For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

...

Hi....!

Guadalupe · 26/03/2009 08:08

She does wear very good hats, yes. She came here for lunch a few weeks ago and wore a tall pointy hat that made her look like a pixie and and everyone in town looked at her as if to say, who is this strange person with a cone on her head but she didn't notice.

I am going to drive to a salvage yard this morning. We need a letterbox. I am having trouble finding a nice old one that doesn't say letters on it. We got a cast iron bath cheap off ebay yesterday but it is in Birmingham. Dh is going to take Joe the handsome young builder to help him lift it. Maybe I will go for the ride.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/03/2009 08:12

Oh, I like FK's suggestion.

Yes, where is Toot?

OP posts:
littlerach · 26/03/2009 08:45

Yes, I agree with Fk too.
And lemur.

I am off to meet TooT in a minute. I iwll tell her to get her arese on here and give thoughts on own topics

But it is raining.

I am in awe of SB's list. It is truely amazing.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 08:54

oh i don't know
i think the healthy living section thing could be ok
but i mean, health - does that not encompass healthy living? oh I don't know
i think the thing about having a 10/10 section is that it sort of turns it into public property
i mean surely anyone can start a thread in 'weightloss'?
well that is it really
it's mine
no-one else can have it
that's your lot
[selfish emoticon]

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 08:54

give toot my love rach
can you sort her out a bit?

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 08:55

LEMUR
i just opened yesterday's post
thank you so much for the seeds! i love those kind of salad leaves

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:17

and i really DON'T guad
i hear people going on about don't put baby in the corner or whatever
i honestly don't know what it is
and i may be a dimbo or what you said
i think it is something to do with a watermelon, so we could have a title about it maybe

you know what, i bet now we are officially sanctioned as Funny, no-one will be able to think of any more titles

ever

ahundredtimes · 26/03/2009 09:17

But no one else WANTS it you daft mare, and anyway, if anyone wanted to start a 10/10 thread or a 5/10 thread or a 3/3 thread then they could.

There's nothing to stop them. The reason they haven't is because they Don't Want To.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:18

i can't accept that at all 100
that does not fit in with Franny's World View
they are all DESPERATE for it but don't dare, because Justine says they can't

you know it's true

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:20

and i've now been called a coconut, a dimbo and a daft mare, and it's only twenty past nine

THAT is not in the spirit of the friendliest thread on MN, is it?

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:21

so what would a 3/3 thread be? let's have one of those

ahundredtimes · 26/03/2009 09:21

It's a tough old life and no mistaking. Right I am going to FOCUS today, time is running out. Have a good day.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:24

i'm starting a 3/3 thread
we are going to eat 3 cakes and complain about 3 things
excellent

Boco · 26/03/2009 09:25

Ah. Franny I see now.
Well, we all know it's yours don't we? I didn't realise it wasn't a joke about having Franny in the category name but I see why you'd want that now. Some bad person could start a 10/10 now though couldn't they? I don't see why anyone else would try to seize control.

Boco · 26/03/2009 09:28

x-posted with 100.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 09:28

yes i didn't realise what was bothering me and then it came to me in an epiphany

anyway

i think you will find this solves everything

BBBee · 26/03/2009 09:33

yes I am starting 2/2/2 thread.

2 pints of bitter, 2 cigars and 2 orgasms a day.

and lots of coffee and hats.

but actually I am just off to the library instead.

mollyroger · 26/03/2009 10:16

see, that's one of m,y objections to a separate topic. You will just get 100 threads from dullards asking questions like
''is apple a fruit?''

''It says a handful is a portion, but I can only fit one apple in my hand''

''I can't fit a watermelon in my hand. Is watermelon not a fruit then?''

etc etc

And ''I have a potatoe. What can I do with it?''

And because we are so nice, and we will feel 'resposnible' for the topic we will feel obliged to answer the threads.

And no-one will ever bother to read the other threads so it will be like groundhog day.

At least if people stum, ble onto our thread, there is a collective Massive who are alwasy around to explain about cunting mangoes or whether nuts count....

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 10:33

i agree with everyone

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 10:37

lemur that meerkat manor - it sounds a bit like eastenders
is it not really aimed at young children? it sounds more entertaining for adults
i am with you about the killing bit
(ds1 would not agree)

ChairmumMiaow · 26/03/2009 10:41

Ignoring all the dirty dancing jokes and discussion about a seperate topic, can I join in your thread?

I always wondered what it was all about and so I came along to find out and you've all inspired me to make vegetable omlette/fritata thingy for lunch instead of cheese toasties. Good for me, Good for DS

I've been trying to lose weight and not really getting any sort of focus and I reckon this could be a good start for me as my whole family loves fruit and veg. I can go back to smoothies for breakfast and stuff

TigerFeet · 26/03/2009 10:45

Hello Chairmum, welcome along

You are in the right place for focus. We do lots of focussing.

^^ see?

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2009 10:45

erm, i will be frank
if dirty dancing jokes and discussions about lots of shite other matters are a problem, i would look elsewhere

but yes of course come in
focus eh? yes indeedy

[finally back in my jeans just about emoticon]
(ds is 8 and a half months though )

ChairmumMiaow · 26/03/2009 10:48

No, not a problem at all - I just didn't want to dive straight into them. I can make plenty of dirty dancing jokes. In fact I know the dialogue rather too well but I guess if I've watched a film every year since I was about 10 or something, I guess I'd know it
