For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

yes there is a link - atopic childrne often have eczema, asthma, hayfever and often rhinitis too. The driving inward theory sounds highly dubious.

pointydog · 15/01/2009 21:27

FrannyandZooey · 15/01/2009 21:31

Neither DS nor I have asthma, hay fever or anything else. But my dad and sister have hay fever but no excema. I wonder if that is a link. Doesn't matter either way because all I care about is a cure and there doesn't seem to be one

FrannyandZooey · 15/01/2009 21:34

my mother smoked
i have read the effects often skips a generation - don't know if any truth in this

pointydog · 15/01/2009 21:45

yes, there are many theories and many stories of cures. I've tried a lot of them. And you run yourself ragged for years on end, and feel guilty from time to time, and the large majority of people do not find a cure. Sorry - I do get on a bit of a downer about this. I happened to see eczema and asthma mentioned.

Anyway - Valentine's day and blood oranges was teh connec tion

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 21:47

Pointy dog - you have to tell us what F&V you have eaten today. Or make something up.

I am hiding in the kitchen so I don't have to share my pear

sultanas in my sultana bran - does that count?
carrots and brussel sprouts with my lunch.
tomatoes in my pasta sauce.
have just bought a load of clementines and will eat one soon. maybe two

pointydog · 15/01/2009 21:52

I take a quick look at this thread from time to time. But hanging around on a regular basis would make me feel bad because I know I don't eat enough fruit and veg.

You're all so darn wholesome

I think Pointy's suggestion suits the grimness of January rather well, or is it me?

Sorry everyone is having grim times with stuff, or so it seems.

We must all nip down to the meditation yurt and think about Greenwich.

DS & I had a much better morning today. We talked about how DS doesn;t like it when we rush and how could we make it better and we changed things around and it was great.

Unfortunately later on the walk home was punctuated by DS crying, moaning, running away, shoving, and prostrating himself in the mud - so I feel rather one step forward and about 10 back.

I think I could do raw food as long as you could count cheese. But it probably doesn;t count, does it

FrayedKnot · 15/01/2009 22:15

Oh...and no bread? No, I couldn;t do it.

FrayedKnot · 15/01/2009 22:19

Yes he is tired, am gald it;s Friday tomorrow.

So cheese might count.

TooTicky · 15/01/2009 22:20

I think you can stick tiogether raw grains and dehydrate them
