For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I have a question about all of this:

Who decides the rules? That we can have 2 portions of pulses because we are doing 5 portions x 2 but that juice only count once?

Wy are there leaves in my sultanas?

TooTicky · 03/05/2009 18:22

Is it a diy dolmades kit SB?

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 19:05

Ooo, I love dolmades!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/05/2009 19:10

banana x2
OJ
salaf leaves
cucumber
tomatoes
radishes
onion
mushrooms
satsuma's
coleslaw

Probably about 8 portions in all.

We went to Sutton Hoo today which is a ship-burial sight of an AngloSaxon King (although no one defo knows who it is). The visitor centre and exhibition was great as were the walks around the sight. The lemon cake wasn't bad either

DH and I have set ourselves a challenge. We aren't going to eat any processed food for a week. I'll find it difficult because I'll be doing the majority of the cooking and I'll miss my sweet fix. DH will find it difficult as he has coke, crisps and chocolate everyday. I'll let you know when it commences, although no doubt I'll be on here bitching about it!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/05/2009 19:11

What is a dolmade?

TooTicky · 03/05/2009 19:13

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 19:21

So I ma not being unfeeling?

They (MIL, FIL and SIL) don't live to gether, but have dome in the past. MIL and SIL argue a lot.
MIL looks after children quite a lot and can be opinionated .

Um, house.
We have a proper spare room but it is a box room with a single bed, no wardrobe, a chest of drawers but they are full!
Can put SIl in there, poss nephew on pop up bed and neice maybe fit in travel cot. But then will be v squashed.
We then have another spare room which is open plan and dh uses as office (works from home). I can't see that we can fit 2 beds in there.
I have told dh that he will have to take the whole time off work and oack away his office stuff as then there may be room.
And all of his photographic equipment will have ot go in garage . He says no way!!!
And then there's all of their luggage
And we have nowhere for them to all sit downstairs, just one big sofa.
I don't know how to oput this politley so I apologise - they are all rather large people and need rather a lot of room.

And yes, we are all British, so stiff upper lips and lots of unsaid things

Do you know, the ILs plus BIl came to stay just before our wedding and it was hell they stayde for almost a week and cooked loads of meat and were always in the bathroom.

And we only have one bathroom

littlerach · 03/05/2009 19:52

God I am just whining on forever

PMT.

I think!

FrannyandZooey · 03/05/2009 19:54

blimey
i wouldn;t be able to put up with this for ONE DAY
how can they possibly think it is ok? can you not just say "sorry but there is not room?"
i mean, there isn't room!

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/05/2009 19:55

why are they ALL out of a home at the same time? was / is there a BIL? sorry again if not appropriate questions
or if i just haven't been paying attention

OP posts:
littlerach · 03/05/2009 19:56

Dh won't
I have emailed MIL and asked what they would like us to do re beds, ie need a travel cot.

Also FIL mentioned dh renting a people carrier ot get them from airport but then we need car seats. So have asked MIL what she would like me to do for this.

I am hoping MIL will say, no, don't be silly, there's not enough room and i can say, OK then that's fine

I don't know anyone else who would expect this.
And they are really nice people.
But there's no room

SuperBunny · 03/05/2009 20:01

LR, you are totally bonkers for even considering it. It sounds like a NIGHTMARE. One or 2 extra people might be bearable but I cannot imagine how you will survive. Is there really nowhere else they can stay? Can't they rent somewhere small between them? It can take months to buy a house.

Well done TooT

ahundredtimes · 03/05/2009 20:01

I think you are going to have to spit it out. Write her an email and say you've been measuring the rooms, scratching your head and you can't for the life of you work out how on earth everyone is going to fit in. Does she have any ideas?

If you don't say this, then you are numpty I'd probably also suggest I look around for cheap short term rentals for them.

I have painted stuff. I have a newly painted utility room. Is lovely! Looks like a 1950s dairy. Am v. proud of self.
