For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh yes, 11 or 12 balls. I must make simnel cake now. I've been saving the marzipan from christmas.

fire roasted peppers, artichokes, olive, tomatoes, pear, kiwi, champagne mango, honey tangerine but not whole portions of each. Maybe 5?

stuffitllama · 06/04/2009 19:28

hi all
i always feel odd coming back as am so way out of the loop but hello fran had to pop in after seeing you elsewhere

hope you are all v well, concert was great, visitors are here, gah about schools and ds1 again

lemur I bet they don't ..it's just not proper summer yet so they feel funny maybe?

pointy v interesting re: excema (I couldn't find your thread again) but i read that the increase couldn't be accounted for by genetics alone and that environmental factors had to be involved

anyhoo off to bed, see you all tomorrow

Hi Stufit, Night Stuffit

pinkspottywellies · 06/04/2009 19:44

tom, cuc, celery. 2 altogether.
courgette, onion, sweetcorn, mushrooms. 2 in pasta bake
grapes.

5 so far, like the normoes My rl mn friend came today and said that her dh was in charge of food for a few days after birth of her ds2 (10 days after my ds) and she realised that she hadn't had a single fruit or veg portion (except perhaps the odd glass of OJ) for days!!

Had a lovely day. Friend here over lunch then DS slept so I played with dd. We painted and played with a little wooden marble toy that DH got when she was born.

I have been squirting DS eyes with BM. The doctor gave him drops but I'll avoid them if I can. He hasn't got it very bad. I've been having the drops and it's no wonder dd made such a fuss. It's fine when they go in your eyes but by god it's foul when you get the taste in the back of your throat

Lemur I always covet the clothes in Monsoon but I don't think they really do anything for me either. I just stick to New Look.

Bleurgh at all this talk of simnel cake. Marzipan - yuk!

pinkspottywellies · 06/04/2009 19:45

Hi stuffit! Night. What's going on with the schools situation? Did you all discuss it?

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2009 19:48

do try the colloidal silver if the bm doesn't clear it up pink
it works on other things too allegedly - is my new magic potion - does not cure bottoms though

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2009 19:49

stuffit hah! i killed that thread didn't i
i thought you put it very well though and based on the information she had given i thought you were utterly correct

pinkspottywellies · 06/04/2009 20:13

What is Franny? Cream? Where do you get it from? It sounds expensive - ABs are free goddammit!!

What thread have you killed? Was it about eczema?

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2009 20:28

it's a spray
i paid £7
i killed a thread about a woman leaving her dh because she didn't have 'romantic feelings' for him

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/04/2009 20:34

Hi Stuffit, it's v nice to see you again. I'm glad the concert went well. Sorry to hear about ds1 though.

The clothes do look shite, my feeding bra's (sports bra style) really limit what tops I can wear, ie I can't wear the nice strappy low cut summer styles. I have spent a fortune on other style feeding bra's and they just aren't as good as the one's I wear now.

Monsoon trousers fit me really well which is why I always go there and hand over stupid amounts of money on clothes!

I looked at Pink's last post and thought she was writing about fanny cream

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 06/04/2009 20:55

Can I just have a strop ?

I feel a bit cheated that ds has a cough and cold. He's breastfed for crying out loud!

Guadalupe · 06/04/2009 21:17

Why would that mean he wouldn't get a cold you ninny.

Hi Stuffit.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/04/2009 21:24

Don't you have to have the illness first, and then you pass the anti-bodies on to your lo?

I know what you mean though

OP posts:
OliviaMumsnet · 06/04/2009 21:25

Oh these thread titles do make me laugh.
They do not sadly make me healthy. I need to eat the veg, not just read about them, don't I?

pinkspottywellies · 06/04/2009 21:25

[indignant] because bf babies are less likely to get colds, therefore statistically, my children shouldn't get colds.

pinkspottywellies · 06/04/2009 21:30

You don't have to have the illness, I think. just be exposed to it so that your body fights it and passes on the same antibodies.

You also appear to pass on caffeine and that would appear to bother ds. He was getting ever so windy and upset and for some reason I decided to cut out tea and coffee which seemed to work. I had a tea last week and he got really bad again and I had a coffee today to test my crackpot theory and lo and behold I have a screaming baby on my lap

FrannyandZooey · 07/04/2009 09:48

morning

the fanny spray - yy - it cures thrush as well apparently

hello Olivia! olivia i hope everyone at MNHQ has forgotten that bobbins idea about us having our own section
still pmsl at the dissent that a perfectly simple and nice suggestion caused

the babies get the colds then give them to you via your nipple when feeding
it's true i am not making this up

dp has taken a mental health day
the mental health in question is mine
had a bit of a wobbler again and spent a couple of nights not sleeping
and i think planning ds1's birthday stuff this weekend is doing my head in
planning stuff in general appears to be a bit of a trigger

anyway after long night spent awake worrying about things i have decided to come and make dramatic announcement about a meet up
i am not organising one
(this had probably become clear to everyone else except me LOL)
sorry TooT i know i said i would but i can't
perhaps molly will do one? or someone else?
avi has said why don't i just go and meet her in london when she is over and i am going to do that
i think mrsc said she might come also, i can't remember what was said
i would really love to meet you all again soon including people i don't know already but right this minute it is beyond me
so please go ahead anyone who feels up to the task and i just wanted to be completely honest about probably meeting up with a couple of people who i know very well, not trying to be exclusive
but this is more what i can manage atm in my disorganised and rather flapping fashion!

littlerach · 07/04/2009 09:52

It's v quiet here.
List fri yesterday
raisins
dried banana
green pepper
red pepper
sweetcorn
tomatoe
cannelini beans

Maybe we shouldn't list in the hols

Dd1 is at a holiday club today so dd2 is being an only child

She has planted runner beans, swwet pea, chiili, tomatoes and peas.

Does anyone have any seeds they would swap with me?

I have broccoli, cauli, tomatoes, radishes, carrots and various sald leaves/lettuces to swap.

FrannyandZooey · 07/04/2009 09:55

xxx

mangolassi · 07/04/2009 10:09

Just popping in to say hello and I'm still not eating any veg... one portion all day today. Is it being pregnant? Can I count portions of pizza instead? I only want to eat ch**se and carbs.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/04/2009 13:18

Yes I think it is pregnancy that makes you stuff carbs like they're going out of fashion, especially in the 1st trimester. You body craves fuel and carbs and general shit food are a quick fix.

Franny - don't blame you saying nay to organising. You need your energy to take care of you and yours at the mo.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/04/2009 14:04

Blardy hell Franny, I haven't been on the thread long and I was surprised you said you were organising a meet up with DS2 being so young. My DD2 is 6 and I am STILL arse over tit so's to speak.
I met Toot and couldn't cope with meeting loads of folk in my current state of mind, which seems to represent a bucket of maggots on a good day lol.
Put you as No 1 as much as you can and get thee some TLC......

I am craving carbs and......carbs, but am NOT preggy. Blinking PMT.

LIST..

a pear.

Pink...sorry Pinklet 2 has a cold. DD1 was the same with breastfeeding, I cut out half my diet....he liked brandy though .

I survived on chips and gravy with him.
(ended up 14 1/2 stone!!)

Lemur...I buy cheap lycra vests in pretty shades (primark) to go under strappy tops if I wear a sports type bra...not ideal but i quite like the layered look and low cut tops look silly on me because I am flat chested.

We have an independant fruit and veg shop opened in the village so I have no excuse.......I shall go now and redeem myself.

Hello to everybody I missed.. got to throw one of these in {{{{{}}}}}...
