For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

We have finally had some snow.

It wasn't supposed to snow this far south this evening so I went out and swept the drive and path to the back door so that I wouldn't have to ice skate to the car in the morning. It's now fecking well snowing again and I'm buggered if I'm going out to sweep it again.

Does quinoa count?

Leeks
Mushrooms
Onion
Courgette
Tomato
OJ
raisins
banana

still a bit pants that, really, especially if I admit that there wasn't a full portion of each

oh well

i'll have an apple or something later

Glad MiniPink had a good day

SuperBunny · 07/01/2010 19:40

Good knews, Pink.

Sorry about the snow, Tiger. Was lovely here this afternoon - cold and snowy and icy but sunny and so pretty. I picked DS up from nursery early and took him to the beach. We paddled in the sea. Was lovely. So, hiking down and up an icy cliff path & running on sand counts as exercise, I think.

beetroot
peas, corn
watercress sausages
juice
broccoli

Oh, only five.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/01/2010 19:44

Paddled in the see???!!! You bunnies are a hardy bunch

blueberries
banana
satsuma
apple
grapes
cucumber
carrot
kidney beans
tomatoes
onions
mushrooms

probably about 7-8 portions in all.

lol at deep and crisp and even! I love pizza.

littlerach · 07/01/2010 20:51

You are mad, SB, taht must have been freezing

School tomorrow.
We'll see

Leek and potato soup.

Red peppers
yellow peppers
celery
tomatoes
carots
raisns

SuperBunny · 07/01/2010 21:01

We did have wellies on! And because the air temperature is so low, the water feels quite warm really.

Friend picked DS up from nursery yesterday so he could play with her DS all afternoon. I said I'd collect him from her at 4. When I arrived, she was giving them tea (at 3:30) and DS was tucking into cottage pie. I kept quiet but just as he finished, DS said, "Mummy, am I MEANT to eat meat?" at which point my friend went and apologised profusely for feeding my vegetarian son minced beef

MayorNaze · 08/01/2010 12:10

bonjour! everybody back at work and school today, except dd2 who was up all night coughing and sneezing. which meant i was also up all night and, at one point, catching her coughed up phlegm in her cupped hands

but she has perked up remarkably and is playing with toys in front of beebies. i have also promised her fishfingers and smiley faces a nice healthy lunch

so far:
banana

oops

but have done arseloads of cleaning and sorting for charity shop which = beaucoup de exercise in my book. and am just off to cook myself couscous with spinach, courgette and pinenuts yum yum yum

would anybody like a piano? seriously?

{{{{{{}}}}}}} all round

MayorNaze · 08/01/2010 12:10

that should've been my cupped hands. i am not that cruel...

MayorNaze · 08/01/2010 12:11

at SB's ds eating meat! were you upset?

SuperBunny · 08/01/2010 12:41

I would dearly love a piano, Mayor. My granny bought one for me when I was little, not long before she died but I had to sell it when I moved with bastard ex to the US and very . I desperately miss it.

But, I don't know how I would get it here or into my flat since my removal man (lovely BIL) has severed a tendon in his foot.

I am not cross about the meat, just a little miffed since a) I didn't know my friend was feeding DS, b) I didn't expect him to eat at 3:30 so had planned a nice dinner with him at home and c) she KNEW he's veggie. Oh well...

SuperBunny · 08/01/2010 12:42

Poor DD2. Hope she is ok. And that you have washed your hands The things we do as parents...

MollyRoger · 08/01/2010 16:11

I'm off to the panto tonight.
Oh yes I AM!

ThePinkOne · 09/01/2010 09:45

Oh no you're not!!

At cottage pie! Especially if she knew he was veggie. I guess she thought she was just being helpful.

Satsuma. Just the one.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/01/2010 19:32

Myabe your friend forgot about ds being veggie? My sister done the same to her friends dd and gave her a ham sandwich. When my sister realised she was mortified and apologised to her friend and her dd.

How was the panto Moll?

banana
apple
grapes
cucumber
salad leaves
bakes beans
blueberries
juice

I wonder if we'll get the 10cm of snow they have predicted

MayorNaze · 09/01/2010 19:36

evening all

what, more snow?! i am too young to remember snow that lasted this long!

satsumas
apple
banana
raisins
tomato
and hopefully root veg in the nice casserole that dh has hopefully cooked me. hopefully.

shame SB - piano would be yours if you could take it. any other takers?

SuperBunny · 09/01/2010 19:44

Yeah, friend just forgot

DS has been invited for a swine flu vaccination. He lived with me and my BIL when we both had it so has very definitley been exposed to it and hasn't caught it (yet)... is it reasonable to decline the offer?

MayorNaze · 09/01/2010 19:49

i am declining SF jab for dd2.

SuperBunny · 09/01/2010 20:30

Thanks Mayor. And for the piano offer, too. Hope you find it a good home.

littlerach · 10/01/2010 12:31

I would decline it.

I am being a Good Person and putting food out for birds.
So now we have rats
They have left ratty trails in the garden.
There is even a perfect outline of a rat in the snow.
And i took the food in at night.

we were forecsat snow but there hasn't been nay. It is v cloudy though....

TigerFeet · 10/01/2010 12:47

my girls are just either side of the age limit

but i would decline

god i would love a piano, really love one, but i don't have the space

have just had a mahoosive serving of broccoli and cauli soup, but suspect that i can only count it as one portion as it was blitzed

it has been raining here this morning

ice rink tomorrow methinks

SuperBunny · 10/01/2010 13:42

Right, I don't feel bad about declining SF vaccine. Thanks for helping.

Chickpea stew in slowcooker & bread and butter pudding for supper.

MayorNaze · 10/01/2010 15:14

at rats!!! eek! i am feeding birds but birds are not interested
i will be looking for rat tracks tomorrow...

lush time sledging this morning with dad, sis and ds seems to be thawing though

banana
leeks
sprouts
carrots
peas
brocolli

and have apple satsumas and grapes to eat.

i think sledging and climbing up a gurt massize hill counts as exercise, no?

SuperBunny · 10/01/2010 16:55

Sledging deffo counts!

I have been putting bread out but it never gets eaten. The pastry went though but I am not sure what ate that. Quite possibly rats.

Peppers (orange & yellow)
onions
raisins
juice

erm, 5?

MayorNaze · 10/01/2010 17:19

does anyone fancy doing some kind of uber-boost detoxy type thing? nothing daft or poncey, but maybe just a few more grains, a bit less caffeine, that sort of thing?

i know this sort of weather is not especially inspirational on the extra healthy front, but i am starting to feel a bit sluggish and ick...what do you think?

i am going to have no caffeine tomorrow, no alcohol til next weekend and go grain shopping tomorrow as i know they are good but not really sure what to get and how to eat them...

whaddya think?

ThePinkOne · 10/01/2010 20:27

I'm not sure about the swine flu jab. I tend to be a follower and do as I'm told but this makes me go cause I wouldn't give them the flu jab normally. But then if the whole thing gets worse and they've had it then I'd be grateful.

We had a rat living in our compost bin . The pest people had to come out before christmas. We've had to be putting the compost in the normal rubbish and I feel like I've been constantly emptying the bin!

littlerach · 11/01/2010 08:52

Pink, the Ratman who came here ( 2 yrs ago) told me that eco style living was the biggest contributor to rats

That was when he saw the compost, the pile of recycling and the bird table.

I am sure there is another ratty track this morning.

But, we did have a robin visit yesterday so that made me

It is starting to thaw here.
Slush and stuff.
