For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello all!

Have not been very focussed but wanted to come and say hello anyway

Tomorrow I will be breastfeeding a 4 year old It's only taken us this long to get down to morning and night feeds

I am off to do some baking

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/04/2009 14:01

I had a complete thick moment there tatties. I wondered why all of a sudden you would feed a 4yo, then realised it probably means it's your lo's birthday tomorrow - doah! Are you baking the cake?

I would pay £1.50-£2 and think that would be ok, especially if it is good cake

Oh, and pmsl at Dan Dan Dan. I love Alan Partridge. We wanted to go and see Steve Coogan live last year, but it was only a couple of weeks after Baby Lemur was born so we didn't go.

SuperBunny · 05/04/2009 14:19

I do like Alan Partridge, especially 'Dan. Dan! DAN! DAN!' don't know why.

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2009 14:33

tatties omg! i did the same thing as lemur and thought "WHY????" for a minute

well congratulations both of you
it is a lovely thing
as you know ds1 stopped not long before he was 4 (just as i was starting to think "four? FOUR? OMG FOUUUUUUR" lol) and i really think it would have been a pleasure to continue

Tatties · 05/04/2009 15:28

LOL you two!! Well I think I am glad we are still doing it. I would be much happier if he just had a bedtime feed. The early hours one I do not enjoy at all, but don't think ds is quite there yet. But this time last year he would still feed during the day so he is definitely slowing down, at his pace. It is nice to just let it happen. Why am I suddenly feeling all emotional?!!!

Well we have chocolate cake... a little overdone I fear but what's new. Dp says the crispy bits are good As a really inexperienced baker, the thing I hate about cakes is the fact that you can't check in advance they taste ok! At least with buns you can have a sneaky one or two beforehand to make sure you haven't totally ballsed up

Right must check my buns

littlerach · 05/04/2009 18:21

Hey, I had a salad today!!
avocado, tomato, cucumber, peas, raisins, fresh basil, plus seeds
prob only one portion or something but it's the best i have done in bloody ages and if I don't get a sticker then I'll...I'lll...well, I will CRY. So there.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/04/2009 19:03

Is it possible to overdose on Higgidy pies?

I also get nervous everytime I make the first cut into a cake I have baked!

banana x2
dried fruit
salad leaves
oj
olives x2
grapes

Eight again, oh feck!

A gorgeous day here too. We went out for lunch. Had an ice-cream while walking around the Abbey. Then a walk in the afternoon with Baby Lemur in his rucksack - on dh not me, no way jose!

We saw the biggest cockeral I have ever seen, it was the size of Godzilla. Well, not quite that big, maybe Godzuki

Well done on the salad Toot, it sounds lush. I daren't sneak a sticker out of the cupboard, I might get my legs slapped

OP posts:
littlerach · 05/04/2009 19:21

Lemur, what are you insinuating
Actually, dd2 did ask if there were any left int he fridge. There is one left

I iwll sneak you a sticker TooT

And I did some bulk cooking (is that the expression) today for the freezer so I don't have to plan for this week as much.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/04/2009 19:23

I call it batch cooking, but whatever it's called it's the way to go. I always batch cook massive amounts of chilli, lasagne and spag bol, it suits my lazy disposition!

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 05/04/2009 19:39

I also give everyone else permission (in fact I insist) to give TooT a sticker

DH made dinner tonight cause I was asleep Bless him, he hates cooking so I always think it's very lovely when he does (like once a year!)

Dried apricots
Raisins in hot x buns
Banana
Carrots, beans, b/n squash in Thai green curry (2)

Not very good but better than my usual toasty breakfast days! I am hungry again too so will have some salad with the pate and crackers I was planning! Tomato, cuc and oj.

And an early night, I think!

Happy birthday to little Tatts for tomorrow. Well done on your coursework LR. Sounds like a lovely day Lemur. Hope you enjoy your meal out Franny.

My friend is having a 30th birthday do at a pub in town in a couple of weeks. She's getting divorced and has lots of family stuff going on and I want to go for a drink on her birthday but can't really be arsed to start expressing so I can leave ds. His evening feeding's a bit random - from cluster feeding all night to sleeping 7-10. I think I need a kick up the bum to get the pump out!

FrayedKnot · 05/04/2009 20:15

Tomorrow brings FOCUS

Boco · 05/04/2009 21:14

Oh dear Franny, sorry you didn't like it, I must stop recommending things to you, I always get it totally wrong. Maybe I will just recommend things to your dp instead. If you think you'll have to work hard at it it's best not to bother I think.

I've not been here for ages as not eaten properly for ages. That tonsillitis was really awful and was ill in bed for a week, infact still can't stay awake for a whole day and have been sleeping every afternoon, got up at 11 today and went back to sleep at 4, am really wiped out. I lost a stone in a week. Starting to feel a bit better now, just really tired. Didn't know tonsillitis could be so bad. Dp been good and helpful lately, especially as it's his birthday today adn he made his own cake, with the help of both girls, while I slept.

Hope veggers are all well.

TigOeufFeet · 05/04/2009 21:15

there was enough melon for 2 portions though

Guadalupe · 05/04/2009 21:33

You can get anything really badly if you are run down and can't rest I think, Boco. Tonsillitis can be mild but it can also be really nasty, it is a strep (?) infection so if you're body can't fight it off well then it can get systemic and make you very ill. I think people used to die from it sometimes, there's a complication from called something beginning with R that affects your muscles or makes you twitch or something. Can't remember what it is but a doctor told me about it.

You need to be really careful now about resting. A stone will be a big shock for your body too. You need soups and fruit and tonics and stuff. Glad dp is looking after you.

I have eaten casserole and several chocolate easter nests I made with dd earlier. Simnel also done but I tried to take it out of the tin too soon and it's crumbled a bit. I'll patch it up with marzipan.

A lady watched me pick up the marzipan in Somerfields and she said, aha, someone is making simnel cake, let me give you a tip. Cube the marzipan through the cake instead of having a middle layer. Much better. Then she hobbled off. So I did. We will see what it's like.

Tatties · 05/04/2009 21:56

Thank you for birthday wishes, I will pass them on to ds Just been wrapping presents and making the place look nice

Boco sorry you've been feeling terrible

Guadalupe · 05/04/2009 21:57

Hi Tatties - hope your ds has a lovely birthday. I miss you on here. Do you know I was deleting some of my old phone photos the other day and there was one of a towering plate of cakes! God I could eat that right now.

Tatties · 05/04/2009 22:09

Yes Guad I had taken a couple of photos too which I stumbled across recently! It was good wasn't it. We should do it again.
I miss being here too but I am really not very focussed at all and so I feel a a bit naughty coming on and not listing. I have also been very headachey which computer doesn't help with

FrannyandZooey · 05/04/2009 22:16

oh no boco please keep recommending things they are always v interesting
and i really liked the swedish one even though it made me cross, it was excellent
i am going to watch more conchords because it was too funny not to, really
and dp is extremely pleased
he says thank you

we had a nice meal with 6 women and 4 babies
for the first hour all the babies were divine and we were smug and "oh look at us dining out with our babies in slings we are so bohemian"
after that half of us were standing rocking, babies waahing, i ate half my meal standing up, etc
LOL it was fun though
i got ice cream on the way home
oh i did order a side salad but they didn't bring it
