks you will have lost over half a stone!! That means your first sticker! or goal. I certainly gave myself nice treats throughout my dieting time. Every half stone I bought a new nail varnish or lippy or something frivilous. Every stone meant a beauty treatment like a manicure or pedicure and my target meant a new pair of jeans!!

Rewards like this mean there is something to look forward to. Bear in mind I should really put those jeans away until I reach target again - that would be a massive incentive for me as I love them, hmmm if I find myself flagging I think I'll ask DH to hide them

Otherwise the best thing is to remember you are learning to adjust your palette to a new way of eating and it takes a long time to make it a habit. So what inspirational things can anyone come up with to keep us on he straight and narrow this weekend?? I think I am not going to allow myself to wear my best jeans (that will work for me!) And I am going to get organised that I have extra nice free food in the fridge

Crunchie · 31/08/2003 21:41

OK where is everyone???

Are you all too embarassed after a difficulat time to come on here and admit it, or are tehre jsutr dust balls blowing down the street??
