For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Toot - A stone?

Did you eat any of the stollen or mince pies. How did you do it? Tell me now.

Hello new people. Whoever was constipated, I think you should increase your veg intake gradually. You are bound to be full of gas.

Large salad of leaves, carrot, pepper, tomatoes
Stuffed peppers
More salad of leaves and celery

God it's fecking cold out...thank heavens for nicely gritted suburbia, as where I used to live a night drive in this weather probably would have ended me up in a ditch

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 00:09

Gosh Franny has called us bastards twice today. And She said Fucker.

Hello FairLady. What lovely names your children have. Chickpeas DO count.

Pink, why do you always have ironing to do? I haven't ironed in 3 yrs. Before that I used to iron bed linen and the like

Ria, who are you?

carrot
cabbage
sultanas
raisins
juice
chickpea and potato curry
Dahl
manky banana

Only eight. bollocks.

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 00:10

No, dhal. Or Daal. But not Dahl. I did not eat the author nor his daughter. Only lentils.

TinyWhiteFeather · 07/01/2009 02:50

Preens in beautifully ironed clothes, balancing a bowl of nuts on head whilst drinking copious amounts of diet coke.

Like the poster Toot!

Bloody hellimey, you lot can talk, and some.

Hello to names I don't recognise, I can't work out if you are new or namechangers. anyway.

What can I do with a tasteless manky melon before it goes off? Will it marinade in something tasty? Am loathe to dispose of it, but it is almost inedible.

I like wednesdays, even at this time of day. Actually, if it wasn't for dealing with the DC's in the morning, I love this time of night. Although I do have a tendency to eat crap. But it is guilt free because there is no-one here to tell me off! lol

Oh well, babbling to myself again might shuffle back to bed soon..goodnight/morning!

dooneygirl · 07/01/2009 03:00

(Maybe) rhubarb
peach
juice
grapes
sweet potato
figs (Sans maggots)
onion, carmelized (I did a whole one, put 1/2 on a pizza, and ate the other half myself. I love onions. Not sure if that is a portion.)
spinach
2 small kiwi
Some carrot and zucchini sticks

I do not iron. It is not in my contract.

I am glad you are not a cannibal, SB.

Unlike most other things in life, am taking a very zen approach to this, and realize it isn't ultimately about hitting a number, but making yourself eat healthier. I can't believe I just typed that.

Can you put the melon in a blender with copious amounts of alcohol so you can't really tell it is a manky melon?

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 03:05

I hate melons for that reason. i have a dubious looking one on my counter. I usually chop it up and feed it to children - they don't seem to mind.

I ate half a box of malteasers. No wonder I have a wobbly back.

TinyWhiteFeather · 07/01/2009 03:12

Hello dg, someone always appears just as I am about to return to bed.

Am thinking the pit could be a 'nut-pit'. Like a ball pit where you roll about in it.
I rest my case!

Lol at alcoholic melon drink!

I might have to blend it with something but don't really like the texture of blended food. Maybe something overpowering like blackberries, or rhubarb.

TinyWhiteFeather · 07/01/2009 03:13

I ate 2/3rds of a malt loaf...mmmmmm

TinyWhiteFeather · 07/01/2009 03:15

Could I make melon sorbet?...moght google in the morning, I love sorbet.

Right, I AM going to bed.

{{hugs}} to those still awake..xx

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 03:18

Yes, yes sorbet!

Hello Dooney. You're right about this being about feeling better. I forget that sometimes. Until I eat crap and feel like crap. As I do now after the chocolate. Silly girl that I am.

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 03:20

Oh, I love malt loaf.

Thank link, feather... it says buts are fruit

dooneygirl · 07/01/2009 03:28

Buts?

(Sniggers uncontrollably)

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 03:30
Blush
dooneygirl · 07/01/2009 03:33

All nuts are seeds, but not all seeds are nuts. Nuts are both the seed and the fruit, and cannot be separated. Seeds come from fruit, and can be removed from the fruit, like almonds, cashews, walnuts, and pistachios, which were once inside fruit.

That paragraph makes my head hurt.

I had pine nuts today, too.
