For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Pink has a good recipe LR. I will facebook it to you

TooTicky · 15/01/2009 19:27

I looked at recipes on raw food websites once and it's a con because they "dehydrate" things. Like baking but at a low

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 19:40

YEs, and often nuts and stuff are pasteurised, so not really raw either

I vote for Pink's chili too!

OK, I decided to have a mirena coil after DD was born and went to docs as soon as it could be fitted (about 8 weeks I think).

Doctor was concerned if I wanted more children as they last a few years and are expensive. She struggled with the procedure and realised she was hurting me but continued....I am a wimp, so said little.

Next day I was in agony, back to docs who sent me home, but it got worse and worse, so she sent me to hospital, where after numerous delightful examinations they said it had rejected and sent me home.

Back next day in agony and I asked for an X-ray, but was refused. More exams' (lots of different people) and a game of coil cat and mouse......there it is...no it isn't...yes it is...

Finally got an x-ray and it had migrated towards my heart and I had to sign a form agreeing to open surgery if it had actually made it's way to the heart by the time I went 'under'. Fortunately it was removed using keyhole technology.

Two years later I had a botched smear. I have got to go to the docs on monday, and may actually need sedating!!!!!!

As you were!!.......

littlerach · 15/01/2009 19:54

Blimey Feather, that's a nightmare.

Thanks TooT.

TinyWhiteFeather · 15/01/2009 20:04

Yes Toot, I did appear to set myself alight. The fuzz on my jumper caught a spark and I looked like a flambe'ed pud momentarily......I'll stick to sorbet lol.

Sorry about your fridge incident Franny. Very dispiriting. And I think you sound like a blardy good mum IMO.

Impressed with knitted body parts but personally have other things to do with my time....am currently knitting a bike.

I knew someone who did the raw food thing and she said she had never been so miserable in her entire life!

I added....

Can of red bull....dire need.
mars-bar ice-cream.
kit-kat.
5 cola bottles. (sweets)
2 x lattes

I'll get my coat.

and 5 slices of malt-loaf..........

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 20:34

OMG feather, that's terrifying. Please stop setting fire to yourself. I am never going to get one.

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 20:34

OOo, malt loaf. Yum.

TigerFeet · 15/01/2009 20:35

Bloody hell TWF that's awful! How scary

3 satsumas
3 small apples
banana
roast veg (2)
OJ

bit crap really but I am feeling rough of a morning and then only want pies and mash of an evening. I'm taking fruit to work for lunch because I can't be arsed to prepare anything more complicated! Put apple in bag. Done.

Not sure I fancy the raw food diet at all. Raw pies and mash would be a really bad idea.

I need to start a recipe folder I reckon. SB's bean brownies sound fab, and who was it did the moroccan chickpea recipe? THat sounded yummy too.

FrannyandZooey · 15/01/2009 20:43

lol raw pies and mash

we have a 10/10 recipe thread somewhere but no-one can ever remember where it is
i also want to try black bean brownies
co-incidentally i bought japanese aduki bean sweets today after having something similar in yo sushi
they are called mochi
they are really strange but pleasing
the texture is all soft and very bouncy like a.... i don't know what

Sorry about tiredness, TF. And Fran.

FrannyandZooey · 15/01/2009 20:58

we have oilatum, e45, daktarin, canesten, bepanthen and she says next week she will prescribe steroids and antibiotics if not better

so much for the healthy alternative lifestyle

TooTicky · 15/01/2009 21:07

Franny love, 2 of my dcs had homeopathy for eczema and it disappeared overnight. Truly.
The problem with repressive drugs, esp steroids, it that they send the problem inwards and tha is why so many children who have eczema (treatmenbt) end up with asthgma,.
Only telling you because...well, because I'
d raher know.

Excuse totally crap typing/.

Oh, and Franny.....you are great. My turn to nag you

Right, have to go and get dd1 from clog dancing.

Hugs to everybody.

Are they frozen Franny?.....oh yes SB says they have ice-cream in them.

Franny, can you get hold of some
coloidal silver? We use it and it is absolutely outstanding IMO. It would be worth doing a little research for your LO. but I swear by it for lots of skin problems and it is magic on burns.

Sorry you are tired and stressed, It really makes everything so much harder to deal with doesn't it? Do you get much time to yourself to recharge your own batteries? I think you were going to the gym for a while. Could you get an hour there?

I hope you get a good nights sleep and are ready to face tomorrows challenges with fresh zeal......

Oh, I hate that but I get to the point where I would happily smother myself in tar and arsenic if I thought it would stop the itching.

I would love a homeopathic rememdy

FrannyandZooey · 15/01/2009 21:24

ok thanks for all that
i would be on phone to glowy lady but she is so unwell [more gloom]
i just foresee months of trying different things and inconclusiveness
right must get to bed, lack of sleep not helping anything

dooneygirl · 15/01/2009 21:24

Ack at your Mirena story. They really aren't that big over here, (at least in Oregon), so I don't have any real people to talk about them with, and I am not impressed with all the online research I've done, either. I'd love to hear your story, Avi, if you're willing to tell it.

Franny, sorry about everything and your tiredness making everything worse. Hopefully you (and a lot of other 10/10ers) can find something that works.

Quite scared of the spontaneous combustion going on.

FrannyandZooey · 15/01/2009 21:25

sorry you and ds suffer btw bunny
it seems v unpleasant
