For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Not caught up with thread but wanted to list before Toot tells on me...!!

Apple,
banana,
tomatoes,
apricots,
juice
glances nervously and defiantly at Toot.....
cheese and onion pasty,

raspberry jam donut,

danish pastry with sultanas.......

blows raspberry at Toot ....

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/01/2009 15:09

How about something along these for a new title:

Let chickpea, let chickpea, let chickpea, let chickpea. Leeks and ghourd and onions, let chickpea.

I yam, what I yam, yam what I yam, dum de dum (can't think of an ending for it)

I really quite like The Mother magazine. Most people I know are horrified by what is in it, and whilst I don't always fully susbscribe to their ethos, I like to be challenged and see others points of view - iyswim.

Sorry to hear about your fridge freezing stuff Franny, what a pita. It's not just the money, it's having to go and replace it as well.

Have been trying to make something for dinner tonight if ds will let me put him down for more than 2 minutes. He's not even happy in his bouncy chair right on the worksurface next to me

He is scrummy though

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/01/2009 15:11

omg, jam donut and pastry - lush. I heart the bakery section in supermarkets

TinyWhiteFeather · 15/01/2009 15:37

.....wipes dribbly jam and sugar off lips....

Mmmmm 'I yam what I yam, I yam my own special (something that rhymes with creation)........

TinyWhiteFeather · 15/01/2009 15:49

Handholding on monday will be appreciated, but have the blood tests etc over and done with, I don't appear to have any left, and am somewhat rag-like.

Ask Toot if she thinks I should tell you my scary mirena coil story....will go with the general concensus

I seem to have everybodies children and they are all hungry....

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 15:52

Officially, I home ed but DS is only 3, so I don't see why he needs to be in school anyway.

Donuts, yum.

I like Let Chickpea and I yam what I yam. Both v good.

I am snuggled on the couch, under a blanket, watching Wallace and Gromit. I have coffee, black bean brownies in the oven and have made colcannon for lunch.

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 15:53

Yes, tell the mirena story.

That brain is quite strange. Who has time to knit an anatomically correct brain?

TooTicky · 15/01/2009 16:54

Yes Feather, tell them.
(and ignore my silly texts)

Franny, I shall deal with you later. You are brilliant and don't forget it [stern]
Okay, next time I bake something postable

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/01/2009 17:31

I want to hear the mirena story too.

G'wan g'wan g'wan.

SB - I thought your ds was older than than for some reason, that's why I wondered if you home ed.

TinyWhiteFeather · 15/01/2009 17:36

Has anyone else ever set light to the woolley bobbles on their jumper and looked down to see themselves covered in a kind of flamey shroud?

Story time later girls.....

littlerach · 15/01/2009 18:00

FairLadyRantALot · 15/01/2009 18:06

SB...minus 30, THAT is cold...brrrr!

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 18:46

Oooo, the brownies are remarkably good and not at all beany They are vegan and gluten free (ingredients: black beans, banana, apple, bit of oil and sugar, cocoa) DS loves them.

I will count them as a portion, I think.

3 bean salad
green beans with pine nuts
colcannon
banana
Brownie

five

dooneygirl · 15/01/2009 19:01

A big vote for the Mirena story. TMI, but I've been having periods sometimes for 3 months in a row that nothing is stopping, and they want to put me on the Mirena, but I'm not too bad right now, and with all that I've read, I've really been dragging my heels.

TooTicky · 15/01/2009 19:05

Feather, have you been setting fire to yourself?

SB, they look great. Have bookmarked it. I once had some "ice cream" that was made from aduki beans, dates and carob powder. I

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 19:06

Dooney, doesn't it make you feel exhuasted?

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 19:07

They are good, Toot. I thought of you as I made them. They are very squidgy.

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 19:08

The ice cream sound good. I may have to find a recipe

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/01/2009 19:09

Is there anyone on this thread who only eats raw food? (sorry can't remember what the proper name is) I was reading about it the other night and just couldn't believe I could ever do it.

I eat meat, but could quite easily be a vege as I only eat meat a few times a week and I don't adore it like some people do. But the thought of never eating cooked food again .... well it just seems impossible (for me that is).

FairLady - remind me what your placement is about. I have a brain like a seive at the mo

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 19:13

I often only eat raw food at weekends out of pure laziness but I couldn't do it all the time. I have read a bit about it but I think it would be very hard to have a proper balanced diet. You'd have to really know what you are doing.

dooneygirl · 15/01/2009 19:15

Yeah, but nothing's working, and I'm really not happy with all the Mirena stories I read, and I'm still too "young" for them to want to do surgery or anything. I don't really know what to do.

Am impressed with raw food. Definitely don't have the discipline.

littlerach · 15/01/2009 19:24

Dh used to be vegan, and he felt the next step woul dbe all raw.

But then he went back to veggie, then a fish eating veggi e then met me ans is now a meat eater whilst I ma still veggie.

May try those brownies.

Actually, I need a good veggie chilli recipe.
I have family coming on Sunday and whilst I do veggie food, I'd like to do something that the meat eaters may eat.

Recipes please
