For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

No not had it before and dd never even had a cold. Tha's why I'm a bit unsure. I expect it'll be fine but....

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2009 14:26

well, thanks for reassuring idea, but i think it is actually because it is risky to use on infants as their skin is so delicate already (steroid cream thins the skin)
plus systemic side effects will be greater as their bodies are so small
plus a nappy is like an air tight dressing so it passes through the skin into the bloodstream

so jolly good show all round

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2009 14:26

oh
have been to gym

pink can you phone hv or nhs direct?

we need a new title

Guadalupe · 04/04/2009 15:48

It's lovely today. I've been to the library and now I am attacking a comfrey invasion. I keep meaning to join the gym.

Is there not a backlog of titles waiting to be used? Or do we need something springy like the leeks or even eggy being nearly easter.

I bought some easter eggs yesterday but I am trying to forget that I bought them.

TooTicky · 04/04/2009 15:49

Did we have gourd of the dance last year?

TooTicky · 04/04/2009 15:52

Chick chick chick chick chicken, lay a little eggplant for me

Go to work on an eggplant

littlerach · 04/04/2009 16:13

The children sang Chick chick chick chick chicken, lay a little egg for me

littlerach · 04/04/2009 19:27

TooTicky · 04/04/2009 19:30

Hmm, shame about the feta...

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 04/04/2009 19:41

I am knackered! Today i have made: 2 tea loaves, 1 viccy sponge, a banan and date loaf, a cherry cake, 20 scones, 30 fairy cakes and some flapjack...

And I'm not allowed to eat any of them

They are for a fundraising tea at a tres gorgeous country house open garden thingy.

I have also done 3 hours allotmenting.
Mercifully, dh has sorted dinner....

nickytwotimes · 04/04/2009 19:42

Evening all.

Loving the bunny smileys!

Have been managing to keep up the fruit and veg fine. Not so good with the excercise as I am ailing today with a cold - why is it that whenever you make some sort of effort to improve your health, you end up with a cold? Or is it just me? And is there any way in which a hot toddy could be one of my ten? Whiskey is from grain, so I guess not? Now, if I were to ahve a wee glass of wine...

Anyway, banana, OJ, dried mixed berries, veg soup, avocado, fruit salad, large mixed salad.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

nickytwotimes · 04/04/2009 19:43

at Molly's baking. Yum!

littlerach · 04/04/2009 19:45

Hi Nicky, good listing.I am sure you could put a squeeze of lemon into a hot toddy (or tooty as dd2 says ) to count as one!!

TooT, I'll pick the feta off if you like, and save you the rest
Not likely! They are very tasty.
Dh found them all in BoA Sainsburys so I had 3 in the fridge

Molly, they sound delicious.

I am about to eat Bombay Mix. And then flapjack. Yum.

oh nicky, I have been ill for a fortnight (I MAY have mentioned it on here once or twice ) and you can imagine how much tormentation DH has given me, given my fabulously healthy diet, my vitamin popping, and all the excercise I take. He eats crap, drinks, smokes, takes no excercise and gets one or two 2-day colds a year!

TooTicky · 04/04/2009 19:49

I'm not sure I want lemon squeezed into me,even if I am hot

littlerach · 04/04/2009 19:51

Bugger, my typing gets worse.
Soory TooT

Hot totty

Though TooT is hot too

nickytwotimes · 04/04/2009 19:53

Yes, it is annoying when you make an effort yey get sick while others don't and are well. Hopefully the recent injection of vitamins will chase away the evil snot. Dh and I are meant to be going out on Monday night for the first time in ages and he is very excited, bless 'im.

Guadalupe · 04/04/2009 19:54

I'd have a hot toddy, Nicky and then a gargle of cider vinegar and swallow some garlic and vit c.

Just had tikka salmon on naan bread with cucumber and corander yoghurt and chilli and lime chutney and a g&t. Mmm. I could eat it again.

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2009 19:58

melon
banana
raisins
pear
tofu x 2 portions
leeks
roast parsnips
roast carrots
black eyed beans
hummus

plus 1 hour at gym

Guadalupe · 04/04/2009 20:03

Do you mean you are posting mid-feast or that you mght eat again later?

Guadalupe · 04/04/2009 20:05

I bought ready chopped mango in Sainsburys today. I'm fed up with fibrous shites.

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2009 20:08

dp is bringing more food as i am poleaxed with sleeping ds2 on me

raisins banana strawberries and grapes with yogurt

= 16 fruitastic portions

FrannyandZooey · 04/04/2009 20:10

i had a decent mango this week

in fact they have all been vastly improved since i started bunging them in a tough paper sack with a couple of bananas

Guadalupe · 04/04/2009 20:12

Sounds nice. I also bought ready chopped pineapple and ready flicked pomegranate. What? I'm tired today too.

I might stuff the lot later in an attempt not to eat doughnuts. We are watching a film this evening. Babel. I will swoon over Gabriel garcia wotsit.
