Eat fruit and vegetables - 10/10 thread BOOTCAMP, all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

(((((((()))))))))Mayor....Are you ok? Hope it is nothing majorly untoward and just a 'blip'.

Hi SB... bummer about the leak. Hope the job is going well.

TigerFeet · 08/10/2009 12:14

Sorry but eeewwwww @ coil - it would probably be the most sensible contraception for me as I would prefer to avoid hormonal varieties but I just can't bear the thought of it

What a pita SB, hope you get it sorted asap. Do you have hot water/heat?

(((Mayor))) hope you are OK

And a hug for FK too (()) I hope the RL stuff isn't insurmountable,

17 day old dd2 is just an oz shy of a pound and a half heavier than her birth weight, the gannet.

Thanks for all food advice, I am popping multivits, kiki and trying to eat sensibly but it's almost as though my body's trying to make up for nine months of barely eating anything and I seem to have lost my full up now sensation. I am eating a lot of f&v, but a load of other crap food groups too.

I am now three stone lighter than I was when I got my bfp ... this will not last though if I carry on the way I'm going.

Hurrah for mang mang I will add some to my shopping list in miniFran2's honour.

Exercise non existent, apart from when I remember to do my pelvic floor exercises.

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 08/10/2009 13:47

lol at Tiger's pelvic floor exercises. I say that if you're 10 minutes of them, that counts

Glad you're feeling chirpier today Mayor

Hope you get your electrics/leak fixed SB, and your boiler Mayor. Tis really quite chilly here today.

SuperBunny · 08/10/2009 19:49

Apparently roof is fixed although how, when a roofer never came, I don't know The agent said, "Well its not raining today so you don't need to worry"

Lights sorted but will go out again if it rains.

I thought I should test my central heating and it seems to be fine [cosy smile]

I shall do pelvic floor exercises for my 10. F&V

Hello, hello. I am feeling less weird and I miss you al terribly so am popping back to bestow fruity kisses on you all and say, this has to be the longest-running thread we veggers have ever had and the Aug date is depressing me as it is so Autumnal now. Can we not go all squashy and gourdy and pumpkiny now?? Please? Even if we have to revisit old thread titles (for thebenefit of the MN upstarts who may not be aware of our puntasticness....

I will go an read thread now, to catch up.
Suffice it to say I am plum full of carroty and lentilly goodness today.

Franny - thank feck darling wee ds2 didn't call it C*** mang mang.!!!

Rather distressingly, I thought of Franny the other day when DH was feeling frsiky..
He rubbed his hands togehter in a doorway (and then did Vic 'n'Bob style thigh rubbing

mollyroger · 08/10/2009 20:01

Mits - dunno if you will see this, or if you were just popping in briefly, but I am raising a glass of sparkly apple juice to 'determination, strength and stoicism'. xxxx

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 08/10/2009 20:37

Yeah Molly...that is lovely, thank-you so much.

I might be on a bit more as life is settling down.

I am now trying to get out a bit. I have a dinner 'date' with a lovely friend from RL. She has been an absolute brick and she doesn't know it but dinner will be my treat.

at the agent there SB...well that is ok then (not)

TigerFeet · 09/10/2009 12:29

Let's hope it doesn't rain until Sept 2010 then shall we SB

Apple
Pineapple
Jacket Spud in the oven, awaiting topping of beans and accompaniment of salad

I have been out and bought shedloads of low GI type snacks in the hope of knocking the white bread toast thing on the head. Not anticipating much success tbh

Oatcake
Lovely warm toast with butter
Oatcake
Mmmm lovely toasty bread with jam
Oatcake
Ooooh shall I have my toast with marmite???

Not much competition imo

Sorry am being a bad influence. I shall have three sticks of celery and a mango as penance

I am going to walk about a bit with dd2 in her pram this aft. Not quite up to jogging yet . I have been eyeing up my Pilates dvd in anticipation of thinking about maybe doing something more structured.

Mits are you on FB?

MayorNaze · 09/10/2009 14:01

there has been a meeting!!! me & Toot and a canal!! and some apples!! and a pear disguised as a sheep!!!

so come on the rest of you - i wish to meet up. Toot can now verify that i am very normal and do not drive a truck.

TF - chuck all the low GI stuff and eat the toast. you gave birth practically minutes ago in the grand scheme of things and need all the energy you can get

nice to see you moll!!

SB - next time it rains ring up the agent and ask him wht you're supposed to do now. or alternatively turn up at his house and demand tea and toast. veryy odd sounding.

right

raspberries
plums
apples
courgette
tomatoes

arse loads of exercise as we walked for miles (yes, plural!) and then i went swimming as well (though not in the canal).

so i can sit on my behind for the rest of the day (i wish )

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 09/10/2009 14:48

I have witnessing the pear disguised as a sheep

Yeah, come on TF, don't be too hard on yourself. Aww bet she is all squidgy and completely gorgeous [yummy baby emoticon]

DD is off with asthma and a horrendous cough, she has turned the living room into a dump camp, I have mess anxiety.

littlerach · 09/10/2009 15:54

Well I hope you and TooT thought about me stuck at work, Mayor

TF, you need toast, you really do.

I am going out tonight for dinner and lots of drinks with work friends. Actually, Mayor and TooT probably know it, the Lock Inn.

Quite good F&V until today.
And have been making bread every day
(it is white bread)

TooTicky · 09/10/2009 20:54

Mits,I will photograph the blimming sheeppear for you.

LR,we didn't just think of you,we talked about you

MayorNaze isnot normal, she is lovely.

Right, looky here:

3 or 4 damsons
handful of blackberries
3 apples
homemade squash and lentil soup (squash was homegrown)
broccoli
apple sauce

FrayedKnot · 09/10/2009 20:59

Evening

Blueberries
Bowl of fruit salad
Butternut squash

I am sooo going to try harder this weekend.

SB I hope it isn;t raining again

We had a roof leak in a rented house once. I had to shove a dustbin underneath it to catch it all, it was pouring through. I'm pretty sure the letting agency sorted it out quite quickly though. And did send a roofer.

You must insist.

TF I have been eating loads of taost and stodge the last few days. 'Tis the weather. At least you have BF as an excuse

Mayo and TooT I hope you had a good day.

I would love to meet you Mayo. Actually one day I might hitch up my wagon and make the long trail west. There seem to be quite a few of you down that way now

I'll be the one wearing a sun bonnet with my hair in braids and dodgy freckles.

FrayedKnot · 09/10/2009 21:00

Piiiiiiiiink, where are you?

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 09/10/2009 21:20
