For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

How are you doing Boco, hope you're getting a rest.

Guad are you being icily polite in the knowledge that you have the upper hand?

Franny you have superb taste in shoes. I have wide feet so usually can't wear std clarks shoes, have just bought these, they are very comfy and they were only £25.

I agree that porridge is nice with apple - chuck a few sultanas and a bit of cinnamon in as well, yum

I've had some salad, probably about 4 portions.

Anyone any tips on dealing with water retention? Do I just need to drink shitloads of water or is there anything else I can do?

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 18:35

I bought the most fabulous pair of DM's in Schuh in about 1994 - covered in flowers. I still have them but don't wear them any more. I get them out occasionally and stroke them. There are still Raw shoe shops I think.

SuperBunny · 30/03/2009 18:40

People who do porridge with apple - do you make it with water or milk first then add the apple? Or what?

No help with water retention, Tigerfeet, sorry.

My face DMs were my black 6 hole suede ones with beads on the laces. But I also had the standard black and cherry red 8 holed ones.

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 18:47

I make it with milk or water, depending on how virtuous I'm feeling. Soya or rice milk would probably work as well. I chop up an apple and chuck it in whilst its cooking, sultanas at the same time so that they go all plump and juicy. I use eating apples so they don't really stew, cooking apples would probably be better.

Mine were 8 holers, I also had a black pair that I set about with a pot of purple paint. Multicoloured laces of course, but I wish I had thought of beads as well. The black pair split after a few years of use, I was devastated

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 18:49

i want all the shoes
all of them i tell you
[plots world shoe domination]
bunny if you ever want clarks sending it can be done
i don't think of them as a trendy brand but imo the SHOES are sometimes trendy
i tried these on last year when they had them in teal - gorgeous - but could not justify for the once or twice a year i wear heels
plus i was up the duff
it is quite exciting waiting to see what new colours they bring out though
i was hoping all last year for green and my friend emailed today saying they had them! i did want green suede though, i wonder will they do it next year perhaps

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 18:49

so, fruit and veg

hello justa!

SuperBunny · 30/03/2009 18:54

Ooo, I like those shoes. I will have a look at the weekend. My mum will be here and we always try on shoes when we go downtown.

I like porridge with grated apple and raisins in it and I often put some cinnamon in too. Yum.

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 18:54

Saw these in clarks yesterday.. utterly lush. and PURPLE (they look more purple in RL) none of this GREEN nonsense

I may have a banana now.

NEIGHBOURHOOD BOY UPDATE
--------

i was in the kitchen this afternoon and saw a strange boy in the back garden
on closer inspection was the boy who used to call round all last summer and ask to come in
anyway ds1 had asked him in so that was ok
then 10 mins later i looked out again and was strange WOMAN in the garden
i mean the gate was open but she had come inside and was standing on the step
anyway
it was his mum obviously
i introduced myself but she didn't say their names, so when she went to go i said "so who is this little boy?" and she said "it is ---- - L'S BROTHER"

der der DER

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 18:57

see i would look frumpy in those tiger

bunny tell us how much they cost in american money if you see them
it would be funny if they are cheaper over here (but i bet they aren't)

SuperBunny · 30/03/2009 18:59

What a weird family. Why would they just come in to your garden?

I am eating a bowl of oats, flax seed, dried apricots, cranberries and raisins with a banana on top. Hooray!

SuperBunny · 30/03/2009 19:01

I will report back Franny but I think they are usuall about $100+ They are expensive here because they are imported

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 19:07

I would look ridiculous in them too, with my stupid thick ankles splurged over the top, but they just looked so cute in the shop and I coveted them [sigh]

So there's a whole family of them? Is the brother older than L? DO you think he might have had something to do with aspirational-twiggate??? WHat strange behaviour.

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 19:09

i want what bunny is eating

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 19:11

the brother is younger, and very small looking - he used to alarm me last year when he would turn up at random and ask to come in and play - i had never seen him before! he looked too young to be out on his own and definitely too young to be knocking on strangers' doors

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 19:13

dd, after asking what we are talking about, has asked me to point out that she saw the pretty purple shoes first. She was flitting from pretty shoe to pretty shoe, and kept picking them up and stoking them. THe girl has a bright future, I tell you.

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 19:15

Well if the mother thinks nothing of standing in complete strangers' gardens, it doesn't surprise me that her sons are somewhat lacking in social skills. How very odd.

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 19:16

ooh i MUST visit clarks tomorrow
marvellous

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 19:17

Oh God. DD is refusing to go to bed because it's still light. This is going to go on until September isn't it? [fear]

SuperBunny · 30/03/2009 19:23

I did lots of prep work for the time change, TF - lots of, "soon it'll be spring and it will still be light at bedtime, isn't that funny? But it will still be bedtime, even though it isn't dark" over and over and over again and DS hasn't once complained. Maybe he's still too young to care. I have conned him into going to bed at 5:30 a couple of times recently

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 19:26

oh dear have you all seen this video of the little boy after the dentist?
i think my friend had the same medication - it disinhibits you and you just talk bollocks and don't remember it afterwards
her MIL picked her up from the op and to this day my friend doesn't know what she said to her

the video is slightly btw
i mean it is funny but a bit that they are letting everyone laugh at their son i think

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 19:29

ds1 is just exhausted because ds2 wakes him up in the morning
then ds1 comes in and so ds2 can't get back to sleep
so we spend the morning with them both half delirious with tiredness but wide awake
it's a great way to start the day

littlerach · 30/03/2009 19:43

Dd2 is finding it harder going ot bed whilst light. Grrr.

Her fish is really struggling

I had bog standard SDMs but with safety pins doing them up.
I also had a pair of higher ones with steel toe caps. But they used to set the alarms off in uni library

Now I have DM knee highs, but not lace up ones. I want a pair in red.

Carrots
Humous
raisins
Pear
Strwberries
some leafy salad
tomatoes
baked beans
too much coleslaw
banana
dried banana and apricots

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 19:53

i am sorry about the fish rach

i had monkey boots, always found dms hideously uncomfortable, but now i have the BFOBs which are a dream to wear
