Eat fruit and vegetables - 10/10 thread BOOTCAMP, all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

mollyroger · 25/08/2009 19:34

ThePinkOne · 25/08/2009 20:17

Walked to friend's house this morning carrying DS and pushing DD on the way and pushing DS home and carrying DD half way back cause it was raining and she's too slow!! So I think that counts as 10 mins. Was planning run tonight but that's a step too far I think! Swimming tomrrow.

And grapes, raisins, mango, strawbs, blueberries (3 portions) salad (1) homemade veg pizza with salad (2) Oh dear a little lacking today. Will snack tonight!

Love the vague recipe TooT Might make them in the morning. Ah, no I won't we've got to be out at 9!! Thursday maybe!

TF, hope you had a nice carby day waddling around Not long now!!!!!!!!

TigerFeet · 25/08/2009 21:09

I did do waddling.

I did do waddling with my sister who is slim and seventeen and gorgeous, whereas I am fat and thirty five and frumpy. She bought a top in a size 6 (she is tiny so doesn't look too skinny) and asked if it made her arse look too big . I feel humungernormously heffalumpy. Still, not long now .

There was cake

Nectarines (2)
Baked Beans
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Pepper
Onino
Radish
Beetroot
Coleslaw
Pizza toppings
OJ

Probably 7 or so in total.

ThePinkOne · 25/08/2009 22:57

To be honest TF anyone would feel humungernormously heffalumpy against a size 6 let alone at 9 months pg but you are absolutely NOT fat and frumpy!! (although I assume you're telling the truth at being 35?!)

Not long nooooooooooooooooow!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/08/2009 08:51

lol at the size 6 top and does my bum look big in this?!

Yesterday:

banana x2
dried fruit
juice
carrot
cauliflower
humous
mushrooms
cherries

Oh, and lol at Moll's doubling points for homegrown f&v

Before we went on holiday dh found a huge blackberry bush that was off the track. I'm hoping they're now ready and haven't been eaten by the birds.

leothelioness · 26/08/2009 12:55

yesterday

Nectarine

mollyroger · 26/08/2009 14:08

wht's everyone up to on this rainy chilly day?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/08/2009 15:28

It's not so chilly here (although it was this morning), but it is v windy.

We had some chums over this morning, and when I go and wake Baby Lemur up from his nap in a few minutes I think we'll go for a bracing walk in the wind. Our cheeks will be like this

Well done Leo, good vegging!

TigerFeet · 26/08/2009 15:34

Windy here too

I have had a friend over for lunch. My sister is still here too. I feel very loved atm, I've had a constant stream of visitors all summer and it's not over yet, I have a friend coming over for a couple of days next week.

Dsis is very dinky, I am much taller than her so I suppose that's good . Her top half is a 6, but she bemoans the fact that her arse is an 8 or even sometimes a 10.

Salad (2)
just about to raid the fruit bowl
profiteroles.

My life seems to have a cakey theme atm.

DD goes back to school a week tomorrow .

TigerFeet · 26/08/2009 15:35

Oh and my skin is no longer ravaged by teenage acne [smug evil ]

FfreckleFface · 26/08/2009 15:53

Afternoon all.

Yesterday
banana
blueberries
oj
clementines
salad
runner beans
carrots

Not enjoying the rain. Only did q twenty minute walk with the dogs today because of the howling wind and rain. Toddler stir crazy-took her food shopping to break up the day, gave her box of dog treats to shake, and when my back was turned she ripped the box open with her teeth and started to eat them. Sigh.

mollyroger · 26/08/2009 17:29

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/08/2009 17:36

ugger all excercise unless you count muchos houseworkus

right - for the benefit of the thread i think everyone should do a short burst of info about themselves just so everyone can catch up and keep track. i know most of you are on intimate terms and know inside leg measurements etc, but for relative newbies like moi it might be nice. ys? no?

ok.

I am MayorNaze. i have ds who is 10 and 2 dds who are 7 & 3. despite my slackness of late i am a big big fan of the old f&v and have my own allotment to prove it. i am not so much a fan of the excercise but do walk absolutely everywhere which counts a lot. really.
am an old time mner but newish to the thread. and i make damn fine mayonnaise

any questions?

mollyroger · 26/08/2009 21:02
