For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

I don't think I've ever heard of Magnum. I thought that Mayor was either going to see an ice-cream or Tom Selleck! I actaully quite fancy Tom Selleck {blush]

When I was a barmaid over 10 years ago Guiness was about 2.75 a pint, so it doesn't surprise me that it is now a fiver. My first alcoholic drink in a pub was a martini and lemonade, I thought I was so sophisticated!

banana
cucumber
grapes
olives
oj
onions

We went for a walk around the park and fed the ducks, then went to Pizza Express for dinner. Baby Lemur was on excellant form so a good time was had by all.

Hope ds tooth is better Moll.

MayorNaze · 15/11/2009 18:51

so it is normal for guiness to cost that much? dear god i will have to start brewing my own.

nice to see you Lemur

i love pizza express. dh has just texted to say there is cold pizza for tea. oddly enough i am not hugely excited at this thought...

MayorNaze · 15/11/2009 18:52

i had never heard of magnum before dh suggested it but i do like an awful lot of dad rock

just not magnum, seemingly!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/11/2009 19:00

dh is big dad rock fan. I'm always taking the piss out of him when he's buying some bloody Top Gear cd with rock on. But then again he takes the piss out of my R&B stuff!

We love Pizza Express too. Whichever branch you go into you know you will have a good meal at a good price and with good service.

Guiness has always been more than lager and bitter. When I pulled it I would always do a shamrock in the head. I thought I was dead clever

Put the pizza in the oven for about 8 minutes at 170 degress. It warms it up without over cooking it. Can you tell I reheat pizza a lot?

SuperBunny · 15/11/2009 19:02

I love cold pizza. In fact, my sister is having pizza express takeout tonight - 4 pizzas for 20pounds and is bringing one round for me so I can have it for my lunch tomorrow. Mmmmm

MayorNaze · 15/11/2009 19:26

cold pizza express pizza good. cold homemade pizza - good. cold crappy iceland special - not so good. will be using your tip Lemur! and if you could tell me how to do shamrocks, that wuold be great. years of barwork and i never pulled that one off!

how are you doing SB? have you had a good weekend?

mollyroger · 15/11/2009 19:52

I have huge soft spot for dad rock. Or any rock, reaLLY. I was mega-rock chick for, ooh at least a year, in my teens.
It's so funny as ds1 is disocvering rock for himself and keeps varying between ''wow mum, thanks for introducing me to guns and roses'' to ''Snuh! You're such a saddo. Bet you've never heard of Billy Talent....''

MayorNaze · 15/11/2009 19:57

oops - missed you there Tigerfeet! how did that happen! feel free to carry on letting magnum pass totally under your radar

FrayedKnot · 15/11/2009 20:33

Hello lovely veggers

SB I hope you are OK? 50 hours a week sounds an awful lot. What has happened?

Moll hope dS' tooth is less painful tonight, and you get an appt quickly. Poor thing.

I am proudly ignoring the cold pizza references. I luuuurrrrve cold pizza, but I am almost post-menstrual, and am donning my vegger hat with renewed vigour.

Exercise is a challenge though. I'm not getting to the gym for various reasons and it's too dark and cold to go for a run in the evenings. I am tentatively thinking lunchtime run at work but then it means taking loads of stuff with me and using the manky showers. But I have just bought a very slinky dress to waer to a Christmas party so need to be slinky underneath too.

  • stepped in.

I think I am just in shock - I had forgotten how hard teachers work and hadn't considered how possible it is to do as a single parent.

FrayedKnot · 16/11/2009 17:48

SB that sounds tough, hope you are OK.

I need to recommend something which I fear may not be the most veggerly of options since it contains sugar but OMG...

Forest Feast Coco Mango!!!

Little balls of coconut and mango with added sugar and milk

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 16/11/2009 18:28

Where would one purchase such sugary delights, FK?

mollyroger · 16/11/2009 18:53

sound fantatic terrible!

I need sweet loveliness; hard, hard day today. One of our service-users passed away at the weekend (natural causes) but because he was long-term mentally ill, his only next of kin is refusing kinship iyswim...he will have a council funeral
I had to ring his volunteer supporter and break the newS. he cried on the phone to me. Been close to tears most of the day

SuperBunny · 16/11/2009 19:14

Oh molly

mollyroger · 16/11/2009 19:20

Salad
Banana
Orange juice
apple
Cauliflour#
onion
Spimnach
potato
Mushroom
peppers

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/11/2009 19:32

Oh Moll. I'm so sorry. What an awful situation.

It seems so unfair that you have to take on all of that responsibility Bunny, is there anyone you can talk to about it?

banana
grapes
cucumber x2
peppers
humous
tomatoes
salad leaves
spinach

FrayedKnot · 16/11/2009 22:11

How sad Moll, I am sorry.

Said fruity snacks can be purchased in most supermarkets I believe. When I bought them I thought it would be bits of dried mango and coconut (same brand does other dried fruit mixes) so was somewhat bemused to open the packet and find these odd looking balls inside. But they really are moreish. I had to hastily tip them into my muesli mix so as not to trough the whole lot.

mollyroger · 17/11/2009 17:42

I might have to investigate those further FK...

the local sandwich bar does the most gooey apricot and almond flapjack. I am utterly addicted, even though one bit makes me feel slightly too full and sickly

So far today,
Apricot
apple
grapes
tangerine
beans
mango juice

hmm. must try harder

SuperBunny · 17/11/2009 21:38

banana
apple
juice
mushroom (on pizza. Cold pizza Express fyi )

MayorNaze · 18/11/2009 14:47

hello

sorry to hear that moll

gosh SB, that must be manic. surely they must be recruiting at least? you can see the thread now...AIBU to be annoyed that my dcs class is being taught by a TA, even if she is a mumsnetter hang in there lovey.

i'm sure you will all be interested to know that the aforementioned cold pizza was, in fact, dominos. which in theory i disapprove of. and it had meat on. the type of which i do not eat.

but i ate it anyway

satsumas
banana
apple
tomato

1 hour exercise dvd plus walking for coffee and back - about a mile and a half ish i think?

excuse me, dd is having a poo...

ThePinkOne · 18/11/2009 20:44

Melon, mango, raisins, apricot, leek and potato soup, romanesco cauliflower (have you had these? they're fabulous!), carrots, peas, cabbage, apple (crumble - yum!)

Need to sort my exercise out [firm]

I love those cauliflowers!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/11/2009 08:18

Those cauliflowers look like one of those desert plants. Do they taste like normal cauli?

Did you post something highly contraversial Bunny?!

yesterday:

banana
apple
grapes
cucumber
tomatoes
coleslaw
salad leaves
satsumas
