For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

My navel is done twice....

Sounds ...ew ew Franny.

Think I have reached my piercing Quota now....but who knows what the future holds.......lol

SuperBunny · 02/04/2009 18:57

The earring in the top of my ear gets ridiculously cold when it is minus 20c outside and it makes my ear go funny - I wonder if it is a sort of superficial frostbite. I think they used a gun for mine - I didn't know they weren't meant to.

I still have my belly button one but am a bit old and flabby for it really. Thankfully no-one ever sees it anyway.

SuperBunny · 02/04/2009 18:58

How is your navel done twice, Mits?

FrayedKnot · 02/04/2009 19:10
FrayedKnot · 02/04/2009 19:11

LR relieved to hear they have given you an appt

FrayedKnot · 02/04/2009 19:14

I am just off to ye olde gymnasiumme to admire the codpieces have a work outte

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 02/04/2009 19:17

Lol.....FK.

SB, a hole at the top, and a hole at the bottom, so I can have a bar going through with something dangly, sparkly and pretty in it. But DS has kittens if I show belly flesh, so it is for personal enjoyment only!

Only mildly interesting tattoe story is from when I had one done on my lower leg, and the tattoist kept hitting a nerve hot-spot, so I kept kicking him involuntarily. Had to keep going as the design was half way through though!

TooTicky · 02/04/2009 19:22

Omfg. Have just switched off everything electrical, wandered the downstairs sniffing carefully...only to discover ds1 setting fire to cardboard by the back door. Inside the house.
His excuse?
"but I'm a pyromaniac, mum!"

Flip. Where did he get that from?

Well, at least I have common sense...

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 02/04/2009 19:30

.....oh toot....

SuperBunny · 02/04/2009 19:37

Bloody Hell Toot. Is he ok? Are you ok?

SuperBunny · 02/04/2009 19:38

Interesting navel piercing, Mits. I think I am too chicken to get a second hole put in.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/04/2009 19:38

Naughty ds1! I can't talk. I used to lock myself in my bedroom and burn paper and card and particular favourite, biro's!

Hugs LR. Why does everything need to be so bloody difficult, especially at such stressful times.

I used to have my navel pierced but took it out years ago. The scar it has left is grim and looked very odd when I was pregnant.

I want to have my tattoo sort of covered or redone. I liked it at the time, but I now see the tatts they do on Miami Ink and realise mine is pretty shocking.

Banana x2
blueberries
dried fruit
OJ
cucumber
grapes
carrots
cabbage

My friend has a beautiful tattoo on the front of her foot. It is turquoise.

I've always wanted my eyebrow pierced, but also have seen people have them ripped.

My friend has a double piercing on one nostril - it looks good.

Is ds ok TooT?

banana
carrots
more carrots
broccoli
raisins

In my defence, I have worked this morning and almost skipped lunch, then worked this evening and just got home.
And we have hardly any fruit left.

nickytwotimes · 02/04/2009 19:56

Good evening all. I wondered if I might join in?
I am attemoting to replace my constant picking at everything avavilable and eat more fruit and veg. Can't quite get my head round how to fit in 10 a day, but I'm sre that'll come?

Today I have managed (amongst other food stuffs)
grapes
apple
banana
OJ
tomato based sauce
carrots
minestrone soup (hand woven) with about 3 portions of veg at least I'd imagine.
Might have raisins later

Actually, now I write it down, I see I am pretty close to the 10 so actually not that hard!

I have to ssay that already I feel better. Granted it is psychological at this stage, but, hey, great!

SuperBunny · 02/04/2009 20:02

dried fruit and banana for brekkie easily makes 3 or 4 plus juice you have eaten 5 before 9am, Nicky. That's the way to do it [hypocrite]

TooTicky · 02/04/2009 20:02

Welcome Nicky2x

Oh, ds1 is fine. I am..well...on my guard against future incidents.

LR, we could get our eyebrows done together....

nickytwotimes · 02/04/2009 20:05

Thanks guys.

I think I have kind of forgotten the massive variety of fruit and veg there is over the last few years.

Y'know how it is, buying the same old things every week? You get a bit lazy about it.

This is quite sad really, but I am looking forward to trying some different things.

TooTicky · 02/04/2009 20:10

I feel a bit like that atm Nicky.

pinkspottywellies · 02/04/2009 20:16

I had the top of my ear done properly. Still feels slightly odd though now it's out. I was just trying to remember when I took it out but I can't. Also had navel done years ago but I kept losing the ball off the top of the bar (in the days when they were really expensive & I couldn't just get another) and lost it when I was going away once so just gave up and took it out.

Mits I don't think I've ever read that poem in full. I like it.

LR we had dr receptionist trouble last week. Pharmacist and HV both confirmed that dd had conjunctivitis and to go to dr for cream. I went in straight from HV clinic and receptionist said I couldn't get an appt until 7pm (no thanks she'll be in bed) or I could ring at 1.30 and get an emergency appt for that afternoon. So I can have an emergency appt, but only if I phone in an hour and a half and take pot luck. FFS. I went in 5 mins later to see if I could get an appt for the next day and she said that an appt had just appeared for that afternoon. TBH I think someone had heard and said that she should have given an appt in that situation. They're usually really good when it's for children.

Also someone asked if LR had explained the situation. Why should you have to tell them something so personal? My mum left a problem for about 6 months cause she didn't want to have to explain it to the receptionist (more to it than that but that's the jist).

Anyhoo, grapes, oj, banana, dried apricots, pear (5 at breakfast cause had birthday party so knew lunch would be a write off!) Split pea soup again. 3. Think I might bow out at 8 today.

FrannyandZooey · 02/04/2009 20:20

hello nicky - you can easy do 10, don't doubt it

i had better list and it is a bit lacking

banana, grapes, strawberries, apple, raisins, coleslaw

ooh dp has just brought me a big plate of raw things
with a slab of garlic bread on it
huzzah

pinkspottywellies · 02/04/2009 20:29

Hi Nicky and welcome. I also think you can get a good headstart at breakfast with some fresh and dried fruit and a glass of juice. Don't forget beans/chickpeas/lentils all count. It's also easier if you can prepare ahead then you can just grab [hypocrite]

nickytwotimes · 02/04/2009 20:38

Well, I must say it is a friendly old place this thread.

Hope I can keep it up, lol!

pinkspottywellies · 02/04/2009 20:45

We are a lovely bunch nicky

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/04/2009 20:55

Hi Nickytwo times, you seem familiar, but I can't think why!

If you get in as man as you can for your breakfast it makes it a lot easier to get to 10.

Raw carrot, cauliflower, peppers, cucumber etc with homous for lunch is great too.

I can report that the codde pieces were surprisingly interesting tonight

unlike usually

I can add raisins to my list

in a teacake

Not good about DS1, TooT, but can understand his fascination....is there a safer way he can explore it?
