For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg
here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

the jury are still out as to exactly how many portions an innocent smoothie contains and i think the general consensus was that humzingers don't count but otherwise...come one come all!!!

alrighty then!!!!!

an hour, yes a whole hour, of davina. i have a new dvd and everything. dd2 is thrilled, she loves 'vina.
walked at least a mile if not 2 with heavy shopping.

so i think i can put a nice big tick on the "e" front.

and so on to the fuh and the vuh...

watercress
melon
pineapple

oh crap

BUT i intend to eat an apple and a banana and for tea will have many tomatoes with onion and lettuce...

i have promised many recipes which i'm yet to deliver, but just to whet the appetite i will start with croissants very healthy and extremely non-fattening bread products...

OP posts:
MayorNaze · 02/02/2010 13:50

very healthy not at all fattening croissants

450g bread flour
2 tsps salt
25g lard
25g yeast
1 beaten egg
150g butter

for glaze - 1 beaten egg, 10ml water and 1/2 spoon sugar

sift together flour and salt and rub in the lard. blend yeast in water and add this and beaten egg to mixture and mix until a soft dough.
turn onto floured surface and knead til smooth.
soften butter and divide into 3
roll dough into square about 0.5cm thick.
dot 1 lot of butter evenly over 2/3 of dough
fold dough into 3 folding unbuttered side over first.
roll flat again.
repeat with rest of butter.
roll, fold and flatten again 3 more times wthout butter.
chill for hour.
roll into rectangle, cut lngthways in half.
cut each half into triangles.
paint with glaze.
roll up.
rest for 30 mins.
glaze.
bake for 20 mins at 230c or as hot as your oven will go (mine only goes up to 225)

et voila

is easier with diagrams to show triangles etc but you get the jist...

Hi! I managed 30 mins cardio on eye toy while ds was asleep and dd was at pre-school. Well ds was awake for the last 10 mins and watching me. He may be permanently warped but he seemed to find it funny at the time

I'm being rubbish at food lately. How can I give myself a kick up the bum? The children eat all the fruit - that's half the problem!

Congrats avi on the house sale. Everything happens for a reason, and you'll find it;s the right thing!

ps mayor I think you've left the link out of the OP

hey look at this new smiley!!!!!!

TigerFeet · 02/02/2010 16:46

I need a kick up the bum

am putting on weight hand over fist, no mean feat when one is bfing a big hungry 19 weeker

i will admit to struggling with food a bit atm, constant carb craving, grazing all day and so forth

am tired and sluggish, the only exercise i can feasibly do atm is walking but the weather seems permanently foul atm

i know what i need to do but can't make myself do it

come and bring me cake tell me off

SuperBunny · 02/02/2010 19:03

lol @ OP

marmite sandwiches (cheap white sliced bread )

SuperBunny · 02/02/2010 19:05

SuperBunny · 02/02/2010 22:06

I just watched 'Mo' and am blubbing terribly. I didn't expect it to be so sad

MayorNaze · 03/02/2010 13:50

this is the title...ok so not that good really but had the song stuck in my head for ages.

does anyone else think that katy on i can cook makes up those songs with her guitar on the spot? surely no sensible scrpt would contain them...

innocent lunch curry pot thing that DOES contain 3 portions
cranberries
apple
banana

and have sprouts carrots sweetcorn, parsnips and peas for tea. and did 45 mins of davina. bloody hell she is a slave driver i thought i might pass out from extertion...

dentist later...with all 3 dcs...wish me luck...

Pink - do your children like ALL fruit or only some? i just buy fruit they don't like (which isn't hard actually, they are fussy lttle beggars ). isn't f&v expensive though ? i can easily spend £6+ per day on f&v and it all gets eaten far too quick

I need you help, veggers:

DS's father is coming to visit at Easter. He hasn't seen DS since July, so 9 months. And he wants to come, meet DS in London and take him to Yorkshire for 2 weeks.

I have agreed that DS can go with ex to Yorks (even though I desperately don't want DS to go). However, I think ex should come here and get to know DS a bit first. 9 months is quite a long time to a 4 yr old and things have changed a lot. Yet ex won't agree. What to do?

SuperBunny · 03/02/2010 19:24

your help.

Please

MayorNaze · 03/02/2010 19:53

oh sweetheart what a shitty situation

if you are not happy to let him go for 2 weeks - renegotiate.that's an awfully long time anyway, let alone with someone he has not seen for 9 months v reasonable to expect ex to get to know ds again beforehand. what does ds think of it?

{{{{{{}}}}}}

OP posts:
MayorNaze · 03/02/2010 19:54

be firm - no reaccquanting - no trip to yorks. how much contact with your ex (phonecalls etc) has he had?

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 03/02/2010 20:00

I can't stop him going to yorkshire. I don't think I really want to, DS will have a lovely time. I am just being selfish. I just don't want it to be for so long and definitely not without spending time together first. They will stay with ex's parents, and DS has seen them twice since october so is familair with them. He talks to his Dad several times a week on phone/ webcam.

I haven't told DS anything although his dad told him he was going to visit. DS is excited. I need to get a grip.

MayorNaze · 03/02/2010 20:02

it is rubbish

at least ds is happy about it though i can totally understand why you're not

so will he come and pick up ds and go straight off then? i'm sorry, i don't know your history

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 03/02/2010 20:07

I dont know. He wants me to take DS there but is a 6 hr journey and I suspect ex doesn't want to do that because it's inconvenient. And also, I just told him how car sick DS gets atm.

MayorNaze · 03/02/2010 20:09

that's a bit cheeky i'm assuming you don't drive a taxi...could outlaws come and get ds? maybe stay overnight with you? or is that out of the question? two weeks still seems a lot, esp if he's only 4

OP posts:
MayorNaze · 03/02/2010 20:16

sorry love i have to go but will check in tomorrow.

Thanks for your support Mayor. x

TigerFeet · 04/02/2010 18:29

oh bunny that sounds really difficult

could you meet half way and spend a couple of hours together without sticking a fork in xp's eye, just to set your mind at rest that ds will be OK?

i'm sure he will be, given that he talks to his dad a lot

i can understand your reservations though, it must be so hard to let him go

have another hug (())

we are having a chippy tea

ThePinkOne · 04/02/2010 20:37

Bunny. Sorry I wasn't on here yest. Feel like we deserted you! I think given that they talk lots and that DS has seen his grandparents a couple of times it should be ok going to stay and he'll be able to talk to you lots while he's there. I do think you need more than a quick handover in London though. Could you meet him London and all have a day (or even overnight) together? Can you bear it?! And would he agree? I think you need time to talk about routines, favourites, behaviour stuff. Hope he is reasonable about it.

Mayo, they eat (between them) pretty much all fruit and I let them keep trying anyway. DD has gone off prawns atm which is great More for us! I get mine from the market though when I can get into town. I got 8 pears for 50p last week and 2 punnets of blueberries for £1 (they were 2 for £3 asda ones but a day out of date!!) I can usually fill 2 shopping bags for under a tenner. Melons, mangoes, pineapples 50/60p. It's great!

Gosh, just thought that 2 weeks is really quite long Bunny. (((((fruity hugs)))))

So, end of the week. F&V intake not so hot! Although grapes, peas/sweetcorn/carrots (2), apple, apple juice, salad (2)

So even a crappy day at 7 is better than the normoes 5 No exercise yesterday or today. I went to the cafe while DD was at school and DS was asleep instead of the usual exercise and housework. I decided to treat myself! But I'm back on stickers on the calendar for exercise so I'm doing ok!

MayorNaze · 05/02/2010 20:04

dudes

hows it going Bunny bunbuns? hope you've managed to make arrangements that you are more comfortable with? loads of sympathy to you - ds and dd1 are actually dss and dsd and it can suck major ass having to accomodate absent parents, relatives etc

{{{{}}}}} slightly wine scented

Toot's internet is dodgy at the moment but she is well, i think

keep your rabbit ears up Bunny

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 05/02/2010 21:52

Thank you both for being so lovely. Is all so tricky and this is the one thing I hoped would never happen to DS. Anyway, ex still be a stubborn arse and refusing to meet D before he whisks him off to deepest darkest yorkshire so I am thinking.

Am knackered and have work stresses, house sale is due to complete next week and am premenstrual so am just a miserable bag of bitchiness. Sorry

SuperBunny · 05/02/2010 21:53

Oh, um, leeks.
