For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

(I am doing chicken essays as part of my Global Food Resources module, for nutrition degree btw)

Well done Bocster!

Hello Fran!

Let's all go to Kerala and eat fantastic curries and lounge on houseboats and make Stuffit come and see us. I have discovered I am quite organised, so... Who hasn't got an up to date passport??? Thypoid jabs? Hep B? All in order? Good, lets go.

FMV! Where have you been eh???

TooT - how was the mission?

pink, don't worry, my thoughts of veggieness are merely flirtation with the dark side.

uh.. god, you've all been quite prolific today and I have done too much essay, drunk too much wine and not eaten enough to remember what's been said.

salad
that is it!

but am having at least 3 portions of not spring greens later. Essay writing calls for carbs and wine, not F&V. It's nearly done - cannot look at it anymore tinight though, am starting to write in circles.

Guess what?

I've done all my family xmas shopping.

FrayedKnot · 12/11/2008 20:43

Stuffit go to bed! We'll still be here tomorrow

Oh yes, of course Franny 'tis yours for as long as you need it.

Do you remember I said I could send a Galt Playnest if it would be useful? Do you think it might be?

I think I am trying to recruit you as a Home Edder for all of us 10/10ers.

Just in your spare time of course

Boco · 12/11/2008 20:54

Come back again soon Stuffit!

Franny! Nice to see you, good luck with your home ed trip, hope ds1 is better in the morning. When I'm brave enough I'll drive to see you and meet ds2, will be good.

filthymindedvixen · 12/11/2008 22:08

I have been watching marvelous programe about children's picture books with my son who is nearly 11 and wishing they were young again so I could re-read books with them.

And Now I want to stay here and stroke frannny'a hair lovingly talkto stuffit and talk about Gemma And Co and how much fruit I've eaten and listn to Osba rambling and wave to wombling and admire evryone's eating habits and everything.
Oh how could I be lured away by facebook? I swear, it was just the word games. They meant nothing to me....

Must go to bed. As I said been knacekering couple weeks.
Hugely hippyish hugs to you x

SuperBunny · 13/11/2008 00:47

FRANNY!

So lovely to see old faces coming back! (Old as in old-timers not ancient looking...)

Where's Tigerfeet? I think we should try to tempt zippi back. I miss her.

Nothing much to say. Wet and cold here.

Broccoli, grapes (3), banana (3), juice, blackbeans, peppers, onion, corn, pumpkin soup, mango (not quite cunting)

I think that must be 10. And I didn't even cheat. Not like my usual mentioned 2 things an declaring ten and nobody even notices.

mou · 13/11/2008 08:06

I have an appontment with one of DS's counsellors today and uncharacteristically for me, have taken a dislike of him. I can't explain why exactly, he was quite dismissive, but we shall see.

Have had my first buzz of christmas spirit. I always decorate my front door as some of my customers call here and am going to make loads of paper snowflkea ans laminate them. Have bought one present..blows cheeky raspberry at Osba!

Am definately on the right side of the blues and would like to say I am feeling calm and serene, but instead I feel, well, hyper really.{grin]

I kissed my DD's palm yesterday and told her to look after it and she carried it around for ages and when she wanted to do something, asked me to look after it for her. aahhh

Going to posh myself up so I don't feel intimidated by the dismissive counsellor,

so cheerio, have a good day to all.....

filthymindedvixen · 13/11/2008 08:42

mou, try writing down things you want to say to him. I find it helps when one feels wrong footed by someone you need to comunicate with. I had similar problem with ds's senco. She had these wierd dead shark eyes which gave nothing back. I am normally very good at body language etc but she had shutters!
Glad to hear you are coming out the other side a little - depression is crap! (she opined, eloquently...)

mou · 13/11/2008 09:25

thanks fmv, i've just got time to do that.
i thought I looked posh until a neighbour pointed out my shirt collar was crumpled.....duh

OsmosisBOOnana · 13/11/2008 10:25

Rambling? Me? Pah. I don't ramble.

Gibber, now that's another matter

Now, am going to finish this bloody chicken essay today. By 2pm. In fact, by 1:30 then I have time to go to the bar and have a little glass of cold, rank, red wine before health studies. Always better to have a drink under the belt before that lecture.....

"so guys, what do you understand by 'age'?"

That sort of obvious question always makes me clam up and think I've misunderstood what she's on about.

Good luck today Mou.

TooTicky · 13/11/2008 13:49

Oh no, I missed Franny

I have a really stupid tickle up my left nostril and fear it will drive me insane before the day is out. I am BORED of sneezing.

Ds1 back in school - had to see head this morning, apparently his attendance had dropped below 80% and that is bad. But you can't send a boy to school if he is intermittently crying with ppain, now can you?

I have eaten hardly any fruit and veg this week. I keep missing the Riverford/Abel&Cole deaDLINES.

TigerFeet · 13/11/2008 14:25

Oh no! I wasn't about for a bit and we were Franny'd and Boco'd and Stuffit'd in my absence

TooT I do think that some schools are so obsessed by their attendance figures that they fail to see the bigger picture . Ds1 was hardly truanting was he?

Good luck Mou

V busy at work, only very intermittent borrowings of DH's laptop at home.

DD still not wanting to go to school. If I don't have to work tomorrow then I may well keep her off. She is shattered and is fighting off a cold. Therefore I need to stop getting sucked into trollish threads about semen donation and get on with my job, so that I don't have to be here tomorrow.

daisy99divine · 13/11/2008 14:45

Hello all lovely to see Franny again, I hope the Large home ed trip goes well, sounds a BIG thing to me

hello Stuffit, we haven't met before, but life does sound challenging, do come and rant in yurty friendliness!

good for you Mou - write and talk and ask and no blues

big hugs to everyone else, Toot didn't realise it was both your DCs with problems and I agree re obsessive school attendance records - like they wouldn't have rung you to take poor sobbing DS home

TF - go away! and have a day off tomorrow with Long Marchee

FMV saw ad for that TV prog sounded lovely, want to try and catch it - the BBC4one?

My poor DS is still struggling with poo, gave him meds but made him sick so thinking of homeopath but not sure how to find a good one - any ideas?

banana, kiwi, baked beans

daisy99divine · 13/11/2008 14:46

osba at christmas shopping!

and Yes Please! to house boat in kerala

can we swathe ourselves in jewel bright clothing?

filthymindedvixen · 13/11/2008 14:51

daisy, can't remeber was 9pm last night but I spent a very happy hour exclaiming :''oh yes! I loved that book!'' and reluctant reader ds1 even admittied he'd like to revisit AA Milne books

stuffitllama · 13/11/2008 17:00

Hi all

Mou I hope it went well -- I totally agree with fmv, am notebook freak for meetings like this. Another thing I've found is that if they "freeze" you, so that you find yourself gabbling while they say nothing and looking at you in a funny way, you just stop talking and wait for them to say something.

Toot hope tickle went, about ds1. Surely they can't expect him to be at school when he is in pain. They don't assume it's slackness?

I had a school email about my ds1's failure to produce work. Have always previously replied "ok will do better at home, new schedule being devised etc etc" and this week I just replied "yes, am totally at a loss and have run out of ideas". Have not had reply yet. I have rather a detached interest in what the school will suggest and if it works I will write it in a book and sell it to frustrated mothers everywhere.

Tiger I agree with the not sending to school if poorly (theme here?) I was never that keen on "dose em up and send em in".

Daisy re: poo, how old is ds? I used cranial osteopathy for dd with constipation it was worked a treat.

Have actually eaten quite a lot of veg today, sprouts, peppers, beans, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, broccoli, carrots. But also a heck of a lot of toast and butter.

It is getting cold here -- they all have hot water bottles tonight. It goes down to just above freezing in the winter and there's no ch, we just have to drag electric heaters out of the cellar. But better of that the street people, who gather up all the rubbish and leaves in the gutter and make fires that are probably poisoning them with fumes. The pollution is so bad in the winter that the sun is red in the sky from about 3 o clock.

stuffitllama · 13/11/2008 17:02

sorry about I forgot policy

I feel right at home now we are discussing poo again

mou · 13/11/2008 17:15

Today was interesting and I think helpful but H and the therapist got quite aggrevated with each other.

I had a problem at the bank when the machine ate my card, didn't give me any money but said it had, whilst my hyper son bounced around like the tasmanian devil on whizz pressing buttons and interegating the staff I do love that boy. He will go far.

Hear Hear about depression fmv, that about sums it up. Bugger the professionals.

Sounds like the kind of bolloxy challenging lecture you get on a fine art course, did you stay awake Osba?

Crap about school Toot, and they do that and then complain if you send them to school too ill to cope. It's no wonder people home ed.

Lots of work on at the mo and I love being busy. Christmas cards to finish.

Poor DD, TF, perhaps a day at home with mummy will do her good..it does me!!
