For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

The other fish keeps pushing it
And dh isn't here.

Oh well.

FrayedKnot · 30/03/2009 20:10

DS was slightly perturbed that it was still light, cue dramatic "but I'm not going to be able to go to sleep with it like thaaaaaaat"

10 mins later is fasto

He also insisted on wearing shorts today, then fell over and cut his knee

and also called me a rusty old bag of peas

Boys are such charmers, aren;t they.

You will have to start calling them NB1 and NB2, Franny. Is it not a bit odd though that they do not appear together? I would have thought brotehrs fairly close in age would roam together.

I never wore DM's. I have always had a thing about my feet (used to be size 7, now size 8), which are totally in proportion for my adult height, but weren;t when I was about 12/13 and it REALLY mattered.

I also used to ahve to wear horrible clumpy school shoes and wasn;t allowed any others for out of school because they were so expensive.

So I had a bit of a cinderella complex, if it wasn't glass and made my foot look 10 sizes smaller, it wouldn't do.

Then I had to have an operation on my foot and now have to be a bit more sensible about my footwear. I do actually have some sort of BFOBs.

FrayedKnot · 30/03/2009 20:13

Oh dear LR what is up with the fish?

We have about a million tadpoles. I am feeding them boiled spinach (they are gourmet tads) and last night their fake pond actually iced right over, but they survived

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 30/03/2009 20:40

All shoes should be green. All clothes should be green.
Actually, most of mine are

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 20:44

the small child sleeps [cheer]

Sorry about the fish LittleRach

Guadalupe · 30/03/2009 20:46

I own a lot of green clothes. It is my favourite colour. All the paints that I am looking at seem to be variations of green and blue. I am trying to vary it.

I had dms, monkey boots and BFOBs at various stages. The monkey boots used to leave black streaks on the floor in Home Economics. Pupils who weren't the type to wear such boots found this hilarious of course and made 'hilarious' jokes about it. I cared little for them.

Guadalupe · 30/03/2009 20:47

Yes, poor fish. Can you help it along at all?

littlerach · 30/03/2009 20:56

I have a lot of green too.
And green necklaces.
And 3 green coats.
And 2 pairs green shoes.

I wanted dh to help it along, but he wouldn't. It flaps when you lift it out of the water .
I though it had died this morning and fekt quite relieved, but it is still holding on.
It seemed to have a dodgy fin a few weeksd ago ansd was finding it hard to swim.
Now it is almost belly up

Dd2 was distraught this morning.
Then she asked fi we could get a hen instead or a rabbit.
But then she said she never wanted another pet as she didn't want to go through this again

TigerFeet · 30/03/2009 20:59

awww poor little DD2

DD has plans for when our cat dies involving an array of small furry animals that we can't have atm because the cat will spend too much time attempting to eat them and we will spend too much time attempting to stop him... however blase she appears about it now, I know she will be devastated when the time actually comes round, she adores the cat.

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 30/03/2009 21:06

oh losing pets is just the worst.

We have abandoned ever having fish again. We were not good with fish.....

I hate to suggest that one of your fish may be responible. We had one who systematically headbutted all the others to death .

Guadalupe · 30/03/2009 21:46

We had a dreadful time with fish too. They developed all kinds of different diseases and I spent a fortune on fin rot remedy, bladder remedies, cloud something remedy and all manner of fungal things. I found myself learning all these things about them that I didn't want to know. was relived when the last one died.

Shame really, as I am allergic to fur so we don't have many pet options.

FrannyandZooey · 30/03/2009 22:25

green is my favourite colour
unfortunately dp thinks it is still purple (it did used to be, when we met) and still buys me purple everything

i have realised i probably made NB's mother sound odder than she was
we have an alley out the back of the houses that leads to the gardens
she was walking along there looking for her boys, and my back gate was open, so she just stepped in. literally a step or two, to speak to her ds
i did find it slightly , as she could have stopped in the alley to speak to him, but it wasn't that she came from the front of my house, through a gate down the side and into the back garden, which is what it may have sounded like, and would have been really really

EachPeachPearMum · 30/03/2009 23:10

Wow! Thank you all so much for loads of great ideas and recipes definitely lots I can use here.

Unfortunately we have been on the B.R.A.T. diet today... courtesy of dd and an upset tummy... nevermind- at least I have lots of applesauce now, which I hastily made up this morning.

I know TooT wasn't on today- but I was thinking of her today as I read Moomins to dd snuggled up on our bed- the bit where Moomintroll meets Too-Ticky in midwinter.

For green shoes- I love el naturalista... I have some beautiful green ones, which look as though they are made from leaves... DD calls them my pixie shoes. They are like these but all one green... made from vegetable dyed leather.

Thanks once again veggers!

SuperBunny · 31/03/2009 03:36

lol @ rusty bag of peas.

I hate when fish die. Especially when they do it so slowly. I used to keep fish in my classroom and one disappeared. One day, several weeks later during a particularly enthralling Literacy lesson, one child piped up with, "Eh, Miss, wossat?" We peered into the tank and saw something not quite recognisable. Closer scrutiny revealed that it was a half rotten fish carcass

I would like to get rats again but I became highly allergic to them

Anyway

previously mention fruit (4)
juice
salad
alphabetised DVD drawer at work (I didn't eat them but I think it should count for something)

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 31/03/2009 06:47

They are lovely EachPeach (shoes). I never had DM's but got a pair of New Rock Boots for a birthday present. They are ACE!!

Fish sympathies LR......
We kept goldfish in a huge tank outside for years, even through frosts.....they were on a wall and it was great but when we moved we brought them in and they died. .

We have a mad fish that flips around like a hyperactive kitten and I thought there might be something wrong with it but he just seems to be bonkers. And a snail called Mou.

I am at the hospital tomorrow.....
trying hard not to think negatively but have internally worked myself into a blind panic. It is an early one so won't have to wait all day.

Trying to catch up with thread. Does BFOB mean big fuck off boots? If so, I had some of those. If not, never mind.

Rev, atm I am a wannabe vegetable lover on carb overload. And am very sleeeeepy. Maybe these are connected?

FrannyandZooey · 31/03/2009 10:12

oh god both boys in tears and only 10 am
i haven't even had my breakfast
[loopy]

FrannyandZooey · 31/03/2009 10:12

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 31/03/2009 10:16

littlerach · 31/03/2009 10:19

Am I allowed to ask what appt is for?

I had to see gp today as have a lump. The lump itself is fine (phew)but have ot go back for breast examination in 10 - 14 days, after period.
