For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooTicky · 03/05/2009 17:01

I have 8 peaches that need to be used very quickly. What shall I do with them?

pointydog · 03/05/2009 17:19

houmus
2 oranges
orange juice

I don't eat enough to squeeze in all those fruits and vegetables.

Going to frankie & benny's. I will try my very best.

FrayedKnot · 03/05/2009 17:26

Eat them, TooT

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 17:27

Pie, Toot?

Cobbler? Crumble? I'd just eat em.

TooTicky · 03/05/2009 17:32

Wot, all 8 of them?

But they wouldn't go far in a pie, would they.
Actually, I think we have a tin of mango chunks...

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 17:35

Chopped up between 5 of you, 8 won't go very far. Easy to eat 8 peaches if you all help.

Smoothie?

Make compote and freeze it.

I reckon 8 would be plenty in a cobbler/ crisp/ crumble.

FrayedKnot · 03/05/2009 17:36

Sorry

How about stewing them a little to make a compote, with any otehr fruit you might have, and a few sultanas?

Dried fruit
Apple
Salad Leaves

Er... chutney?

Veg & pasta bake for supper though, and strwabs.

First proper bike ride with DS to our local (big) park...yay!! Last year we had that inbetween year where he was too big for the bike carrier but not reliable enough to be able to cycle by himslef without stopping halfway and needing to be carried / bike to be carried / etc.

Hoorah!

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 17:41

How lovely FK. DS can happily cycle a mile or 2 with a break in the middle but he's too little to go much further really. I'm glad he can ride a bike but it does mean we can't go very far! Next year, maybe?

Guadalupe · 03/05/2009 17:43

Do a charlotte or a Susan whatever it's called. Cooked them halved in a sponge with plenty of vanilla essence and eat with custard.

Dh accidently put 3,400 instead of 340 on an ebay bid for a large kitchen dressser today. Luckily it only went to 460 but we had discussed whether it was worth the starting bid of 200 or not and if it hadn't sold, and there were no bids until the last 30 secs, we had spoken to the owners and we were going to view it and make an offer. We were not going to pay more than 200 so WHY dh saw someone else had bid and quickly put it a higher bid I don't know. Thank god it didn't go for more.

FrannyandZooey · 03/05/2009 17:46

i would eat 4 of them no trouble
if you have to ask what to do with them then imo they are wasted on you [haughty]

rach i really will try
was it peas carrots and lettuce?

Guadalupe · 03/05/2009 17:49

It is also colossal. It will completely dominate the kitchen and I will probably have to paint the bastard. I was thinking French Gray or something similar.

I don't know how we are getting it yet. The people said the last couple that bought it couldn't fit it in their van and rowed on the drive for so long the owners said not to worry about it and they drove off.

It comes from a pile from the sound of it. Apparently the gardener has put it in the coach house and we can't get it this afternoon as they are playing golf.

TooTicky · 03/05/2009 17:50

Thanks for all the ideas.

Guadalupe · 03/05/2009 17:51

What will you do with them then?

TooTicky · 03/05/2009 17:52

Goodness Guad, glad it wasn't a disaster.
I remember dp once put in a bid of £10,000 for something...

FrannyandZooey · 03/05/2009 17:52

it's probably worth what you paid guad
i bet it's lovely

OP posts:
TooTicky · 03/05/2009 17:53

Um...don't know yet...still thinking....am leaninmg towards compote actually because I have done lots of baking already today.

mollyroger · 03/05/2009 17:55

Guad, your advice is needed here

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 17:57

Compote is always good. You can eat it with all sorts or bung in the the freezer and forget about it.

Guadalupe · 03/05/2009 17:57

I hope it's worth what we paid, bit hard to tell from the photos really. That's why we wanted to see it but we only saw it 2 hours from the end and there was no time. More than twice what we agreed though, how annoying is that? Dh is so rash and daft sometimes.
