new thread for porky veggers trying to lose weight

have fun, be kind to each other, eat f+v, move around

see you in a bit

oh it is WEIGH IN DAY

you don't have to weigh in, but if you want to, this is the day

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 21/04/2010 19:51

i like the flip flops

OP posts:
pointydog · 21/04/2010 19:53

ah, ok.

Must admit, I was surprised how a few pounds seemed to come off all at once after over a week of eating much much less. Maybe this will happen with you, els

Guadalupe · 21/04/2010 20:39

Yes, you ninny, of course your period affects your weight! I could be pounds more around that time. You probably have water retention. Also, you will feel more emotional about having to eat less and then WORSE when you think you have put it on. Keeo going.

How can Franny see the flip flops? I will try again.

Guadalupe · 21/04/2010 20:44

I agree, pointy, when you actually check labels, it is amazing how many more calories there are in things that you thought.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/04/2010 21:07

I could see the flipflops. Do they really work?

Are you weighing yourself at the same time of day? That makes a difference.

V small portion of porridge with dried fruit.
Rocket salad, hummus, carrot falafel and cucumber sticks.
grapes
flapjack
Spag bol - heavy on the tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, celery and carrots.

About 7 portions I think.

I went shopping this afternoon so the f&v intake should improve.

CoupleofKooks · 21/04/2010 22:39

half a bag of crisps left over from party
i feel a bit bloated actually
too many potato products

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 22/04/2010 07:29

Oh yes, I can see the flips flops now. They are not to my taste but then I like backache inducing and heel of foot aching dead flat ones.

Well apparently I weigh nothing today. 0.0. I assume the batteries must be going or something.

CoupleofKooks · 22/04/2010 08:21

well i have put on 2 lb, probably potato based
i didn't even eat that much yesterday
why are we all weighing ourselves every day? it doesn't seem to be helping, does it

no, its not great, but I can't seem to help myself.

maybe I have put on 2 lbs too and my scales are saving me from it by running out of battery!

I have my official intercallation letter from UEA and I can officially do no work until september. . Not that I've been doing any anyway.

Guadalupe · 22/04/2010 09:08

Avi - there are loads of nice places. Southwold/Walberswick/Aldburgh coastline is lovely in Suffolk and in North Norfolk, it's nice along Wells/Cley/Blakeney.

Not all sandy beaches though, what are you looking for? I have to go out but will be back this afternoon.

CoupleofKooks · 22/04/2010 09:21

avi i like all of suffolk really
southwold is still so nice imo although more popular these days
walberswick is such a good spot
and we particularly like woodbridge and have stayed there many times - anywhere round there is a good base and then you can travel about if you like?
there's loads of good things like sutton hoo and nature reserves - good birding, lots of nice places to eat in both woodbridge, and southwold, and walberswick has probably the best pub i've ever eaten in
you can do boat trips and go up the lighthouse
the pier at southwold is always a larf
i don't know norfolk but people all rate wells don't they

OP posts:
elliemental · 22/04/2010 09:53

well you've sold it to me CoK!

I have very happy memories of Wells - is that where the swans are?

we're off to cornwall again [bounce bounce]in first week of July. So excited to be having a seaside holiday!

ok, today
Porridge
banana
3-bean and tomato soup (3 types, not just three beans - that'd be a bit pathetic...)
pineapple and melon
lots of water
herbal tea
one pitta with a scraping of flora and some honey.

tea will be spanish omelette (peas, onion, courgette) with salad (and maybe a couple of delicious baby new potatoes. Tiny ones.)

littlerach · 22/04/2010 16:57

I love Suffolk, we are going there again this year.

dds like crabbing ta Walberswick and there is a v nice pub there for food.

Woodbridge is beautiful.

Sutton Hoo was great.

Love it all

Lemur sent me a fab breakdown of all th eplaces to go to there.

pointydog · 22/04/2010 18:05

one weetabix and milk
glass oj
banana
3 meatballs in tomato sauce, spaghetti, carrots and peas (small portion)
about to have 2 boiled eggs and one slice toast for tea

Need to go out and buy more fruit

CoupleofKooks · 22/04/2010 18:56

aaargh i didn't take enough food with me for the day so came home hungry and eating emergency chocolate in bag
now have had dinner but still hungry and eaten more chocolate and can see it is going to be hard to stop

i may go for a run but i am full of chocolate
hmm

am meant to be going out but can't find way to wing it with the boys and their funny sleep atm, i would have to take ds2 with me, awake - not my idea of a fun social evening

did lots of walking today though and haven't yet blown the healthy eating - but chocolate must stop now

CoupleofKooks · 22/04/2010 18:59

oh we picnicked with other families and a woman i don't know v well said "i don't know how you stay so slim" but

"as you have not stopped eating since we got here" and

OP posts:
pointydog · 22/04/2010 20:57

but you need to eat constantly, coK, in order to neck all that fruit and veg you get through in a day

CoupleofKooks · 22/04/2010 22:11

indeed!

right have been out swishing
was v good but omg there was some pouncing for the good stuff
i got my hands on a v nice dress but when i tried it on it was too big so put it back - meanwhile everything nice had vanished
there was a lovely boden dress about 10 people tried to snatch it! i got a nice fatface top in the end, it is plain but i like plain tops and it's a cute shape
there were some lovely jeans i missed getting

i have eaten:

cereal, melon, pear, banana, raisins = 4
cheese and pickle sandwich, quorn sandwich
cheese oat crisps
green and blacks
risotto with peas, asparagus and cheese (this was the frozen one that you stick in the frying pan, from waitrose, was pretty good)
red cabbage, carrots, sweetcorn = 3
montezumas
2 satsumas = 1
wedge of cheese

walked for about 45 mins trying to get ds2 to sleep after swishing
and about 2.5 miles earlier in day going to woods and back

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 23/04/2010 06:11

oooh swishing sounds fun

I don't think I have been to Suffolk, and it really isn't far from here. Might take look in the summer.

dd2 is feeding every 1-2 hours through the night. I think she is too busy during the day to get enough in and then too tired at night to take a decent feed in one go. I have no idea how to break the cycle without leaving her to cry. It is NOT condusive to healthy eating and/or excercise.

Have already had breakfast of granola and dried fruit (2)

ThePinkOne · 23/04/2010 07:35

I was supposed to run last night but I got an awful headache with flashing lights and feeling sick and went to bed at 7 It was horrid cause we didn't have any pain killers so I swigged some calpol and rang DH to get some on the way home but he was still an hour and a half away and I had to get the DC to bed. I managed to feed DS and put him in bed clothed and DD got her own pjs on! DH rescued everything when he got back

Anywho, been having a better food week so fingers crossed for weigh in on Monday.

Guadalupe · 23/04/2010 08:07

Oh no, pink, that sounds terrible. Do you suffer from Migraines normally? Hope you feel better.

What everyone else said about Suffolk. It is very nice. Propbably better for you hust for a few days, Avi, it will take that much longer to get to N Norfolk.

Now I am 17 stone. I must get some batteries.

I went to see David Hare play, Skylight, last night and I hadn't had much dinner and she cooked tomato pasta with garlic bread and I was STARVING. For two pins I could have jumped on the stage and wolfed the lot. I refrained and clapped politely.

CoupleofKooks · 23/04/2010 09:19

LOL at wanting the stage food guad

pink that is horrid, FWIW i never get migraines but just before christmas when i was really tired and stressed i had a nasty one
i haven't had one since
just in case you are worried this means you will now get them all the time, there is no reason that you will

tiger that is hard work
i think a lot of them do it as they naturally wake a little every 1.5 hours and then just need a little comfort to get back to sleep
i bet she'll start going longer periods again soon but meanwhile that's very tough for you
